I stopped in to check out how the transition from WSLCB store to private business is going, and ended up emptying my cart and walking right back out. 40-50% price increases across the board, where most other recently-transitioned stores are bumping prices about 20% to cover the taxes. For example, several simple liqueurs went from about $18 to $27 on average, and my fav Hendrick's gin went from $38 to over $56. Many items from standard inventory missing. Theres no reason to shop here when places like Kirkland-124th and Crown Hill are far FAR less expensive. I'll be back when they come to their senses, or for the liquidation sale when they go out of business.

This liquor store isn't huge and therefore doesn't have a massive selection but what they have is well chosen. Prices are on par with most other stores (prices shown WITH TAX) as long as your not comparing the flash sales that the big grocery's offer. Not bad tacos in the back either...seriously!

Cashier woman followed me around on 6/9/24 at about 1:30 pm while I was shopping. It was rude to say the least, then when I mentioned it she acted as though it didn't happen. Normally the staff are sooo friendly. It caught me off guard! I've been coming here for years, please be nicer!

My husband and I walked inside while waiting for our tacos from the taco truck outside. He picked out some beer and went to pay and I walked outside to get our tacos that were ready. The cashier wouldn't sell my husband the beer because I walked outside and she insisted on seeing my ID too. The stupidest part about this is we are both 35 and I'm visibly pregnant. Those beers were clearly not for me...TF? How petty.

Awesome local liquor store in Ballard with a great selection of spirits at very good prices! Super friendly owner who is also very knowledgeable about both bourbon and whiskey -- and his selection reflects this. You can't go wrong shopping here for all your alcohol needs :)

Staff is super friendly. They're fast, funny, and helpful. Each time I've visited they've been social distancing stars. Everyone has a mask, no one gets too close, customers follow the lead of the staff. I was a regular for 8 years at the 7-11 near the Locks, but after a nasty run-in with the owner, I've been searching for a new convenience store. I feel *safe* at Ballard Liquor Store! Keep up the good work!

Really nice selection of locally made liquors and the staff is very friendly. My boyfriend and I went to Ballard Liquor looking for a particular bourbon that we both really enjoy and couldn't find elsewhere after the "transition." We were excited to find that they had it. Also, we were talking to one of the staff (maybe the owner, but I am not certain) about certain types of brandies I like to use for baking. The little mini bottles are especially nice since most recipes at most call for a tablespoon. He said he would look into purchasing some for the store and the next time I came I was pleasantly pleased to find that they had pear and apple brandy, just as we requested.

I stopped in a couple of times in June of '12, right after the switchover from State store to a private business and I was horrified at the lack of profesionalism, organization, terrible selection high prices (the product was on the shelves without prices). I heard alot of excuses about the chaos, but I walked away disgusted and had since found far better prices at Fred Meyer and Trader Joes...until a few weeks ago I was walking by and decided to pop in again. A complete turnaround. Clean friendly and an excellent selection that surpassed the old State store at the same location. I even saw that they had some of my favorite staff from the old state store. Bravo!
