Visited them outside the Westlane Brewing co. The cashier was pleasant. The poke was so underwhelming. Flavorless. I was only able to choose the topping sauces, and all the bowl tasted like was bad mayonnaise. I'm so disappointed.

Before all the Poke restaurants opened in town, Poke Express ranked as the Best Poke in Bakersfield!! Had tried poke in many of the sushi places and acai bowl shops in town, but none could beat Poke Express. Yes compared to places outside of Bako, they are pricier. The sushi places in Bakersfield are more expensive than this awesome food stand though. Also, you can save $1 by checking in on Yelp.I like the fact that their fresh ahi tuna is not over marinaded. Many places in town put too much soy sauce and other marinade in their poke that it overwhelms the flavor. They have a nice selection of fixings and toppings with which to customize your bowls. Service is terrific.Poke Express does not have a brick and mortar location. We find them on Sundays at the Haggin Oaks Farmers Market. Before the Poke restaurants opened up, Poke Express was the place for us to go. They are still 5 stars in my book.

Two words -BULGOGI FRIES. You're welcome. Haha. We also got a poke bowl with tuna and salmon and a spam musubi. I wish their serving size was a little bigger, but for $10ish a bowl I suppose it was priced right. I would be willing to pay an extra $2-3 for good quality and quantity food.

I am in love and I can't wait to try more items! This weekend I was able to try the shrimp tempura, kimchi, and spring rolls. Each item was cooked to perfection and garnished with green onions and creamy siracha Mayo. The customer service was top notch and the owners genuinely made me feel like family. I can't wait to try the poke and other menu items.

Wow! We had their bulgogi fries with a perfectly cooked fried egg on top. The fries were hot and crispy and the flavors melded together deliciously. Highly recommend!

Farmer's market is coming up in the world! There was a time when farmer's market was all about the fresh veggies, fresh fruits and the fresh squeezed juices, but over time the Farmer's market has become a place for new businesses to introduce their products and if it'll become a hit. The Poke Express has instantly become a hit for me and I kid you not, they have got me craving their yummy poke.Bakersfield doesn't really have any poke places, so poke is new and different for a lot of Bakersfield people and unfortunately a lot of people find themselves asking if they should eat raw fish or not. You either will love it or you're not gonna try it, because once you try it then I believe you can get past the raw fish phobia and love it. It's really addicting and can be pricey if you eat here all the time, but trust me, it's worth it.The poke here is tasty and you have more options for toppings, unfortunately the bowls are smaller than the other guys, so that's the downside. They have quality ingredients here and you can tell everything is fresh.

I was super bummed that during the month of July The Poké Express would not be on hand at the Farmer's Market downtown but then I realized they are not far from home on a Sunday. Every Sunday they are at the Haggins Oak Farmer's Market off Ming Avenue in the Kaiser Permanente parking lot along with several other amazing vendors. After a few weekends passing by I was finally able to make it out here and it was pretty damn amazing. I arrived around noon and with no surprise they were sold out of some items which I was okay with. Instead of steamed rice I got brown rice, it is pretty much a build your own poké bowl starting with the base of rice. You then pick sides which go on top, they were out of Seaweed Salad which would have been delish but I was still able to get crab meat, edamame, cucumber, red onion and tofu. After that you choose a sauce, the poke is already marinate in the sesame shoyu but if needed you can add more, I did a mix of wasabi aioli and siracha aioli. Lastly you choose toppings, I took it all! I added furikake, green onions, crispy garlic and pickled ginger which added such amazing depth of flavor.Upon walking up to their stand I glanced over the area, I always do this with food stands or food trucks, if give me a sense of how clean they are. I look for food dropping, smudges, open containers and ladles left airing out. Here at The Poké Express, you see such a spic and span stand, the freezer is in pristine condition as well as the surrounding environment. I learn this observation from my wife who is a clean fanatic which in my case is a god send. All of the ingredients were extremely fresh, nothing more than a day old. The Poké itself was perfect in texture, flavor and visibility. Each vegetable has a fresh crisp to each bite and their pickled ginger made me a fan, I am not a fan of ginger as it is.The Poké Express is well established and can sell it rather quickly, as I saw for myself today I just made it because I was the last customer to get a full bowl. The prices are good as well, $10 for the regular bowl and $13 for the large which you definitely get a great amount of food in both. Another great attribute they have is their great customer service, both ladies were friendly and ensure my order was well document before putting together. They were sure to build a customer relationship and even remembered me from messaging them on Instagram, they knew me by my first name which stands out a lot.If you are lover of Poké, you better not miss out on the opportunity for The Poké Express; if you haven't tried Poké, you can build your bowl to your taste buds which is not common amongst a lot of food places.

Omg this was so delicious!!!! We got there shortly before they closed and ordered our food, poke burrito, poke bowl, & chicken egg rolls. The ladies working were super friendly and answered an questions we had. They gave us a pager so we could go inside WLB and order our beers. It took about 10 minutes for our food to be ready and it was so fresh and yummy!!!! I don't like seaweed in fact it makes me usually turn my nose up but the seaweed used to wrap the burrito was very mild and didn't have the normal seaweed flavor. The poke bowl was huge and the egg rolls were two normal sized egg rolls cut in half served with sweet chili sauce, yum! They had a lot of different sauces you could get on your food as well. Wasabi mayo, spicy mayo, eel sauce, sweet chili sauce, and a few others I can't remember.

Loved it loved it loved it. The tuna was fresh and delicious. The sriracha aioli sauce was amazing! I had the small order and it was very satisfying. The owners were very polite and offered great suggestions. My only complaint is that they don't have a brick and mortar restaurant or a food truck. It's a pop up at the Farmer's Market on Ming Avenue on Sundays. Poke Express if you're reading this, please invest in a food truck and open more often.
