Akira Ramen and Sushi - A Mixed ExperienceFinding parking near Akira Ramen and Sushi in Towson is a bit of a hassle, as most spots around the area require payment. That was the first drawback, but I was in town on business and looking for a healthier meal option, so I decided to give this place a try for takeout. For an appetizer, I ordered the takoyaki (octopus balls), and I was pleasantly surprised. They were well-made, flavorful, and had a nice texture--definitely a highlight of the meal. For the main course, I went with their Akira Ramen, which includes [Curly noodle, tonkotsu salt flavor with chashu (pork), beansprout, egg, fishcake, corn, scallion, bamboo shoot, wood ear, and nori. Pork broth]. Unfortunately, the pork was a big letdown. It was tough and chewy, as if it had been overcooked or not properly prepared. The broth itself also lacked the depth of flavor I was hoping for, making the overall ramen experience underwhelming. On the positive side, service was good, and my takeout order was prepared quickly. However, the food itself didn't impress me enough to make a return visit worthwhile. Given the parking issues, the average flavors, and the disappointing pork, I'd rate Akira Ramen a 3 out of 5 stars.Would I go back? Probably not. But if you're in the area and really craving ramen, it might be worth a shot--just don't set your expectations too high.

I tried this local business one evening with my family. I had high hopes for this restaurant as it was our first time. I recently saw different locations and wanted to try. The server was quick and fast. We ordered a few different bowls along with sushi, chicken tenders and strawberry milk tea. The food was bland and lacked flavor. The sushi was just ok. The chicken tenders were good including the special sauce. The server replaced my daughter's chicken tenders after they fell on the floor by accident. I will not be returning as I just don't think this cuisine is for my family and I.

I did not like the ramen at all. The broth wasn't tasty. It almost had a really bad smell and flavor. The sushi was ok. You order on the menus and then the food comes to your table if you're dining in. I would maybe try something else here at another time. It was also very pricey.

Really enjoyed the ramen take out I had from here. Ordering was easy when we walked in on the kiosk and the wait wasn't long (even with a 4 yr old in tow). I got the shrimp tempura ramen, which was packaged separately for take out (broth, ramen add-in's, and tempura shrimp were all separate). The broth was very tasty and everything was super fresh. Tempura shrimp was good, not too greasy. Not many other ramens to try for me as I don't eat beef or pork, but would def get it again and try the veggie ramen.

This was a nice, clean place to grab a fast bite for lunch. I appreciate the attentiveness and kindness of the server. We enjoyed the crazy salmon roll, just the perfect amount of heat and flavor. The jalapeño and salmon were perfect. As a shareable we enjoyed the Chashu buns which were very flavorful and a decent size. My husband loved the Karaage ramen. The Karaage is essentially fried chicken bites, perfectly crispy and paired with a nice dipping sauce. We had plenty of food plus leftovers. Only request would be for more beverage options.

So decided to stop and grab a bite while out shopping on my birthday. It's pretty much a self service restaurant. It has 2 stations to use to order and pay. The only drawback for me was not all items were explained as to what they were. Otherwise, it's definitely a game changer. The space is limited. The ramen was and tempura was very good though. Will definitely be back.

I enjoyed the sushi very much. Ordered takeout 3 times from here now. You want a solid volcano roll, shrimp tempura, gyoza, or the king dragon roll, this spot will set you up. Real good stuff. I list those specific menu items 'cause I ain't had anything else, but I was happy with all those.
