Pretty darn good crab cake from a mobile food truck! I found your food truck at a recent festival that I was attending. I wanted a crab cake with limited to no filter. I asked as I'm originally from Maryland, and crab cakes outside the state usually aren't good and contain too much filler. After assuring me that there was minimal filler in the crab cake, I ordered it and waited about 10 minutes for them to cook it. I did not get it with the crabby sauce. I don't know what is in it, and I am not a big sauce guy anyway!! After about 10 minutes, they called my name, and I picked up a piping hot crab cake on a roll with lettuce, tomato, and onion. I give them an A+ on food, especially from a food truck. Plus, they provided a bag of UTZ crab chips, it couldn't be better. I could have gotten french fries for an additional $2, but I opted for the chips. I highly recommend this food truck, and I learned they have a located in the Baltimore area, in Hampden, which I will check out when visiting family and friends in the Baltimore area.

A friend who lives in the neighborhood brought me here, and I was skeptical since I can't have crab. But man did their beef sandwich hit the spot. Really fantastic. Cozy atmosphere and super cool owner working the counter. I'll definitely come back next time I'm in the area.

I love me a good crab cake, so when my best friend suggested Capt'n Crabby, I had to see what they were all about. My first visit was in late 2020 and the left a very good taste in my mouth (figuratively & literally). I got a crab BLT and really enjoyed it, and the sweet message on the box that said: "Thanks for the support" was enough to bring me back in for future visits. On my second visit, I was able to meet Mj the owner and she was very sweet! I can tell she works hard and puts a lot of work into her business. I also tried their Texan crab cake sandwich, and my God! It was one of the best crabcake sandwiches I've ever had. I was trying to eat the crumbs at the bottom of the box it was so good. I also recommend their old bay seasoned fries, and their flavored iced teas and lemonades. During my most recent visit, I was able to try their vegan crabcake sandwich made with artichoke and heart of palms. It was absolutely fabulous and almost tasted like the real thing. I was very impressed. Overall, Capt'n Crabby makes a damn good crabcake and I'm excited to eat my way through their menu.

So the owner writes a passive aggressive and arrogant response. SURPRISE! Good luck, you'll probably need it. Update: "closed for renovations."

Finally got the chance to try this after they were featured at a local event in Oceanview. There's not too much to post really. I was really taken back by paying $15, for a crab cake and chips. It didn't even come with a drink. The crab cake was "ok". Being from Baltimore, I should've lowered my expectations on the crab cake. It was ok, for a VA crab cake. I probably wouldn't order from here again.

Love this place. best Maryland Crab Cakes in town. Must try be mindful they are closed Monday's and Tuesday abs open at noon -8 pm Wednesday thru Saturday. Open on Sunday for Brunch only from 11-2. I must come back to try their power up bowls and Shepard's pie but how when their signature item is the Maryland Crab Cake ..On to my review. This is my second time at this location. During the pandemic there was a very limited menu and only dine out available.Today I had the luck of dining inside. I am happy to see a more extended menu. The waitress states that it is still limited but I must admit I was pleasantly surprised with all the variety. There is waaay more than just crab cakes here. From grilled chicken sandwiches, power owls and even vegetarian options.. Right off the bat I could see things I would be ordering in the future. Deliciousness everywhere. I can see there was so much thought that went behind creating this menu. Finally I gave in abs ordered the We Be Jammin crab cake sandwich with a side on homemade mac n cheese and house made spicy pickle. Let me start off by saying that the flavor combinations that are intentionally paired with this amazing crab cake are mind blowing. I would never think to add some of these topping to my crab cake. Once you take your first bite you can quickly realize that this crab cake sandwich is an experience. The flavors and textures are all working together cohesively to tantalize all of your tastebuds. After chewing my first bite all I could utter is WOW and some weird moaning sound.. Don't judge me but this crab cake was almost orgasmic. . The mac and cheese is very cheesy and well seasoned. I enjoyed the sprinkle of old bay on top. In addition, I devoted the homemade pickle. Great addition!!! After inhaling my sandwich I was not even able to make a dent into my mac so I took in home. Overall this was a very good meal for under $20. Quality ingredients, paired so nicely with a nice and charming atmosphere. I am nominating this restaurant one of my new faves! I approached the Cap'n Crabby's Food Truck with high hopes and a rumbling stomach, only to be met with one of the most disappointing culinary experiences of my life. The promise of a delicious crabcake was quickly dashed, replaced by a sad, filler-laden mockery of what a crabcake should be.First off, let's talk about the crabcake itself. If you're looking for a heaping serving of breadcrumbs masquerading as seafood, then congratulations--you've found your dream meal. The "crabcake" was less a delicacy and more a paper-thin puck of filler. It was as if someone had thrown in a token amount of crab just to justify the name. Each bite was a monotonous blend of mushy, flavorless mass with no trace of the vibrant, briny essence that makes crabcakes a true delight. But wait, it gets worse. The bun was an unmitigated disaster. If you've ever wondered what a McDonald's bun would taste like straight out of the sack, this was it. Dry, tiny, and completely flavorless, it was a poor excuse for anything that should be used to hold a crabcake. This so-called bun squashed under the weight of the pathetically soggy crabcake, rendering the whole assembly an unappetizing mess. The prepackaged bag of potato chips and tomato were the only edible things in the sad paper basket. The pickle looked like it had just written its last will and testament. The entire experience left me questioning not just the integrity of the crabcake, but also the very definition of what a food truck can aspire to be. The promise of a decent meal turned into an ordeal of culinary betrayal. If you're in the mood for something that resembles food but tastes like regret, then this is the truck for you. Otherwise, steer clear and save yourself from the crabcake catastrophe that lies within.

Just had my first meal at Capt'n Crabby in Hampden. The crab cake sandwich was really yummy. The owner Steve is a really nice guy. While you wait for your food, you can check out the old Baltimore photos on the wall. Pretty cool! If you're looking for some terrific food, stop by! Support local businesses.
