Best secret ever! We found this place because I was looking for a bathroom stop near the Grapevine. When we arrived, we were the only ones there. My kids had a blast and we learned so much and found so much learning material that I was able to use this visit as a homeschool lesson. The exhibits are all fun, interactive and very informative about how water is used in the LA area and the state of California. I even learned something new. I am very impressed with the cleanliness and accessibility of the visitors center. My children loved all of the games and activities and my oldest even got the high score on the water conservation game. I played 3 times and was still 600 points below his score! If you want a fun, interactive, and unexpected lesson about CA water resources, and a clean bathroom, come on in!

A water museum! With clean bathrooms! And views! It is completely free with its own exit off I-5. A winner all around. An excellent place to stretch your legs before descending into the big city.

This is a cool and very educational visitor's center with several exhibits about the California water system. We had no idea and had stopped mainly to look at the lake...45 mins later, we left with a lot of knowledge. Also, clean and well-maintained facility.

Calling all Engineers! Learn about Big Dams and Big Pumps"We sometimes stop here after going over the Grapevine. The people here are super friendly and informative. There is a video overview of the state water infrastructure, as well as numerous exhibits. I found it fun to check out where the water comes from and where it goes. Of course, this might be because I'm an engineer, and we are easily entertained. Non-engineers might not appreciate it as much.If you enjoy water and water infrastructure, this is a great place to visit. If you're not interested in water infrastructure, you will probably find it boring. But it's still free. If you're a good customer, you might get a free water conservation hat. It's sort of like those old hats that "Engineer Bill" used to wear. (If you don't know who Engineer Bill is, ask your parents.)PS. My wife waited in the car this time. (She's not an engineer.)

Great facility. I said it 30 years ago and I'll say it again. The best "rest area" that I ever have found in all of my travels. Air conditioned, quiet and filled with detailed exhibits on a little taught subject in our classrooms: that is, the greatest engineering marvel of our time which is the shifting of water from the mountains to the 4 corners of California.

We made a bathroom stop here and were so glad we did! What a fun little museum - and for free! Our kids enjoyed the water cycle game, and it was a great place to stretch our legs and learn more about water and California.

So happy we stopped here! Traveling 6 hours with a small toddler, this was our perfect break. Fun, interactive displays, some with great sounds, and lots of room to roam. The scenes from the balcony are stunning. Very well done, I'm a fan!!
