Recently relocated to Annapolis and decided to try Basmati's as we very much enjoy Indian food. Being lazy, we opted for delivery which always runs the risk of not reflecting well on any establishment. Not so for Basmati!First, prep time was quick despite being prime time on Saturday. Food was beautifully packaged and arrived hot. I neglected to take pictures of the packaging - but all dishes were in well sealed plastic containers, with the rice being in a standard foil bottom, cardboard top container. Liquids were double wrapped in foil as well. And the whole order was in a nice Basmati branded bagFor our first foray we tried a variety of dishes: veggie samosas, chicken korma, dal makhani, tandoori shrimp, alu gobi, and keemah mutterAll were good, solid representations of the dishes. Our mistake, we chose mild as we weren't familiar with how the restaurant prepared the recipes. We definitely should have chosen medium (for wide and son) and for those who prefer more of a kick I would recommend opting for spicy. Our spice selection not withstanding - the standout dishes were the samosas as and the tandoori shrimp. Universal praise. The lamb was the next most popular dish with the others all being satisfying as well, just not quite jumping out as "stellar". Basmati delivered (no pun intended) as good, easy Indian food and we are definitely excited to try the other items on the menu. And have more samosas as well!!!

Sharing the rude and unprofessional response that I just received from the owner. Notice that her response was sent to me via direct message vs. my original post. As you can see, I gave honest, constructive feedback, but I guess the truth hurts and it's evident. Will for sure not be spending my money here and will caution others about this place also

Delicious, delicious, delicious! The staff is attentive and very courteous. During lunch hours, you can order from their extensive menu or enjoy their buffet, which I may add is a terrific deal--$ 16 for vegetarian, vegan, and meat options. There is always a soup and appetizers like samosas or pakoras. It even includes chai tea. The spiciness level is mild. This is a must-try spot; I would drive to eat here if I were not in the area. To me, is that good? The decor is lovely, with a soft ambiance and music, if any. It is the perfect place for a nice lunch date or a quick but satisfying lunch during work hours. How am I supposed to work after this feast?? I have no idea, but I will keep you posted!

When my kids were younger, weed, frequent basmati restaurant often. One big reason was because I have three sons, and they will eat me out of house and home so having the benefit of going to an all you can eat buffet was a blessing. On this day, we just decided on a whim to head up. Unfortunately, we missed the buffet, but we ordered some of our classic favorites, we started with the two piece, veggie vegetable samosas and decided to try the Mulligawtny soup. Both were delicious. The soup was ground lentils, with a nice spice level. Not over the top but just enough to make you know it was in there. The samosas were served with three different sauces. all of which were delicious. One was sweet, one not so sweet and one that had a nice kick to it. I couldn't decide which one I liked the best so I put all three of them on. The Samosas were just like I remembered crispy on the outside with smashed vegetables, potatoes, peas, carrots, with a curry sort of flavored undertone that was just delicious! I actually think a serving size of three would be better but I might just be greedyThe tandoori chicken, sizzling and generously portioned came out with peppers and onions. It wasn't spicy or is it supposed to be, but very well seasoned, along with a large bowl of basmati rice. It was good to return to Basmati. Next time we won't late so far in between visits!

About a 3-3.5: Basmati Indian Cuisine seems to be a favorite Indian restaurant, nestled in Annapolis. They have an extensive menu, offering items such as various appetizers (such as shrimp pakora, paneer pakora, aloo tikki, samosas, etc.), soups, salads, tandoor items, chicken/lamb/seafood/rice/vegetable specialties, breads, desserts, and drinks. We were craving for some Indian, specifically a buffet in which we could a try a variety - I was so glad to have called and have them confirm that they had a weekend buffet! The set-up was pretty generous, as they had a variety of accompaniments (mango chutney, raita. tamarind dressing), vegetable samosas, vegetable pakoras, fish pakora, tandoori chicken, BBQ chicken, goat curry, basmati rice, dal makhani, a mutter and mushroom paneer, garlic and butter naan, gulab jamun, kheer, and hot masala chai!My favorites were:+the veggie samosas with the slightly spicy tamarind sauce+the mutter and mushroom paneer+the BBQ chicken (this had more flavor in terms of spices than the regular tandoori chicken)+the gulab jamun (small, bite-sized pieces that were served hot!)+extra hot, unsweetened masala chai (can add sugar if you wish, but a great complement while eating the gulab jamun)Service was a little brisk, but efficient, and we had our waters refilled often and plates were taken away quickly; everyone was friendly, kind, and welcoming.I just couldn't believe the price, though - super competitive, considering it was a weekend, and how much they offered in their buffet! There were many patrons piling in during the lunch rush.Plenty of parking in the strip plaza lot.+competitively-priced weekend buffet!+veggie samosas with tamarind sauce+gulab jamun+hot masala chai+kind service+plenty of parking in strip plaza lot

This is my family's favorite Indian spot in MD! We have been coming here for over 10 years and it never disappoints. Some of my favorite dishes are the fish pakora, butter chicken, garlic naan, and paneer chili. The mango lassi is also one of the best I've had! So good we always end up ordering another! The service is great with friendly and attentive staff and the lovely ambiance of the restaurant makes it feel like a special treat when we get to eat here! We love Basmati!!!

Worst restaurant experience ever. We came hoping to have a relaxing Sunday lunch but instead we got rushed barely had more than 4 bites next thing we knew we were being forced to leave coz they close at 2:30. We got to the restaurant at 1:55pm so why even bother seating us. At 2:30 the check comes out to the dining area, removes he's shoes and sleeps on the seats right next to us. I'm being very generous giving 1 star- they 100% don't deserve a rating. Never ever are we going back. Terrible experience and regret we even paid for such crappy service
