Vy H. "Came here twice this past week to check out the new restaurant in Burtonsville. The menu is fairly extensive with lots of options to choose. TOP favorites dishes were Lomo Saltado (sautéed steak) and Pollo Saltado (sautéed chicken), both come with french fries and rice--meats are well flavored and decent portions. The Jalea Nortena (whole fried red snapper) looked appetizing but wasn't crunchy enough or well flavored, and we weren't a fan of the basic tartar sauce that comes with it. The Bisteck a lo Pobre (Peruvian style steak) was bland and super dry because it was cooked medium-well closer to well done, when we asked for medium. The Ceviche de Pescado (tilapia fish) was okay. For cocktails, their Mojitos were average, I've had better--they don't even muddle the mint leaves. Pisco Sour seems to be a popular drink here--tried a shot and it wasn't bad!The restaurant is fairly small and they don't take reservations. Sat in the bar area both times--my second time, the music was extremely LOUD, I asked if they could turn it down a bit because it was hard to converse with my friend, but the manager refused. Also, I noticed that staff here are fluent in Spanish not English, so sometimes there's a disconnect when trying to ask for something. Service is a bit slow too. However, the hostess is super friendly and even came over to check on us!"

Now there is Don Pollo. My notes say - pretty yummy chicken, cheap, not bad at all, sauces were just fine, service friendly.Considering that it is one of the less heralded places for Peruvian chicken in the area, it was actually pretty impressive. Definitely more Salvadoran than it is Peruvian, but absolutely worth your time, and they were pretty friendly as well which was an added bonus. So if you're driving by, Pollo-ver to the side and try this out."

The chicken orders are quick, but stir fry plates like Lomo saltado will take another 5 minutes or so.The half chicken order came with two sides and we chose yucca fries and plantains. The yucca fries had a good crispy texture while fluffy and chewy inside. The plantains were sweet and caramelized which was a good balance to the well seasoned (salt forward) chicken and beef in the lomo saltado. The stir fried beef pieces were super tender and delicious with the gravy soaked fries and rice. The generous serving size fed us three well with left overs."

The Brussels sprouts were good (family says they're normally seasoned better). I'll opt for rice the next time but was careful of too much carbs. Anna S. "If you're looking for a 5-star, low key dining experience that feels straight out of New York City but for a fraction of the cost, Puerto 511 is the place to go. I can't recommend it enough! This small, unassuming restaurant packs a punch with big, fresh flavors. It's located on a small side street near the Bromo Arts District. The outside is painted black and you have to ring a doorbell to gain entry. Very speakeasy esque. Once inside, you'll find yourself in a dining room that seats no more than 30 people at once. A small window looks into the bustling kitchen and the walls are lined with colorful artwork. The menu is straightforward: five courses for $55 per person during the week and $65 on the weekends. I love a prix fixe menu that takes all pressure of decision making off of my shoulders. It's BYOB too so we brought a couple bottles of wine to take advantage of the small corkage fee of around $2.50 a person, plus a bottle of pisco to enjoy their famous pisco sour service for just $3 a pop. The pisco sours were absolutely divine - probably the best I've ever had. My boyfriend doesn't even like them normally but ordered quite a few rounds - they were that good! Each course came out perfect, one after the next. The standouts were the tamalito, a play on a deconstructed tamale which was the perfect bite of flavorful corn, fresh radish, and spicy sauce, and then the ceviche which consisted of fresh fish, octopus, and shrimp in a citrusy tiger's milk sauce. My only note is that if you are someone with a dietary restriction, make sure to triple check with the chef about the menu. I made a note in my reservation that I am gluten free and while my dessert was served with no churro to accommodate this, the main entree consisted of steak marinated in soy sauce which is definitely not gluten free. If you have a serious food allergy, this may not be the best place for you given the set menu. That said, I would definitely return to keep supporting Puerto 511. It's a great spot to celebrate a special occasion or even if you just want to impress someone with a unique date night."

However, the chicken is more than outstanding. It was tender and falls off the bone. The flavor explodes into your taste buds. Colonel Sanders of KFC fame uses 11 secret herbs, and spices. The coleslaw was flavorful. * Lomo Saltado * Beef pieces, tomatoes, onions, and peppers smothered in sauce accompanied with fries and rice. They are also very accommodating of our children who want the proteins but none of the garnishes or extras. The rotisserie chicken is my favorite thing from them. The marinade is SO delicious and the chicken is juicy. Be sure to get their dipping sauces too, they are both sooooooo good! My son will eat two containers of the chipotle one in one meal. I've gotten the same thing both times I've visited because it's just so good. Generous portions too...maybe a little bit too generous. I got the 1/4 white meal, which is seasoned perfectly, and is not as dry as one would expect breast meat to be. They have several choices for sides, but I went with the yucca and green beans. The yucca is fried and tastes much better than regular French fries. The green beans are good, but only if I coated them with the green sauce because they are a bit bland. The other side selections look pretty good, they also have rice, coleslaw, plantains, salad, mixed veggies, and beans. My co-worker got fries, and said they were really good. My only complaint is the service. There was a little bit of a line, and instead of the lady at the register getting straws, she made the man preparing food stop what he was doing to go get straws to put out by the soda fountain. Things might go faster and more smoothly with more people working out front. I'll keep coming here since the food is so good, but won't have high expectations as far as the service goes."

Fox E. "More like Primadonna Chicken.I understand that Baltimore doesn't have as many incredible food options as, say, Philly, NYC or Buffalo, but come on. The chicken here isn't even as good as the lower-end Peruvian chicken places in DC, and there are 3 chicken places here in Baltimore that I can name that taste better than this.Maybe because it's in the run-down West Baltimore area, where most businesses are boarded up, shut down, and moved on. It's good that this area has a little something. But each person before me in line was treated like a persona non-grata by the employees, and then I was, too. I asked to buy just chicken without sides and they were very pissy about it. Then they went and charged me the same (obscenely high) price as if I would have got the sides. Do they think I'm stupid? They told me I can buy the chicken separately and then charge me for the dinner... I mean, I'll still pay for it without complaining but that kind of crap gets you a star less than you would have. So: treating customers badly -1. Food not that great -1. Ripping me off -1. And that, my friends, is how you end up with a 2 star rating when I usually would never give less than a 3 to a family business. If I'd consider bumping them up because I feel bad, then I only need to look at how overrated this place is on Yelp, to say no... it stays where it deserves to stay. 2 star.I'd rather go to Perm-o Chicken and have my hair done like a chicken. I found this place when my car broke down last year. It was in some random area off the road. Probably the worst location ever. But where they lose in location, they make up in food, prices, and quantities. I attached a picture I've had now twice. No complaints except they overcharge on the drinks IMO. A whole chicken and two large sides feeds us pretty well. My wife prefers white meat so we get all white meat and the price doesn't jump tremendously. Everything taste as if it was marinated for hours because the flavors just mesh so well. I'm a big fan of the mixed veggies(zucchini, squash, carrots and broccoli) so I always order an extra side of that. Growing up, zucchini and squash were not on the list of vegetables I liked but Limas does such a great job with flavoring/seasoning that they are now my favorite veggies. The rice is packed with red/green peppers and onions and it taste delicious. Honestly it may be the standout dish of the meal. My kids always want extra rice with their meals and I can't blame them. There were three different empanadas: chicken, chorizo, and beef. The texture of these were okay. I would have liked them to be crispier.
