This is the go to ramen spot in Howard County. The food is delicious and the service is great. I love the volcano ramen, which has the spicy kick needed to warm you up on a cold day. The broth is rich and flavorful and definitely fills you up. Also, the ramen comes out pretty quickly too. I recommend coming during lunch when they first open, since it typically isn't super busy. I've found that there is more of a wait when you try to come for dinner. They do close for some time in between lunch and dinner, so make sure to check the time before heading over.

This is not the best Ramen. It is however, at the mall. I had the Akira Ramen with added mushrooms. I also had the karaage. My so had the tonkotsu shoyu. In general, the food lacked flavor.Pros:- Conveniently located- Friendly service-pretty bowlCons:- Overcooked ramen- Broth lacks flavor- Pork sliced super thin and no flavor on its own- messy environment (they need to wipe down the booth and floors before seating)- smaller portion than the other guys The karaage was cooked well but lacked a strong flavor. Better sauce pairings are recommended.

Visited this wonderful place a week ago for a take out order of noodle soup and a sushi roll to-go. I was greeted up front with a great host. I ordered, waited and left happily with the service. The ambiance was nice too. Good restaurant for a date or for a couple of friends to enjoy time together. I returned home and unpacked everything I was soooooo happy / pleasantly surprised !1. The food was packaged so well. Everything was sorted into seperate containers and the portions were great (soup parts were done with care y'all)2. The sushi was packaged well also and had plenty of pickled ginger and wasabi, soy sauce (if you needed it, you don't) ... yep no skimping on what matters.THE TASTE - WOW. I ate the special roll orderd quickly because it tasted sooo good. It was flavorful, fresh and worth the money. The soup was great too. Every slurp was delicious and clean packed with flavor and sublte seasonings. Great work team. I'll be back !!

Local Japanese restaurant near The Mall in Columbia and I wish I had tried it out sooner.Parking is across the street in the mall parking lot. Just be careful crossing the street.Atmosphere is bright and welcoming, the decor has warm tones of nature with distinctive touches to let you know that you are in a Japanese restaurant. Their hot bowls of ramen are very popular. Handmade noodles! Keep them coming! Most bowls of ramen come piping hot to the table that the server needs to wear special gloves. All of the ingredients were presented to appeal to the eyes and very fresh. Each ramen comes with a delicious flavorful broth and in generous portions to fill anyone who is hungry.Dipping sauces went well with the meals. We had two preteens and they loved the ability to mix and taste a variety of flavors and textures. The birthday girl also happened to get a cute complimentary dessert. I would definitely come back, perhaps during a less busy time of the week. The service was quick, helpful explanations were easily provided and the prices were quite reasonable.

I visited this spot for a late lunch after a retwist appointment and opted for indoor seating at the sushi-making station. I ordered the fried oysters as an appetizer, but they arrived after my Miso Ramen. The oysters were delicious and crispy! However, I found the Miso Ramen broth lacking in flavor and only mildly warm. Overall, my experience was decent, but I'm uncertain if I'd return specifically for the ramen.

Akira Ramen was incredible! We tried a bunch of appetizers--karaage fried chicken, shrimp agedashi, king dragon roll, gyoza, and takoyaki--and every single one was amazing. I went with the Akira Volcano Ramen, and it definitely hit the spot. Our waiter, Justin, was super funny and made the whole experience even better. Great food, great vibe--definitely coming back!

Akira Ramen is a household staple for us! We have ordered it for delivery and dined in several times. Both options are great, but as you can imagine, the dining in option hits better! This past experience was great. Our server, Justin, was very skilled and personable. He interacted with everyone at the table individually -- even the kids. The ambiance is also calm, giving off a traditional Japanese vibe from the call/response the staff does when new guests arrive to the robots delivering our meals to our table. The food is always delicious with a favorite being the ramen itself! They even have traditional beverages such as Ramune & sparkling plum wine. Great experience!!!

Visited Akira Ramen with a big group (15) and we were all pleased with the food, service, and ambiance. My favorite pick for the appetizers are the clams and takoyaki, flavors are wonderful with both of these, it is a must try!My hubs ordered the volcano ramen and I ordered the tonkotsu miso soup, the broth for both was flavorful and rich. Portions were generous. Service was attentive as well even though we had a big group. Note that gratuities are included with a group of 8+.Overall a pretty good pick for ramen in the MD area, loved the atmosphere as well.

The ramen and fried octopus are solid options! Considering the proximity and convenience of the location, I do visit occasionally, but the service this time was less than satisfactory. Our sushi we ordered, never came out, and our server seemed to try and rush us to pay and leave. Besides the service, I think Akira is a decent spot for ramen and such.
