I have had Ballast Point several times at this point now and had a fair range of their beers, granted it was mostly IPA'S but I do have to say each of their IPA'S has distinguishing characteristics so you indeed can separate the difference from one IPA from another. My most favorite of their beers at this point anyway is their Sculpin IPA series. I simply love the brewery's Grapefruit Sculpin and the regular Sculpin I like quite well also. After doing some poking around they also have a Habanero Sculpin which I would love to try sometime but thus far has eluded me.The two Sculpin IPA'S you can expect to be light bodied, hoppy, fruity and sweet and of course Grapefruit with the Grapefruit version.Moving on from the Sculpin series the Watermelon Dorado was another excellent beer and left very impressed with. A nice light, dry, hoppy and wheat oriented beer.Big Gus, another IPAbI found very refreshing as well with it's fruity, hoppy, sweet and strong characteristics. Moving out of IPA territory I had the Grunion Pale Ale. I liked this one but not quite as much as the IPA'S. It is floral, hoppy, fruity and smooth with a light body.I walk away very impressed with the beers I have had from Ballast Point and I would be very excited to get the Habanero Sculpin. Perhaps someday that will materialize.

Beverages: Always has legit beersFood: Solid pub food- we had the braised beef nachos with nacho beer cheese, feta cheese and pickled red onions. Service: Polite, friendly, quick service Ambience: You're in the city with planes flying overhead and cars driving by...what do you expect? Weather in SD was nice in mid June out on the patio. Can't complain.

It's the Sculpin that brought you here but it's the Aloha and Longfin that made you fall in love. There's nothing like drinking a beer in the sun with wafts of the sea weaving in and out. The only good thing about COVID was the added deck on India Street. This piece of furniture sets the mood when it's bright and cheerful. It's definitely a vibe. My kinda town...

Ok we know the beers are good but their food options omg! We went from "we are not terribly hungry, let's just share an app" to "let's order all the apps". It's refreshing to have an amazing brewery that's equipped with a kitchen and menu items.

Decent brewpub with decent food. It was extremely loud so be mindful of that. Great beer selection.

Flew into SD and this was our first stop for our long weekend adventure. We initially chose this place since we love a great brewery and my husband has had their beers before. He really enjoyed it in the past and wanted to try them again. I was surprised to find parking immediately, they have a row of parking right next to the brewery. The brewery it self is large and very kid friendly. It's open seating and have plenty seats for everyone. It's very lively and saw that they had a patio for those warmer days. You place your order at the counter for food and beer. They had a great selection of food but wished we ordered more of a variety to try them all. We ordered their wings naked with sauce on the side and by far they are the best wings we ever had. My boys devoured them in seconds. We also had their nachos. I wish they had more toppings to it..it was a little too plain for my liking. We also had the audio fries. It was good in theory but wished they used less cheese. But overall everything was great. I ordered their micheleda and wasn't a huge fan of it, I definitely need to head back to try their other stuff.

Eagerly anticipated coming here after my wife and I had a great experience years ago. Well this time, I was left disappointed. Three of us ordered samplers and while the pours are still generous, the beers were below average. I honestly don't know what has happened to this place, but their darker beer offerings are trending down. Surprisingly, their small batch offerings were even sad. Perhaps getting too large has affected their quality? Better places to visit in my opinion.

First time here, the staff were really friendly they saw my ID and we chatted about Oregon. I got the Al pastor chicken sandwich and the nitro sculpin. Everything was delicious! The nitro sculpin was really smooth. The Al pastor chicken sandwich had great seasoning and their fries are nice and crispy. Good place for groups. I like their little merch shop in the back.

My husband and I love going to this place! They have a kitchen with a decent food menu, and the beers are well-known favorites. That are always delicious! There's plenty of seating, dogs are welcome, kids are welcome.

Ballast Point is a great spot for drinks and food in the Little Italy area. It's kid friendly too! The taproom has plenty of comfortable tables for dining plus the bar area. It's good for people popping in on their own or groups. Each table has a QR code so you can create and pay for your order on your phone.Once we placed our order our food and drinks started arriving right away. The employees checked on us a few times and cleared plates. The beers were great. We enjoyed all of our flight selections. The burger was delicious and came with a large green salad. The chips, guacamole, salsa, and queso were really good! The kid's meal was very impressive. It had a little burger, a sliced apple, milk, and cute Scooby doo crackers. The food far exceeded my expectations of food at a beer spot. I'd go for the food as much as the beer.I'd recommend Ballast Point if you're in the area or looking for a good beer and food spot.
