Atwater's, behind a green storefront, has an event-space upstairs. Parking can take some patience, with a few spots in back, and more out front on Frederick Road and on side streets such as Mellor. Inside, if you cannot climb the long staircase, there's an open elevator where you press and hold the up or down button. You'll find a calm open semi-casual room with art on every wall and several windows with pleasant views. There's seating for about 50, at tables for two or four, and one long table for six or eight. We often come here for their monthly wine tasting club. They offer generous short-pours of usually six or eight red and white and sparkling samples around a different theme each month. There's always a menu of creative small plates you can buy, and every one has always been very tasty. And they select two wines that you take home, which pretty much pays for the moderate monthly fee. We love it and rarely miss a month. This time (Oct 2024) we came for one of their occasional Community Dinners, this one with produce from one of their associates, One Straw Organic Farm. Now, this dinner was vegetarian, and only Atwater's history of serving us tasty food could get me to try that. Oh my! Amazing! I started with a fresh bright salad: arugula, pear, and Atwater's National Pike cheddar with garlic dressing. Then i bravely dipped into the soup: toasted cauliflower soup with rosemary. An amazing deep savory flavor accented by toasted walnuts, measuring up with something terrific i had once in a little French restaurant long ago. This was great, and I knew I'd love the meal ahead. There were two more wonderful dishes: a "Tartine", rich thick ratatouille over whole-grain bread, with shaved Piedmont cheese; and a smooth-textured polenta with broccolini, caramelized fennel pieces, roasted turnip-wedges, and a few summer cherry-tomatoes, in a thick red sauce. For dessert, they sweetened some butternut squash baked into a Tatin tart, topped with ice cream flavored by mildly-banana-like good old country paw paw fruits. It's great chefs who can take ingredients you used all your life and raise their flavors to a new level. This was that. A fine meal at a moderate price.

Our first time and it was good. The service for the lost part was excellent. Some slight glitches at the end but overall very professional and knowledgeable. The food was excellent. I had a home town breakfast that was done well. Potatoes could have been crispier and seasoned better. The business operates as a restaurant, bakery and coffee shop. Lots of options for baked goods and we tried a few that were great. Very busy location and staff handled it well. We'll definitely return.

I've been twice and enjoyed the experience. The service really brings this review to a solid 5. I would only give the food a 4/4.5 depending on what you get but the servers are always crazy nice and helpful.Ham Jam Sandwich: ham, cheddar cheese, jam on a biscuit. I added a fried egg, which was a nice addition. I would ask for more jam on the side. Their biscuits aren't like traditional, thick, buttermilk southern round biscuits. They're rectangular, on the thinner side (which works well to hold the Sandwich together perfectly), and very soft.Would definitely get again.Pancakes: they're unique... Have an ingredient that I can't pinpoint... They're fine but they don't stand out to me. Bacon: not thick but not annoyingly thin. Cooked well... This is important to know lol I would get againAvocado toast: was not giving at all. Needs something else to brighten it.. Maybe something citrus to compliment the other flavors. Wouldn't get again.I'm curious enough to keep coming back though!

The shop has a very small store front and I was shocked to see such a spacious cafe behind the doors. The service was helpful and friendly when I walked in. There are a FEW options to sit down inside --and outside of the shop on a nice day. I dropped in to grab a decaf iced coffee and it was completely disgusting. I took a sip leaving out and thought it was horrible, but figured I could doctor it up in the car. I don't know what happened, but I got a bad batch of coffee, bad milk, or bad something.I highly recommend making sure your drink is right before leaving because I wasted $7 because I didn't go back in.

I always love visiting Atwater's at DMV farmers' markets so I was really excited to finally stop by the brick and mortar location! It's a really cute space, there are a few tables downstairs near where you order, but there's a good amount of space upstairs too. We got some tasty seasonal lattes and a few goodies from the pastry case- it was a few days before Halloween so there were some cute themed options like mini monster cakes and Halloween cupcakes. Our favorite was the pumpkin croissant, which was shaped like a jack o'lantern and full of pumpkin butter. This would be such a cute place to come back for brunch!

My husband and I visited Atwater's today hoping to enjoy delicious, healthy meal. I noticed many of my fellow Yelp Elites enjoyed this place, so I figure I would too. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed and highly doubt I will return. My husband ordered a Grilled Corn Beef Reuben without Sauerkraut, while I ordered the Field Green Salad with grilled chicken. After driving away, my husband took a bite into his sandwich which a face full of confusion. Turns out, he was given the Turkey Reuben instead of the Corn Beef Reuben. He called the restaurant to inform them of the mishap and the nice young lady on the phone apologized and offered to make him the correct sandwich, which he agreed to. Unfortunately, his second sandwich was still incorrect, as he ordered the Grilled Corn Beef Reuben without Sauerkraut and the sandwich had kraut .The Field Green Salad I ordered was just ok, as it was missing the apples. I definitely would have enjoyed it more as the apples would have added some crunch and a bit of sweetness. They were also out of the mixed greens that normally come in the salad, so they substituted arugula, which completely overpowered the dish. Needless to say, after spending over $50 on what we thought would be a quick, easy and thoughtless dinner, we're not happy. Neither of us finished our meals meaning we have to venture back out to spend more money. Sure, the staff of friendly, but that no consolation for receiving an order you didn't pay for.

We were meeting family for brunch and have been to other Atwater's before, so went to the one in Catonsville. This location is super cute and looks over the historic downtown area. The space is bright and welcoming as were all the staff. The food was wonderful and we enjoyed our spirited morning cocktails too! Can't get those at our local spot. After, we wandered and shopped the area, perfect for a weekend morning.

I thought the food way ok - I got the tofu banh mi which def did not taste great & was kind of watery. Food looks aesthetically pleasing but was just alright. As for the environment, I like the vibe, there restaurant in the 2nd floor while the cafe & bakery is on the first floor. I think it's a good place for a date or to catch up with a friend but I wouldn't go back for the food.

I live down the street and had never been to Atwater's before this past Friday. The sandwich and salad my friend and I offered were amazing. The staff were super friendly and accommodating, my chai latte was beautiful and tasty. Don't get me started on the pastries/cupcakes. Will absolutely be back.
