As an artist and past participant, I always enjoy walking through and seeing the work. It's a great atmosphere for creatives and families to enjoy live music and art.

Once a year Via Arte' brings novice as well as professional artists together for an entire weekend to paint art on pavement at The Market Place. The artwork is amazing. These people have a passion and t shows in their work. I spent a day photographing artists and their chalk work on pavement and really enjoyed capturing something that someone else loves as much as I love taking photos. This event allowed me to capture some talented artists as well as listen to jazz music, meet other people and enjoy a relaxing day. As a side note: Via Arte' is only once a year, so if you missed it this year check out their website. If you are an artist interested in participating next year, it's free to register.

I look forward to Via Arte every year! I hope Bakersfield Museum of Art continues this festival for my lifetime! Even if I'm out of town during the weekend I make it a point to head home early Sunday, and head out to the Marketplace in the afternoon/evening to catch the chalk art. So much amazing talent! I am blown away by how these artists are able to blend the chalk to make flawless art as well as how they scale their design off of the template. I love picking my favorite pieces! You can even vote for the crowd favorite. They have live music and raffles going on too. Make a day of it and head to Tahoe Joe's for their all day Sunday happy hour!

We took the kiddos today and it was really nice to see this event. My kids got to do a little bit of chalking. My husband is an artist so he really got a kick out of it. They also had live music and belly dancing. This is the first year I've attended and I regret not coming sooner. Great family fun activity and you see artists at every level. Parking lot was packed though.
