Zack's Big Tree Nursery

This place is my new favorite nursery. Everyone is friendly and they go out of their way to be helpful. They are also very knowledgeable. Definitely worth driving there.

So this is a two part review because I had a two part experience with Zack's. I recently had a miscarriage and we wanted to memorialize the loss of our baby with a Jacaranda tree. After my surgery my husband surprised me with our tree, which he had purchased from Zacks. It's a newer place in town and he knows I'm big on shopping local. He told me he had called different places and this was the only one that offered delivery for that day and it was very important to him he had the tree for right after my surgery. He explained the situation to an employee there, Heather. Upon delivery she included a gift of succulents for me since my husband had told her how much I love plants, specifically succulents. It was such a kind gesture and meant so much to me when I came home. Thank you for your thoughtfulness during such a rough time A few weeks later I went back to Zacks with my husband because I wanted to see everything in person. They had a great selection of plants both inside and out. There were a lot more outdoor plants and trees than houseplants. However, the indoor plant section was still nice sized. There were racks of succulents everywhere! I was able to meet Heather in person and thank her for my gift. She then told me about the succulent parties you can book in their building for after hoursI included photos of their cute little succulent party area in this review and she gave me a few basic details. The price is $25 - 30 per person with a minimum of 5 people. This price includes any pot for $12 or under and 5 succulents - 3 small + 2 big. You can also choose between a bottle of wine or something else to drink. You can bring snacks if you want and just hang out and plant together! Sounds like so much fun! Call for more details and specifics. Show this new local plant shop some much deserved love!

All the girls who work here were so sweet and so great! They enjoyed sharing about plants and pots. The manager even allowed my son to help unpack this box of ceramic pots that had arrived. They have a great sense of humor. There's a large selection of phalaneopsis orchids inside the nursery, and plenty of other plants to choose from inside and outside. Their selection of pots is also neat (photos of pots posted). I definitely recommend this place. I really enjoyed the fact that I didn't have to wear a mask to come and go, and the staff were not either. It was a comfortable place to be able to look around without being talked into sales. The prices were fair.

Beyond satisfied with my trees and garden! The staff knew what they were talking about, and they helped me choose the exact ones that fit my imagination! The price was just right compared to other nurseries!

Advertised sale Friday July 23 and Saturday July 24, 2021 8am to 5 pm! Drove from SW Bakersfield not the easiest to find no street sign for business not your typical nursery garden shop! Worst part was Business not open as advertised in Californian ad! Must have sold out early!

Went to shop for plants and before checking out overheard the two white ladies in the front laughing at us for not looking like we could afford to buy anything. Maybe learn to whisper if you are going to talk bad about customers. Very unprofessional and will never go back again. Would put 0 stars if I could.
