As a Jamaican, I can be pretty critical of Caribbean restaurants. The food here is authentic and tasty. It is definitely my go to in DC

Came here with a friend on a Saturday Afternoon. Immediately upon walking in we were greeted by a lady straightening up the dining room and singing alongn to the gospel songs playing. She was so warm and friendly. Later finding out, it was the owner Andrene herself!!! The food??? Best Caribbean food I've had in DC. And I'm not asking. The beef patties...hands down the best texture, crust, taste! We finished them before our food was even ready!! We also ordered the combination plate of oxtail and curry chicken. The food came out in less than 10 minutes. Portions were extremely fair for the price, and it tasted amazing.I live a little far from this place, so I'm grateful for the chance to try them today. I will surely be back, even if I just have to make the trip. So many other things on the menu to try. But just by Andrene's spirit, you can tell this food is made with love!!!

I usually enjoy Andrenes but last week I did NOT enjoy my food or service. Macaroni and cheese was cold and had no flavor. Oxtail was not tender and rice was over cooked. Not sure if Andrene is getting tired of running her establishment bc she usually is smiling and friendly. I felt like I was a nuisance coming in spending $5 for nasty ssa Mac and terrible oxtails. Jam doung I'll go back to.

Deelish food. I love the beef ribs. The whole fish is good as well. It's very consistent and Andrene goes above and beyond. I was overwhelmed by her kindness at my last visit. The food is great! You can't go wrong with anything here. Highly recommend.

Ms. Andrene & her daughter are lovely people and their food is bomb dot com! I am visiting from out of town and I asked a friend where is the best Jamaican spot out here -- and he said Andrenes! Our friend got the oxtails and we got the whiting + cabbage + rice and peas + plantains with jerk on the side. Also had the coco bread! The ambiance was so authentic and filled with real good energy! Will be back here!

I absolutely love Andrene's Soul Food & Caribbean Cafe. I ran across this spot on the humble. I was in the area because the traffic was detoured. I had a taste for Caribbean cuisine so decided to give it a try. I'm so glad that I did. I had the chicken curry and my son had the curry goat and oxtails. It was BOMB!!! This is my new spot. I had been looking for a good spot since Sweet Mango closed.

Loved the great customer service. The beef patties and wings where delicious. The place was clean and welcoming.

I can see why this restaurant has maintained their longevity. Pretty decent food. Quite honestly, I've had better oxtail but I would place Andrene's in the top 10. My husband enjoyed his & knowing him ... that's a definite 4 star endorsement.

Easily the worst food I've had in DC...I would not feed that to the rats...only ting worst was the service...do not waste ur money..Garbage

I ordered the curry shrimp and rice and peas which were so salty that I couldn't eat it. Also the shrimp didn't taste fresh. I'm giving 2 stars because the coco bread was good. Don't know if it was an off day but I won't return.
