Chesapeake Landing is a St. Michaels landmark, a true destination for anyone craving an authentic Maryland seafood experience. Located just outside of the downtown area, it's a bit of a drive, but well worth the trip. We visited on a winter Friday specifically for their renowned weekly seafood buffet, the details of which are cleverly announced on their active social media channels. Our particular Friday feast included unlimited crab cakes, fried oysters, raw oysters, oyster casserole, oyster stew, fried shrimp, mac and cheese, coleslaw, oyster stuffing, and the pièce de résistance, Smith Island cake.Let me just say, this place was packed. The restaurant and parking lot were overflowing, so reservations (which you must make by phone) are absolutely essential unless you're prepared for a considerable wait. However, the constant flow of people is a testament to the food. The buffet was meticulously maintained, with dishes being restocked frequently, ensuring everything was hot and fresh. The endless raw oysters were a highlight - plump, fresh, and delicious. The crab cakes, while not featuring lump crab meat (they leaned more towards backfin and claw), were still quite tasty. And the Smith Island cake? A rare and delightful treat, especially on a buffet! It was a perfect ending to the meal.Overall, Chesapeake Landing delivers the quintessential Maryland seafood experience. It's a bustling, lively atmosphere with a focus on fresh, classic dishes. If you're looking for a true taste of Maryland seafood, Chesapeake Landing is a must-try.

A little late but I visited here for Valentine's Day and considering how busy it was, the service was pretty good. Granted we had a reservation so we got seated right away but our server was prompt and we did not have to wait too long in between orders. We opted for the buffet and given how delicious everything sounded, I felt like it under delivered for the cost. However, the fried shrimp, oysters on the half shell and the smith island cake were the best things! The Cole slaw was also good too! Reminded me of the old CFA style Cole slaw! The Mac and cheese was a bit dry, the crab cakes were underwhelming and the broccoli casserole was very bland. The restaurant definitely stayed busy all night. Definitely seems like a good local spot.

Each time we come here I want to like this place. Our friends always order the Lobster Night Special - lobster with two sides of seafood and a garden salad. And maybe even more sides? The meal starts with bread rolls and delicious corn bread. Our server brought our drinks quickly. Salads came for those who got it with their meal. I had ordered a fried seafood platter with sweet potato fries and coleslaw. I was disappointed that my scallops were over cooked. The other items were good. I was so full that I didn't have dessert. Service was very good with free refills on sodas without our asking.

Went here Sunday afternoon after church. Atmosphere was nice the restaurant was not crowded at all. we where greeted by a nice young lady who seated us , we sat in a booth. the menu was very busy there was so much to choose from it was hard to decide. We ended up choosing the crab pretzel for starters ( it took awhile for it to come out but it was very good ) we ordered the Seafood plater with two sides Onion Rings and Coleslaw I had the Crab Imperial which was amazing it came with two sides as well I had the Coleslaw and Onion Rings. everything was delicious.I had a Root beer Float ( this was not on the menu however the waitress made it for me and just charged extra for the Ice-cream).There where a few minor things . Quite a few things on the menu stated market price, so you had to make sure that you kept up with the price that the waitress gave for the market prices. If not there could be a chance that you may be over charged. There where a few flies that we had to keep swatting as we ate that was annoying at times. ( Hence the 4 stars)Other than that the customer service was great. and everyone was very friendly. I would return again.

We came for a weekend getaway in St Michaels and were so happy that we stopped here for lunch! We got the half and half soup (cream of crab and Maryland crab). It tasted better than it looked! Def had some crab shell pieces, so careful when eating. At least it was fresh. We also got a 1/2 lb of steamed shrimp and half dozen large crabs. I also got an iced tea. The prices were pretty solid and reasonable, especially compared to the same quality of seafood in St Michaels and Baltimore. Our entire bill was $60. The service was also great. Everyone was very nice and cheerful. We were still new to eating crabs, so a staff member came over to walk us through how to eat them. It was really helpful and informative, and we really appreciated it! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone interested in fresh, quality seafood with affordable prices in a local/family setting. You could see why all the locals come here. It's not "fancy" per se, but also doesn't need to be. :)

So we were told this is where the real locals go and it would be much more authentic than the touristy places. Well it had a lot of local flair but the food wasn't anything special. They seemed busier than they were expecting when we went which might explain why most of the fried items seemed like the oil might not have been hot enough. Seems like their deal is quantity over quality, but there are way worse places to spend an evening.

Friendly service and truly the best crabs I've ever had. They were so fresh and cooked to perfection. We asked about the crabs and our server told us she had to count them first because they had just brought them in. That's how fresh they were! This place was highly recommended by locals for the crabs and I can see why. At the time of this review, it was $20 for half a dozen medium crabs (and they gave me a bonus extra, so really it was $20 for 7).

There's no getting around it--the seafood is excellent. But the sides and related items ... Vegetables looked and tasted like they came out of a can. Cole slaw tasted as if it had been soaked in water; salad dressing tasted as if it had been diluted with water as well. Not good enough for the prices charged.
