I've lived around Windermere Park for 6 years now and it's always been a casual place for whenever I want to leave the house, hang out with friends, go on a run, or just roll in the grass. It's also a Poké stop for those who play Pokémon Go.The park is a quiet, basic but pleasant, small neighborhood park. Runners, bikers, pet owners, families, and friend groups can be frequently seen enjoying themselves all year long. Squirrels, birds, cats, and other small animals spend their time at the park as well. The park is usually not crowded, but once in a while there will be a huge party with bounce houses and loud music or a soccer practice going on. To host a party, there are rules on the Bakersfield city website regarding park reservations, but since Windemere Park is generally a quiet and unoccupied park, I don't think there is a need to make a reservation. Just pray that no one else will host a party at the same time (it's quite rare that someone will host a party at the same time, but it happens). And also clean up after yourselves. Features at Windermere Park include a smaller playground kids up to 5 years old (according to the sign at the playground), a larger playground for kids up to 12 years old (also according to the sign at the playground), a basketball court, a group picnic area, a swingset, and a good-sized field. Other than the field, there's a lot of shade from trees to provide protection from the Bakersfield sun. The park also has several barbeque grills, a pet waste bag station, water fountains, and restrooms. Sometimes the restrooms, grills, and water fountains are grimy, but servicemen come by to clean up the park every once in a while. However, there is graffiti inside the walls of the tunnel slide and it is not cleaned often. At night, there aren't many lights to brighten the area and with the park hours as 5am to 10pm (according to the Bakersfield city website), the park is unwelcoming and dark.Overall, Windemere Park is a quiet and nice neighborhood park for any recreational use for anyone.

Possibly a hidden gem! I've lived by this park for a year now and it is always very quiet and orderly. They have maintenance workers there almost every day cleaning. They also just refinished the playground which my son loves! This park is tucked away in the middle of a neighborhood which keeps it from being overly populated. It also has a nice space you can rent out for events or parties.
