Once upon a time, Barker Park has a beautifully maintained Rose Garden. Being that Wasco was the unofficial Rose Capital, it made sense to have this garden. Over time, roses became less and less. Jackson & Perkins sold out and the roses gave way to more profitable crops such as almonds and pistachios. The Rose Garden eventually was replaced with turf and all evidence of this historic garden gone.
