Bird River Inn Crab House

The ambiance was rustic and a very nice bar scene decorated for the holidays. This bar seems to be supported by locals and sports buffs. Huge tv's hugged the upper walls, grabbing the attention of patrons. Honestly, I was bored by being pummeled with sports. The young lady behind the bar said to sit anywhere, all there were was the hightops and bar stools, we prefer a low table, there were none, maybe way in the back where no one was seated. She brought over the 2-sided menus, I asked what they do well here, as it was our first visit. She made her recommendations, and my husband got the cheesesteak sub with French fries (upcharge).I ordered the chicken wings with ranch and celery (8 for $10.95), not bad! She said they were good here, also the hamburgers , I can't remember what else they do well, other than the crab cake.We did not order anything with alcohol, so I am at a loss there. They do have beer on tap and bottles.The cheesesteak was good, fresh roll and tasty meat. The fries were as expected, nothing outstanding. Just good for bar food.My chicken wings were not puny, just normal size and market value, had them made to be mild. This came with celery (quite fresh and crunchy), the ranch was poured off into a plastic cup.Both orders came in plastic baskets, and a paper plate for bone discard. Plenty of napkins.Have to hand it to them, in-between sports, they played music and they sure do have a kicking stereo system, really great quality. It was a welcome break.She did visit once to make sure all was Ok and any needs. All was fine.The bill came , I checked it and gave her my cc, she returned and the bill was altered and the price of the cheesesteak went up $3!Honestly, I did not say anything or check the bill against the menu, which was put away. I just chalked it up as an oversight on the server's part. She did not say anything about the price adjustment either. I can understand a mistake in the charge. Just say something. I guess I am overreacting at this point. Sigh.

Excellent crabs. Fair price. The location is very remote or at least it felt that way late at night. The staff was very attentive. The kitchen closes at 10 and I'm pretty sure the bar atmosphere kicks into high gear. We left about 10:30. We definitely would go back.

The bartenders (Emily & Megan) are always so welcoming and the food is great at reasonable prices. Steak night (Thurs) is awesome!-Nick

We were driving from DC to NJ and wanted crabs in mid-November. We were so lucky to stumble across this hidden gem in a residential neighborhood. My BF ordered a dozen large blue crabs, and old bay spicy wings. I ordered meatloaf and mash potatoes with gravy. Everything was delicious. Crabs were plump, juicy, sweet and meaty. The meatloaf and mash potatoes were to die for! I highly recommend this place.

Good food and great atmosphere, don't be fooled by the outside appearance. Definitely a hidden gem of a dive

My family has came to bird river for years, my family was in town visiting & we decide to go Eat. We were treated so poorly. The kitchen staff/lady kept attacking us because our car alarm went off. So we decided to leave & as my aunt tried to pay the bill the same lady from the kitchen got severely nasty with her. if I could give this place no stars I would. the service was terrible in between time, couldn't even get waited on for the first hour. Learn how to treat people.

Love this place! It's like visiting your friends house for crabs. Not fancy but the food is good and the service is great and friendly. Love the crabs, fresh hot and seasoned nicely.

I went there for HH. The drinks were good an cheap. The food I found marginal. The Md soup was very good. I also had zucchini sticks. They were heavily breaded. The cod fish cakes were ok. The place was clean and it had a heavy local flare. I would go again and try something more substantial on the menu.

Passed by the place many times....went for the first time Friday 02/02/24. Place gives a rustic beach vibe. Beautiful. Staff was friendly, the food was good and reasonably priced, and the service was very good. Husband and I will be back in the future.

We came to Baltimore for the Preakness and where looking for a crab dinner. We picked this place over several other establishments in the area based on high review Yelp. I have to say this place and Yelp let us down it was not what we were looking for. First we texted to call to see if they were serving crabs and the phone went right to voicemail should moved on to another place at that point my bad Decided to try it after being greeted by several bikers some wearing colors at the door almost left again but decided to overlook the greeters and go in. The staff took us to back section that was great private and homey we had nice waitress that got us drinks and when we we ordered No Crabs or Oysters none till Father's Day we were told. Should have left at that point but stayed the bar food we did order was marginal to sub par for one of the best restaurant cities in the US. This is a local biker bar just so you know
