BedBugs!!! Cleanliness is a must! Went up for a football weekend in lake Isabella and our room was dirty upon arrival. The floors were sticky and not wiped down on night stand. Out of 4 other family's staying in same hotel similar issues. Room 115 was our room went to bed and woke up with bed bugs.. Iivid and freaking out the hotel manager was missing in action til 5 am so we talked showed him pictures he got me bags for everything in my room. Got additional bags for suitcases and bigger stuff from store up the road. Owner made it right with full refund but still disgusting and not up to health and cleanliness standards. I rated 1 because you had to. Overall would have been okay if this hadn't happened to my kids and I.

My stay at The Kern Lodge in Kernville has been very disappointing, to the point where I wished I had just driven home. Here are the issues I encountered:Dirty Floors: The floors were noticeably dirty when we arrived.Flies in the Room: There were flies in the room, which was quite off-putting.Uncomfortable Furniture: The futon and beds were lumpy and uncomfortable, making it hard to sleep.Broken Blinds: One side of the blinds was stuck open, while the other side was stuck down, providing little privacy and uneven lighting.TV Issues: The TV was stuck on a low volume setting, making it difficult to watch anything.AC Concerns: We were threatened with additional costs if we set the AC too low, and the AC controller was taken away.Shower Problems: There was a hole in the shower, which is unacceptable.Slow Service: When we needed assistance with the WiFi password, it took 10 minutes to get someone to answer the front desk.Overall, there were so many issues that it made our stay uncomfortable and unsatisfactory, and I regret not just driving home instead.

This place truly cares about people. Made reservations on line before I showed up late, after driving for 7 hours and they could not find my reservation. A mother and son helped me and were the nicest people I have encountered in a long time. They walked me to my room and made sure it was all set up and ready. I asked how I could repay them and they just asked to leave a tip for their housekeeper. If coming through this area it is truly the place i would stay. You just don't meet caring people like them often.

I've been coming to the lake my entire life, car camping the dispersed areas. I brought my wife for the first time and decided to get a suite here at the Kern Lodge. We were not disappointed. The room was clean, and we even had a private yard, which came in handy since we brought our dog, Tinkerbell.The staff was friendly, and it is conveniently located in town, just a walk from Riverside Park and a couple of bars open late as well. We will be back with family and friends.

BOOK AT YOUR OWN RISK!I don't typically slam a business without attempting to sort it out directly with the business first. Hear me out. On March 12, 2023, I booked a room directly with The Kern Lodge for 2 nights in June 2023 because my husband and I were going rafting on the Lower Kern. On April 12th, I received an email from the rafting company stating they had to cancel our trip because of dangerously high water levels. I immediately contacted The Kern Lodge by email and canceled my June 6/7 reservation and provided an explanation for the cancellation.After not hearing anything from The Kern Lodge, I sent another email on 4/14 requesting they confirm receipt of my cancellation request. Crickets.In the following week, I made multiple calls to two phone numbers listed for the hotel. Neither was in service. I wrote a letter to the hotel requesting that my deposit of $94.20 be refunded, and that they NOT charge me for the remaining booking amount. Crickets.I submitted a claim with my credit card company and they reimbursed the deposit amount on 4/26.I continued to track my account and observed that The Kern Lodge charged my credit card the remaining amount of $222.60 on June 7, 2023, even though I cancelled (or attempted to cancel) my reservation on April 12.I had to send all my documentation to my credit card company (emails, letter, call logs) and got the remaining $222.60 refunded.LONG STORY short. A LOT of the reviews in the last year indicate that The Kern Lodge gas really gone downhill, and that no one is minding the store. No one at the front desk, no way to reach the hotel, and paid guests are left stranded. There does not appear to be any accountability. If you own this business, you need to get involved and get a new staff. AND KEEP TRACK OF YOUR CREDIT CARD CHARGES!!

I have tried over 5 times calling and emailing to cancel a reservation at this hotel and there is no phone number that works and no answers to any emails. Claiming fraud charges on my credit card. Total sham.

I won't even get this place one star but I have to cuz it asks me to give one I would give it -20 Stars if I had a choice I don't know what happened to the original manager who I've dealt with on multiple occasions Michelle and her son whose name I believe was Michael very warm kind courteous people always greeted you with a smile always willing to help you always attention to people the new managers seems like he's on drugs or an outer space he's got the swimming pool dug up I don't know how he's going to have it finished for summer time he's got bed bugs in the rooms the owners of this place need to pull their head out of the rear end and do something about the employees they have working there they all look like they're on drugs but what do I know all I know is that it's not the same nice warm welcoming hometown place it once was when it was ran by the other managers and I recently found out this owner of the lodge is also the owner of the cut adorable hardware store Archie's in kernville which is not stocked it's just rammed down this place is going to hell in a handbasket real fastI wish there was some way that the people of this town could pull together and do something about the havoc that's being done in this beautiful homemade tourist town in kernville it's just a shame I would definitely not recommend staying at this dive to anyone that I know any longer.

Booked my reservation and the next day tried to call and cancel due to change of plans. Phone number on their website was out of service so I emailed to cancel with no reply from them. They charged me my deposit so I continued to email once a week for 4 weeks straight to cancel my reservation (reservation was made 2 months in advance) still Nothing from them. I hoped even though they weren't replying to my emails and I couldn't get a hold of them by phone that they had still cancelled my reservation as I had asked of them in multiple emails. NOPE today I was charged for the room I did not check into last week and had cancelled over 6 weeks ago (there website did say cancellations were allowed within 7 days of stay.) I highly recommend NOT booking this hotel.
