Baker's Pit Beef

​After being newly assigned to the Essex precinct I noticed this hidden gem while on patrol one day. When I finally got the opportunity to stop by I was not disappointed.I've only lived in Maryland since 2015, so I haven't tried them all, but I will say this is the best pit beef I've had since moving to the East Coast.Not only was the food excellent, but the gentlemen running the place are friendly, engaging, and really let you know how much they appreciate your patronage.This place is definitely worth traveling to if you're in the market for a good pit beef sandwich. The pit beef and fries are the only menu items I've had a chance to try, but if they put as much into the rest of the menu as the items I've tried, I'm sure they're excellent.

Their beef pit sandwich is the best I have ever had. The meat is so tender and not dry at all. The bbq sauce and the horseradish sauce just made the beef go so well together! They did not go stingy on the amount of meat to put on either! I even shared my half of the sandwich and I was full! It was seriously the best meal I had since visiting Baltimore. Looking forward to their beef sandwich again when I come visit again! Next time, I will have to try other things on their menu too!

The meat was cooked just as we asked, however needed some seasoning. What made us decide not to go back was the fries. Frozen then fried. A good pit beef establishment should cut and dip their fries to order. With places like Chaps or Andy Nelson's around the corner you have to stand out or get out. Sorry Baker's.

Great local spot. Food is fresh and made to order. Ordered the Pit Beef with onions, bbq sauce, and horseradish and tasted great! The fries were fresh from the fryer and hit the spot.Staff is super friendly and helpful when it came to any questions I had.

Get the large beef. This guy at my work is from Philly. He said there is too much beef in the large beef sandwich. How can there be too much beef? Sounds perfect to me. Baker's has really high quality pit beef. Really lean and super thin slices. It is the best, better than chaps for sure. Pretty cheap for what you get too!

This place is the bomb, best beef in Maryland. But if you go there it won't be on the menu but ask for The Show it's sloppy joe and pitbeef. It's like biting into a piece of heaven
