"I've been supporting this establishment for years. First the Laurel location & now here in Brandywine. Some of my go to items are jerk salmon, curry shrimp, shrimp tacos, and the popular Rasta pasta... the herb coconut Parmesan sauce is yummy but I ask for light sauce now. Consistent Quality. In the interest of time, I place all my orders online. The staff is accommodating and Mad Cow is very friendly to the cycling community. My bike club has organized rides departing from both locations and we dined outside after the rides. One issue that can easily be addressed. I enjoy plantains but no longer order from here due to the shabby quantity. Mad cow charges $6 for a side and there are normally 5 or less pieces inside the cup. I won't run down the list of places that charge the same amount but you get much more. Aside from that, it's good! . Support!!"
"Actually it's a 4.5. We found this place by luck. Walked in with Ribs n Oxtail on our tastebuds. Sadly like any great smoked places, they were sold out of ribs and oxtail for the day. We learned don't stroll in close to 6pm. We were greeted and met the owner, his son and his handsome grandson. We ordered the whiting, brisket, yams, collard green and green beans. You owe it to your tastebuds to try this place. We will be back, it was Amazing and delicious.Thank you"

"Plenty of food in your order but flavorless and unseasoned vegetables were over cooked and soggy I like a little snap in mine the wings were large and juicy and not dried out under the skin but again unseasoned and tasteless if your hungry this is the place to go but if you are looking for good taste this is not the place"
"I happened to be playing the lottery across the street from this business. It caught my eye because it was pretty busy. My boyfriend and I decided to get something. I chose the lemon pepper shrimp which was pretty tasty. The fries were just ok. My boyfriend had the lemon pepper wings which he stated were delicious. The cheese steak egg rolls were complimentary due to us having to wait a little longer for our food because of a small mishap. I thought that was very nice of the business to do. We had not complained about the wait which made it even better for the business to acknowledge it. The customer service was awesome. It's not a very big place but, there is a small counter and few seats."
"Amazing food. Good service and generous portions. Loved it! It was worth the drive since it's not close to home. Go and check it out."
"I had dinner last night with my cousin, who was visiting from New Orleans and craving good Southern cuisine. I figured this new spot would be worth a try, and overall, it didn't disappoint! The ambience is absolutely gorgeous. We went for dinner, but I can only imagine how stunning it must be during the day with the waterfront view. It's a great setting for catching up with family and friends. The food was really good and definitely reminded me of home. We started with oysters, corn, cornbread, and deviled eggs--all delicious. I also tried a pickled martini for the first time; while it wasn't my favorite, it was still an interesting experience. For dinner, we had the catfish and grits, chicken and waffles, and the hanger steak with fries. Everything was well-seasoned and flavorful. The service was solid--friendly and attentive. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is that while everything was good, nothing completely blew me away. Still, I'd absolutely come back and recommend it to anyone looking for quality Southern-inspired food in a beautiful setting."
"Treated myself to a "cheat meal" for lunch so I decided to give this newly opened location a try. Because it was lunch time, I did take out instead of dining in.Upon entering, I noticed that the restaurant's decor was well put together and very appealing -- it was so colorful and inviting with flowers, elegant chairs, and cultured portraits. Definitely much better decorated than other Carolina Kitchens I've gone to. Thankfully, there wasn't a line for takeout so I was able to just walk in and place my order. The overall spread looked good. I got the fried whiting, collard greens, and black eye peas. My food was flavorful and thoroughly cooked . I also got a buttered cornbread muffin and it was good also! The taste of the food was similar to the taste to the food at other locations that I've tried, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but most times the food tastes different pending the location. I guess the franchise deserves a "A" for consistency.Overall, my experience was okay -- not bad but also nothing to rant and rave about."
"The menu has lots of yummy options. I also had a lobster roll as a starter that I forgot to get a photo of. It was really yummy and came with a small side salad. I am not a huge pumpkin fan but the pumpkin panna cotta was one of the best desserts I have ever had. You must eat it with the cookie. Drool worthy. There was a very pretty fire place in the center of the restaurant that made the entire place feel cozy and warm (literally). But I also think the warmth comes from the big open floor to ceiling windows on a sunny day. My server was amazing. I don't remember her name. But she was very friendly, attentive, and accommodating. Although this is essentially a hotel lobby bar it gives all the ambience and service of a 5 star restaurant."
"I went here by myself after a fun beach day. I sat at the bar. It's a very cozy bar and I liked that the stools were comfortable. The bartenders are super kind and knowledgeable about all the food and drinks they offered. I got the blueberry and lavender Mocktail with the crab dip, and both were divine! The mock tail was very refreshing after the day at the beach, and the crab dip was very well seasoned and had a good amount of crab meat incorporated into it. The pretzel breadsticks were super crunchy on the outside and super fluffy on the inside, and they were very hot and fresh. All and all I do recommend this place to anyone who is spending a day at the beach. It's not that far from the beach maybe a couple blocks so you can walk. However, if you want to drive, it's a it's a two minute drive. Parking is very limited in front of the building, but I would suggest parking down the street and walking."
"Paige was my server and she was absolutely amazing I would rate her service 10/10. I ordered the salmon bites as an appetizer and they were seasoned to perfection, although it tasted like the pink salmon in the can it was a 7/10. The Vegan bowl was the only disappointing part of the experience. I ordered it with Salmon and luckily I added the salmon because the vegetables were a 0/10. As a vegetable lover I was extremely sad, I had been craving some vegetables since I'm visiting from California and hadn't really sat down to eat real food. The establishment was really nice and aesthetically pleasing. The music was at the right volume that I could hear my guest but not overpower the conversation. Overall I would definitely come back but I would stay away from the vegetables. Also, the drinks were amazing. No comments there."
"Always my go to for BBQ. Quality food at reasonable prices. Very friendly staff. Take out is always ready on time if you preorder."
"Really nice space they have a large inside space with plenty of TVs. they also have a large tent coveted outdoor space. The bar tender that served us was very friendly and poured a very good drink. Can't say that about all bar/restaurants in Canton Square. Definitely will be back"

I've been here 3 times now. I like the food. I've tried the fried chicken combo. Greens don't taste like vinegar and the Mac and cheese was good. I've tried samples of the BBQ ckn, brisket, and cornbread dressing. I still want try their burger

3.5, rounded to 4 for staying open longer than other establishments that occupied this space and friendly staff! This is black American soul food, in my opinion, but in the category of southern Baptist, after church cooking-- not the gentrified DC soul food, nor soul food from the chef that graduated high school in 2003. No shade at all to those that fit in those categories, but I'm trying to give you an accurate description of this food. It's old school, nice portions, maybe a sister Dorothy is in charge of the Mac n cheese... idk, but before people got too fancy, doing brunch after church, or church online, churches used to have food after church or for special events (every other week). (Lucky you if you go to a church that still does this!). It looked and tasted like this. Daddy Grace's anyone? I've had their turkey wings and chicken with sides. I can't eat fish, but my family members that got the fish, love it. We picked this as an establishment to patronize for Kwanzaa. While it's not always my go to, it's there and provides comfort. A good hearty warm meal when you need one. I'm so glad to have this option, let alone at 'the mall' where there could easily be a food court of everything, but things resembling home- cooked food.

This goes to show how long it's been since I've been to Total Wine -- I never noticed this place was right next to them! There are such a unique combination of southern food and Mediterranean. I knew I had to try the best from both sides, and friends had been telling me to get fried chicken and a gyro, specifically. I honestly didn't want fried chicken, so I got the spicy chicken sandwich instead. And I didn't wanna double down on chicken, so I got the shawarma gyro. The order was supposed to be ready in 5-10 minutes, and I went to browse in ALDI in the meantime. When I got back it was ready, so I grabbed my napkins and I was on my way. To make sure you grab napkins on the way out -- there were none in the bag when they handed it to me. Also, you can dine in if you'd like -- they have plenty of tables, but it's set up like a casual fast restaurant.I got home and was delighted and how yummy everything looked! I had the chicken sandwich first. I loved everything about it. I could always do spicier, but it had a nice kick. The bun was nice, the chicken itself was good I think... tried to taste it by itself but the ends sticking outside of the bun were more bread than meat. But everything together was fantastic. The gyro was one of the most flavorful ones I have had to date... I don't know what kind of magic they got going on, but I loved that. Makes me excited to try more of the Mediterranean selections especially. If you haven't been here yet... go.

This place was amazing! Came here for DC restaurant drink. Got there super early so I sat at the bar. The bartender was so nice and made some great espresso martinis. He was so great that when my friend arrived we decided to stay at the bar instead of taking a table for our reservation. I ordered the chicken, collards and Mac and cheese. EVERYTHING was good! Zero complaints! I will definitely be back. This place is a great spot for girls catch up, a date, or just a solo dinner date.

Oh No Cindy Lou!Yesterday, I'm reading the Eater Essential list and see Cindy Lou's Fish House. James Beard Award nominated Chef Cindy Lou turning out tasty southern treats AND walking distance from my hotel? Slam dunk for me.I walk into a hotel lobby and see the space to the right. A beautiful fire is roaring and the commanding view from every table. No need to sit at a table, I'm by myself so the bar will do fine. And what a bar! Lots of high end spirits, the person running this knows what they're doing. What brought me here was the southern spin. If a James Beard Chef put her spin on a classic dish? I'm down to clown.I sit at the bar and order a beer on tap. A cheerful bartender takes my simple order of Fried Green Tomato stack and the lobster Po Boy.Fried Green Tomato StackThis was a very good starter. If you love FGT as much as I do, you'll be pleased with this dish. My only issue? The tomato stack was built on the plate and the plate sat. The tomatoes didn't have that fresh out of the fryer snap.Lobster Po BoyI was in New Orleans over a year ago and still think about my last Po Boy. What I had last night didn't satisfy any Po Boy cravings. First, why are their micro greens on everything? I had them topping the tomato stack, now they're jammed in the sandwich? And the lobster?? You have a bay FILLED with blue claw crab! My sandwich had four small pieces of fried lobster with, what is that taste, curry? The bread was off, the dressing was off and Cindy? Can you spare some more lobster? I should have ordered the crab cake..Chef Cindy, I've been to the other restaurant Charleston and had the amazing fried oysters. Lose the lobster and slid those Oyster into that Po Boy? Trust me, you'd get that James Beard Award!

"My husband was in the area so he picked up some banana pudding to bring home to me. Great flavor but there were only two vanilla wafers. Add more and it'll be a 5."
"This is a nice laid back grown & sexy spot. Great for brunch, happy hour or a night out. Delicious down home food with friendly service. Karaoke & live music on some nights."
"Girl's day out and first visit. The establishment is very clean, polite staff and plenty of options. I ordered the seafood omelette with cheese grits. Both items were cold and asked for another serving of grits. The eggs were topped with crabmeat and shrimp. Unfortunately, it was much too salty for consumption. The others in my party thoroughly enjoyed their meals. All agreed that the eating utensils should be upgraded as what we used was of poor quality. I would definitely make a return visit and request no salt especially if you're already using Cajun spices."
"Husband and I came in on a weekday evening. We stumbled upon their dinner buffet.Pros-Unfortunately, I don't know any of the names of the dishes at the buffet. I did try a little bit of everything. I really enjoyed the food. It tasted fresh and loved the unique different types of spices used.-There were so many vegetarian and non-vegetarian options-The customer service was outstanding. I'm not sure if it's the owner or manager but he really catered to us. Explains the origin of the food or dish to showing us how to eat the food properly to get the authentic experience. Felt like a mini food tour.-Prices are reasonable.-Ambiance was quiet. This is not a fancy restaurant and had catchy Indian music playing.Cons-Wished they had labels and a small description of the food to know exactly what I was eating.-Parking lot is tight"
"Had the stewed goat and jollof rice! Simply delicious. I'm just getting into the West African food scene but my boo is Naija and he approved!"
"Despite being out of an item on the menu, the service was professional and the food was delicious! You should also make a reservation since their hours are very limited."
"Came here early on a Sunday morning. When we arrived it was not busy at all. Service was friendly but not exceedingly fast. The coffee was very good, and my bagel with salmon on it was awfully good. The place did start to fill up as we were enjoying our breakfast. A few more servers showed up, and it seemed like they were doing a good job taking care of people."
"It's a little old fashion and may need to be updated a bit but the food is clean and delicious! l like the way that the food is delivered and it taste so good, especially the spaghetti and the potatoes or Western fries. It's a good place to get a great meal."
"I absolutely love Andrene's Soul Food & Caribbean Cafe. I ran across this spot on the humble. I was in the area because the traffic was detoured. I had a taste for Caribbean cuisine so decided to give it a try. I'm so glad that I did. I had the chicken curry and my son had the curry goat and oxtails. It was BOMB!!! This is my new spot. I had been looking for a good spot since Sweet Mango closed."
"Enjoyed another great meal at Charleston The turbot and tenderloin were great. The oysters were surprisingly really good- had a very light fry. I wasn't a super big fan of the risotto but I don't usually like risotto- it was more runny and had more liquid than other risottos than I've had. Husband and I wanted to try the white truffle since it was in season but we were both a bit underwhelmed."
"Honestly everyone and everything here was good.1) Turkey necks2) Lamb 3) Drinks... I live in the south so of course I have opinions about southern cooking. This place is doing it right ;)"
"Ok these turkey wings are calm off the bone good. The service is quick and friendly. These turkey wings will cost you 20$ it's a bit steep but you get 2 sides with it. I chose collard greens doubled. The turkey wings sit on a bed of rice. It so good and Turkey are hard to get out. So I pay for them. I have never got sick here and I feel like they take pride In their food preparation. It's looks like some remodeling is going on but currently there is no place to eat here. So they are not a lot of decor here but perhaps it will be open dining one day. I'll be back."
"Local staple in our community. Was craving Turkey wings and wasn't totally disappointed. They were cooked just (not too big like some I've had previously) gravy was tasteful however the rice was a little mushy(I'm sure that has happened to all of us at some point) cabbage was just okay -nothing to right home about but the yams weren't what I've had previously. I say that as they weren't sweet pretty bland(I've had better from here). The service was wonderful as I was greeted immediately once I entered the store and th e line moved quickly. No establishment is ever going to receive 5 stars every time as it's life. What I will say is that I've recommended this place if anyone asks for good soul food. Sadly I didn't take any pictures"
"I wanted to love this place, but maybe it just wasn't meant to be. I'd heard so many great things about the food. Went on a Saturday and ordered through GrubHub for pickup. I live about 30-40 min away, so imagine my surprise when I was told my order wasn't ready AND that they didn't know what I ordered because their GrubHub wasn't working. Ugh. The lady was nice, but I felt they could've called and let me know before I got there. I got the collard green egg rolls, crab egg rolls, lamb chop dinner (with Mac and cheese and green beans) and catfish tenders with fries. The food was okay. The flavor was good, but nothing unique. The portions were small considering the price, and overall I was just disappointed with my experience."
"Catered an order through Mid Atlantic with only a 2 hour notice. The food was amazing! The timing saved me and pick up was on time and ready to go. Seriously can not recommend this place enough! I ordered a platter of fried shrimp, cornbread, Mac & cheese & sweet corn! My office couldn't get enough of the flavor."
"I went here to grab lunch and noticed how bright the lighting is throughout the cafe. Although it's small, there was enough room to sit down and wait for my order. I ordered the beef liver and onions with a side of Mac and cheese and candied yams. Cornbread was also provided. The liver was very tough to chew on but well seasoned. The macaroni and cheese tasted slightly watery and the noodles were soggy. The candied yams were a bit too sweet for me. I also ordered a slice of sweet potato pie, and that was too sweet for me (not pictured). I've had better soul food and will go elsewhere."
"Only open for in-person biscuits and such on Thursday and Saturday mornings; otherwise, order ahead online or catch them at farmers markets (e.g., 32nd St Waverly). The barbecue lamb and egg on large buttermilk biscuit was melt-in-your-mouth delicious! Note: Selections change often. Other than one booth and stools along a wall table, there are a few benches outside. As it was drizzling, I chose a stool--and then it got busy! There is also wall where local works are showcased. I've already been back or ordered online!Further note: Parking is metered on this busy street, but then you have to drive down oneway streets to park on 2-hr. side streets--which I do! Watch out for traffic! Although Blacksauce Kitchen is in Remington, there is only a Get Shredded Vintage and 29th Street Tavern along this somewhat barren, small industrial buildings area. However, a short stroll up the street has more places to see."
"Omg stop the press this place is amazing!!! Best idea for Good Friday I ordered the fish, shrimp & lobster tails and these options did not disappoint. I ordered the greens w/ turkey meat , tuna salad with a twist & Mac and cheese with robust flavors all these sides orders slayed the day. The environment is clean & communal. A kind stranger seated next to me shared his chicken wings with me and they were crispy, fresh & seasoned well!!! This black owned business even has a loyalty card program & the staff here is super friendly and explanatory the chef even offered me a free sample"
"I ordered fish, collar greens, macaroni and cheese, and banana pudding. The fish was excellent. The greens had a strong bitter taste to them, I was unable to take more than 2 bites, I threw them in the trash. The mac & cheese had some strong tasting cheese melted over some very overcooked macaroni, I ate half of this. The banana pudding was loaded with chessman cookies, zero bananas or banana flavor, this was one big nasty tasting mess that I also threw in the trash. What could the people who sell and prepare this mess be thinking. I will never order from them again. I ordered this mess through Uber Eats."
"Carolina Kitchen has been a staple in thr DC area for awhile. This is the first time I did delivery. The food was packaged thoughtfully for delivery, making sure my fried foods wouldnt get damaged. I can appreciate that. My only big grip was that i didnt get gravy with my mash potatoes. If I would have gone in person that would have been an option."
"Located in the historic Lexington market, Connie's did not disappoint and I ate every bite of my meal. They do offer limited bar seating. The customer service was great and the cashier shared his favorite items as it was my first time. I ordered the chicken tenders (2) and red velvet waffle. It took about 10 minutes and it was worth the wait. The chicken is the star and was seasoned to perfection. The waffle had a classic but not overly sweet red velvet taste. It was nice and fluffy. I will be back."
"Pinky's catered a birthday party at the American Legion, Post 206 in Chesapeake Beach today. The food was incredible! Keith fried fish on location as well as burgers, hot dogs and Chicken. Tiffany served pasta salad, potato salad, the world's best Mac'n Cheese, greens were to die for, fresh sweet potatoes, salad and a few other items. If you are looking for someone to make your next event special, consider Pinky's. You will not be disappointed."
"I cannot compliment the food enough at this place! I stopped here as a fluke, really. My fiance and I were looking for a great quaint place in Baltimore to have our wedding reception at, and immediately upon stepping foot in the Louisiana I was blown away. The art, decor, and spacious room is to die for. My fiance and I got engaged in New Orleans, so since I can't bring my guests to Louisiana... I figured we could have a little slice of Louisiana in Baltimore! This place is just so romantic, and would be the absolute amazing first date spot. When we initially sat down for the taste-testing, the food was absolutely phenomenal! That being said, I am absolutely not biased.I stopped in 2 nights ago for Restuarant week. I wanted to confirm that we weren't just given really fabulous food (cooked-to-order) for our taste-testing. My fiance ordered the Duck Confit and I ordered the Shrimp and Grits. Both dishes were so succulent, large and in charge. I have read mixed reviews on the shrimp and grits... but these were the BEST grits I have ever tasted. The shrimp is blackened, and when someone says blackened you better suspect that it will be salty. However the grits with the shrimp, counter act one another and make for the most delicious meal. The Duck Confit was also very succulent, with the meat falling right off the bone. I give the Louisiana 4 stars, because I want my wedding day to live up to its expectations... if all goes smoothly - I may just bump it to that five stars it deserves."
