What a great dive bar during Whiskey Flat Days! Everytime we come to Kernville we hit The Hut.

5 star dive bar. Pool table , juke box , cheap drinks and shuffleboard. Steve the bartender has a deadpan sense of humor. I told him , "this is the kind of place where you wanna take your shirt off" He replied " this is not that kinda place" I replied what if the girls wanna go topless. He replied " it is that kinda place. Gotta love him! Cheers!

Came here last night and no social distance, local town lady bar flies were drunk and annoying, talking about how crappy the town was. It made me not want to return to kernville or the hut. Bartender guy was not friendly at all and it reeked of cigarette smoke inside. If you're camping at the camp sites it's better off you stay there the locals are not welcoming to visitors. Also THE HUT DESPERATELY NEEDS A BAR RESCUE!

Only been here once and I can tell you that it is a great dive bar. When we got into the palce the bouncer checked our ID's and let us know that if anyone gives us any trouble to let him know. I thought that was pretty cool and what a real dive bar should be like. The Bartender was very friendly and talkative. Their selection of beer is limited but they do have a decent selection of hard liquor and will make any drinks you request as long as they have the stuff to do it. The night we went there was a local band playing and it was pretty good. If I am ever back in the area again I will make sure to go back!

Booze and destruction. Those were the two things I had in mind before going out on the town. And The Hut definitely helped me achieve those two things. Walking into the place I was hit with a sonic blast from the house band (I believe they were called Jest Reason), which apparently consisted of Gallagher (the comedian) on vocals. He was gooood. He sang a number of songs to a tee, without letting up. He nailed it basically. Especially when he started playing Chuck Berry and we all decided to destroy the dancefloor. The walls were adorned with dollar bills signed by various patrons. And I'm not talking about a few bills...I'm talking wall to ceiling to other wall to other wall. It was a pretty dingy place, but that's pretty much what you expect in a place like Kernville. Not as many slack jawed yokels as I thought. Actually, there really wasn't anybody except for us and a couple or two. I can't remember how much the drinks were because my buddy was buyin' rounds but he did make my Gin n' Tonic pretty strong.Eventually, we got restless and wanted more of a crowd. So, we took a picture with the band, bid adieu to Gallagher and stumbled all the way to Kern River Saloon. Needless to say, The Hut was a footnote in my night, but I definitely will be re-visiting when I come back.

When it's 100 degrees outside, an ice cold beer in a frosty mug never tasted so good. Sure, they only have two brands to choose from on tap, but I can tell you they're both cold, and less than $4. It's enough for me.The Hut is a true dive bar, complete with patrons who unabashedly smoke inside. Can you really call yourself a dive bar if you don't have that stale smoke smell? We stopped in late afternoon, but I have a feeling it's a good scene at night. There's a dance floor and a stage, a pool table and juke box.Check out the wall decorations -- at least a thousand dollar bills taped to the wall, and even the ceiling, each one decorated and signed by bar goers.Friendly bartenders too.

Locals only type bar. If you're from this town, you probably already know about this bar. If you're a tourist, keep away. Interesting decor with the dollar bills as wall paper. The beer was cold so that's one star. I didn't get stabbed so that's another.

The Hut has proper pours, poured right in front of you, and the prices are cheaper than the other bars in town. Best of all, no attitude and friendly staff. The Kernville Saloon is good as well. Avoid the Sportsman.

Go say hi to Steve & have a solid cocktail for a great price at this RAD dive bar. Fill the satellite juke box with your tunes while you play shuffle board. Don't forget to add a $1 bill with your love note on it to the walls & ceiling. Cheers!! And if the beautiful brunette is working, tip her fat! PS, GOOD dive bar food!

NEVER GO HERE!I have never been attacked like this in a bar. This is like a dive bar with a dance floor. I was on the dance floor when some guy attacked me and punched me in the head several times. The attacker stayed in the bar and looked at me as I was sitting on the side of the dance floor. Why was he not kicked out? I guess fighting is OK in this bar.Later I decided to go back on the dance floor. Soon after that some big guy got me in a head lock and said that I better leave. While I was in the head lock, the guy that attacked me the first time, came over and punched me again several times. I was defenseless in a headlock from another guy. I was kicked out of the bar and exited out the back door.I was a little scared the guy that attacked me twice in the bar would attack me outside. Maybe I should have called the cops. At the time I was not sure it was this dive bar's fault, but now I think it clearly is. I may be calling the police still because this fighting should not be allowed in any bar.STAY AWAY!
