TIS General Store

TIS General Store is just that store that covers everything from small home repair to basic grocery items. Think of it as a gas station, convenience, and hardware store all rolled into one.In this particular case given how small the town of Trona is, it is an essential business as the nearest city is about 25 miles away to the West and nothing for a 100 miles north. As noted it has little of everything. In this case it was gas and a cold beverage. Gas prices were shockingly good given that there are only two open in this town and on par with what we pay in the Bay Area. Service was friendly and its conveintly located right on the road for easy on and off.

Nice store with great staff!! Super helpful! This store is very clean and well kept. They have hot chicken and Great coffee. Great place to stop in Trona!

Just had some Chester's chicken here what a amazing place. They are expanding every time we come by. Got to stop by and have some chicken

I drove through Death Valley to get home to Berkeley because I couldn't get across Donner Pass!Stopped at this general store for a cup of coffee and couldbn't pass up getting a chicken bisquit to go with it. This is an amazing place! Clean, spacious, with just about anything you need. The folks working here were all friendly and helpful and they all appeared healthy and happy. I was so impressed that I Googled Trona when I got home to read the history.The four star hotel and spa was an added bonus. (Just kidding, but there is a highway rest stop where you can eat your lunch.)This must be tourist season (late December) because I saw a lot of travelers including families with children. If you are traveling through Death Valley I recommend planning a stop here even if you don't really need anything.
