This place is a new Caribbean hidden gem in the area of Spring Valley. My boss highly recommended me trying out this place, and Im so glad that I did. The owners are a Trinidadian wife/German husband duo, who decided to bring authentic Caribbean dishes to this side of suburban DC. The restaurant is located near the back to waghal's market, but you can also enter through the restaurant's main entrance on a nearby side street. Parking is absolutely glorious since you can either park in the shopping center lot, or find street parking, with both options being free. :)The restaurant is small, so reservations are highly recommended. And the food is tasty and feels very home cooked. That oxtail stew is probably theee BEST flavor oxtail Ive had in the DMV area....round of applause! The doubles are good, but not great, and the salt fish fritters were absolutely delicious as well, especially with the accompanying sauce.I look forward to my return and trying out the highly recommended curry goat and fried red snapper. The customer service was personable and attentive, and the restaurant is quaint and clean, with some nice outdoor seating available. The bar area is small, so maybe not the place for a happy hour, but you'll definitely enjoy the food and the appreciate the quality. yelp pro tips: they are closed on weekdays from 3pm-5pm; and they're available on uber eats. Overall, I highly recommend!

Yummy Greek Salad Pita with chicken-- good price and good service. It was super hot today-- but you have the choice of sitting indoors or outside. This place is also attached to Wagshal's market. :) I want to come back and try the shrimp dish!

We (four of us) went there after getting a 45 minute wait for an outdoor table at Millie's across the street. The indoor seating was cool and quiet so we could talk to each other. We enjoyed cold beers and sodas during happy hour. For starters we had spicy shrimp, salt cod fritters and yellow pea fritters. All were delicious. I had the lamb curry which was a huge bowl of lamb with lots of veggies, potatoes and chick peas. The flavor was not ruined by too much curry. The crab entree was a perfectly cooked crab cake with a generous side of veggies. Two of us had the filet mignon which was a generous portion. The fries on the side were tasty and crispy. We finished our meal by cleansing our palates with some tasty Belgian chocolate gelato. We will be back again!

Not sure where to start. Ordered eggs Benedict but asked if it could be Florentine (with wilted spinach in place of Canadian bacon). Was served hard, lukewarm poached eggs with a very small splurge of hollandaise atop raw spinach and untoasted bread. Sent it back and my plate returned with toasted bread and wilted spinach - and the same hard, (now) cold eggs. Had ordered a side of "thick cut rasher bacon" which was not thick cut at all, very thin and supermarket-type, which had clearly been reheated. A "fresh squeezed" OJ that was clearly the no pulp-type Tropicana. Found black hair in the fruit cup they served on the side and bugs (actual ants!) in the salt shaker. $4.00 cup of drip coffee was never topped up. Just awful - and charged $36.00. I wanted to support this small business, but NEVER, NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN. Astonishingly bad.

Actually the least authentic "Trini" food I've ever seen. The doubles was actually channa tacos served with an Asian sweet chili sauce! I was shocked.

This food is nothing like actual Trinidadian food. The doubles are absolutely unrecognizable to a real Trini, it's honestly a disgrace and embarrassing.I was so upset when I came here and saw what was being passed off as Trinidadian food since I was actually born there and visit often. It's maddening. The service is fine but this is NOT Trini food. These high reviews cannot be from anyone who is actually from the Caribbean. Go elsewhere.

What a nice, comfortable space. I just finished my roti and curried chickpeas (quite affordable and delicious) and I am enjoying the Calypso music while the super friendly waitress chats with an older gentleman two tables down. He has clearly been coming here for years, but the server treats everyone as if they are regulars. I don't feel rushed and the space is not full to the gills like so many places that pack in the weekend brunch crowds. I think I may become one of those regular regulars! Chef - your Trinidadian food is delicious. Put more on your menu!

We had the doubles, a smoked brisket sandwich and a really yummy salad with watercress and mango. Everything was tasty; service is so friendly. Price is right, we will be back! Not a date night sort of place, more like a favorite restaurant place. I could see myself eating my way through the small but delicious looking menu. You can also order burgers and sandwiches from the lunch menu at dinner time.

Staff 10! Cooks 2. The food has been overall disappointing. I ordered a hamburger several visits ago and asked for medium rare to rare. I got well done. The next time I asked the server to please convey to the cook that I would like a burger that has color in the middle, pink, red, anything but grey. She said she made a point of it but again, it was horribly overcooked. I haven't been there for a couple of months but every time we went there the food was mediocre to just bad. The wait staff is GREAT. Attentive and friendly.
