My husband & I visited his mom for the first time today, being from out of state. We were there from early morning until a little after lunch. The following are things I noticed:All staff members seemed to have professional attitudes and work ethics, keeping busy either with the residents or in the facility. I saw no less than 4 persons cleaning: 2 washing the walls, one a toilet and one cleaning & disinfecting wheelchairs. I didn't see any lolly gagging or idle chit chat among themselves. The facility was not only clean but, they take time there to make it feel homey, not only with the bedding that covers the beds but pictures and, with Easter around the corner, they had decorations for that on each residents' doors & on bulletin boards in different places. Each resident has their own space in a closet, their own nightstand and dresser. They can have their own decor, bedding, etc. in their room. My MIL has a lift chair other relatives bought for her in her room. There's a very nicely kept patio for the residents to enjoy complete with patio tables & chairs & healthy looking plants & flowers-cheerful.Lunch smelled wonderful! And, it was a healthy, balanced meal. All in all, I highly recommend Westchester Gardens as a facility for your elderly loved one who needs care you can no longer give. They give the residents their meds on time, are open to questions & have a caring, professional, well trained staff.

This place is decrepit and disgusting. My grandmother just moved in a couple of weeks ago. I went to see her on Easter for the 1st time. She is 93. Her hair was all matted and hadn't been brushed in at least a couple of days. They already moved her into another room and managed to "lose" a portrait of my great-grandmother that my grandmother had on her dresser and all they came up with is the excuse of 'well, these people all have dementia and they take each other's things". They didn't know the last time my grandmother had a shower. The carpet is thin and looks like the kind people used to put on patios-it's ugly and dirty. The sink and toilet were stained. This place seemed more like a nursing home. There were people sitting in the dining room and hallways who were just staring into space with their heads down or flopped to one side. It's just ugly and disgusting there and it's unfortunate that that's all you can afford on a limited income. They should be ashamed to even operate under those conditions. HORRIBLE.

I wouldn't let my elder family members stay at this due to the lack of support shown within the staff. Horrible place, im actually surprised this place is still up and running. I would have authorites come in and take a deep look at this place and the employees. Horrrible location.

I would not provide this facility with any stars due to their lack of quality in care. During the short time we allowed our loved one to stay within the facility, his medical needs were not properly met by staff, his roommate demonstrated characteristics of neglect, and our loved one's room was filthy (e.g. dirty floors, smelly, poor quality furnishings, etc.). The staff was also rude (with only a few minor exceptions) along with the owner of the establishment. Our experience at Westchester Gardens made a difficult time worse and resulted in additional arrangements having to be made to remove him from the facility as soon as possible. I hope that this review will prevent others from enduring the stress and horrible experiences that we endured.*This rating (one star) was provided only to meet the minimum requirements for posting a review. If Yelp did not require one star, then providing no stars would have been the preferred option.

Awesome! There are numerous words that could be used to describe the care and attention my in laws have received over the decade that they have resided here. They are currently in a state of transition, as their needs have increased, and each and every staff member has taken extra care to communicate with us and ensure the best care. We have worked with staff in the nursing facility, hair salon, administration and facilities and EVERYONE has done everything they can! I only hope I can receive this kind of love and attention when I am their age. My hats off to Westchester Gardens Assisted living.
