My family and I stopped here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch while visiting Baltimore. The restaurant was set up like a ship inside and out. Food was hot, fresh, and delicious. The grilled octopus was a stand out! The fried oyster po'boy was great. There is a kids menu. Our server was pleasant and attentive.Six adults and three kids (gratuity was included for a party of this size).Street parking and a parking lot available.

Food was ok. We got wings, oysters, shrimp cocktail and crabs. Crabs were overpriced $120 dz. Large. Oysters were fresh and good, shrimp were small, the wings were ok. Ambiance was cool. Service was great.

I had a nice group dinner here during my visit to Baltimore. I was hoping to try out crab cakes during my trip and Captain James Landing did not disappoint! We came as a large group and I decided to split the captain's signature crab cake with a friend. The crab cake came out with a light crunch on the surface with a wonderful texture on the inside. I appreciated the quantity of meat in the cake. The green beans were also quite tasty. I did find the amount of food on the smaller side considering the price. After observing some other friends' orders, I could see that there were other menu options with more quantity for a similar price. Our server was prompt and very accommodating of our large group. The layout of the restaurant was also a treat with the nautical theme and boat-like windows overlooking the street. This would be a nice spot for anyone wanting to check out some seafood on their visit to Baltimore.

We had an excellent dining experience at Captain James. It was the perfect spot for our family of 6, including a restless toddler (he devoured the generous serving of kids spaghetti and meatballs) and someone who doesn't really enjoy seafood (she liked her burger and fries). The hush puppies were hot, fresh and delicious - loved the honey butter. The crab dip with pretzel chips was cheesy & hearty with a good spice level. The halibut special was great. My husband and I split the seafood broiler which was a great way to sample the menu - one scallop, 2 shrimp, crab legs, salmon and crab cakes - even the rice and green beans were tasty. Our service was great - overall, a great experience for a family meal!

Yesterday, my boyfriend and I went to this restaurant after a long day of shopping. I had been wanting to come to Captain James' Landing for about two years-from the looks of it, it is a welcomed and community staple. When you come to the restaurant, it's shaped like a ship. The inside has a nautical theme to it, with tv screens and chalkboards describing CJL fresh catches of the day and daily specials. Service is top notch, with food that's very affordable and versatile to seafood lovers. It's a great place to get a bite to eat, especially in the summertime!!Menu items to try: crab dip, hushpuppies, surf n turf saladHonorable mention: broiled seafood platter, oysters on the half shellThis restaurant is an awesome place in Baltimore to eat in my book! Make reservations ahead of time if you should stop by, with flexible time for finding parking!!

4/13/24Ship shaped building, heheheMake reservations!!!We didn't know, so we had to wait. It was our last night in the area, so we opted to wait. Brady was helpful and put us on the list and called us as soon as a table was available. I must praise his patience with all of the rude customers who didn't make reservations and expect him to let them in...Britney was so busy but still made time to check in on us!Summer Storm and Orange CrushGood drinksGrilled OctopusVery good, I could have had this as an entrée Lobster Stuff with CrabTender lobsters and good crab stuffing Broil Seafood PlatterI liked the variety of seafood on this platter. Everything was seasoned well.Next time in the area, I definitely want to visit the landing, which overlooks the river.

The food might be fine, but they did a bait and switch to get our business. I bought a Groupon for $20 off $40, which listed no restrictions except that it could not be used for gratuity or gift cards. I planned to use it toward a half dozen steamed crabs. When we got in, the server said "You can't use the Groupon for crabs." I showed her the fine print, and she said, "That's strange. It should say no crabs. I wonder why it doesn't? Sorry about that." She did not offer to get the manager or to go or the coupon, and I didn't feel like making a scene, so we left. I got a refund from Groupon, and we went across the street to the diner, which was great

Where do I begin? First time coming here, and it was not a good experience for any of us. Ordered the crab dip, and it was honestly the worst I've ever had. Actually sent it back. It was so fishy, and had a weird, dingy, off white color, had wayyyy too much Old Bay, was too spicy, and was oily. Was gonna just keep it and let everyone else eat it, but the whole table agreed it was nasty. Then I ordered a chicken Caesar salad and it had no actual shaved or shredded parmesan cheese on it, just the grated kind from a can, yet cost $20. They didn't have any good girly/fruity drinks to choose from, mostly wines. We really wanted something fozen, like a daiquiri. Our whole bill came to almost $240 for 4 people! They also added on an automatic gratuity for 4 people and the service sucked! Once our food came, we didn't see our server again for over 45 minutes. Didn't check on us once to see if we were good, needed refills, or anything. My husband had to finally flag her down. Was debating on getting the crabcake sandwich, but it was $41! For a SANDWICH not even a platter! Only thing that was halfway decent was my husband's burger, and even that didn't come with cheese, had to pay extra. Got a slice of Oreo cheesecake to go, and it looked more like a chocolate mousse cheesecake, it was so dark, and such a tiny slice. The inside was small and cramped. All in all, not a good dining experience, and will not return.
