Cakes In The City

We got four different cupcakes with the best frostings, including Biscoff, Cinnabon, chocolate and lemon. The co-owner graciously reopened the door on a slow late afternoon to let us in and choose some of the cupcakes made by his wife. I can only imagine the catering they do with special cakes!

I will be ordering my third custom cake from Casandra! I think red velvet this time, with lots of sparkles to make my wife and daughter happy.

My husband and I stopped in here randomly while we are grabbing coffee across the street. To our surprise they had the perfect treat for our latte. We grabbed the cinnamon cupcake and it was truly incredible. The service was super nice and the shop was adorable. I know exactly where to go if I need to purchase cupcakes or any sweets in the future. I'm so excited I stumbled across this incredible bakery.

Y'all did not know this place was right on read st! It's right next to the lady who does my locs and this is the perfect snack while you are sitting in the chair.It's small in there so you're probably not sitting down but they do have tables out front to enjoy your cupcake. The space is bright and all the flavors look delicious. They also do cakes and custom orders. Definitively coming back my cupcake was moist and like and so good so will have to come back for more!

This establishment was mentioned in one of my Facebook groups, one of the members talked very highly about this place, so I had to try. While on my lunch break today, I took the liberty of trying out this cute little black owned bake shop. I purchased a strawberry crunch Bundt cake and one of their traditional cupcakes. When I say the Bundt cake was so light and airy, and not too sweet, OMG. I got a chance to chat with the owner, such a sweet lady, she does all the baking in house as well. I highly recommend if your ever on Read Street, please, please make it your justice to stop in and grab some yummy desserts. You will not be disappointed at all.

Definitely worth a visit. I order a Red Velvet Cake as a Christmas gift for a friend's special family Christmas dinner. The counter person ( I am assuming was the owner) was so very pleasant and helpful. She went over the various options and prices in detail and presented herself in a courteous, professional manner. The Cake was a big hit, it was enjoyed by everyone at the Christmas gathering. The unanimous comment was, it is so moist and delicious. I will definitely revisit soon. Thank you Cakes in the City

Perfection!! I found her on the internet while searching for a bakery to make my daughter's birthday cake. She was so patient, nice and welcoming. The bakery is super cute! I ordered a cake, strawberry shooters and cake pops. They were all a big hit at the party. Very moist and tasty. The cake was absolutely gorgeous! She listened to my ideas and executed them flawlessly! Thank you. Will be back!!!

They were very rude and belligerent with me when I bought my dog inside. There was no sign posted and no one was at the front so we really didn't know. I won't be returning. I'm really dissapointed about that experience and i hope they will improve over time..

Went to Cakes in the City when my boss needed a large sheet cake for his mom's surprise party - Cassaundra was amazing at making the design requests come to life and my boss swears it's the best cake he's ever had :) highly recommend for anyone looking for friendly, efficient, and caring service in the DMV area!!

This cozy bakery is so adorable. The Banana Pudding is everything. The owner Cassandra, such a sweetheart. I will be returning. Thanks so much for your kindness.
