While I've ate here, I don't recommend the California Burrito unless your idea of one is a handful of fries, 1/2 cup sour cream, and a drizzle of spicy guacamole. Trust their menu only if you actually eat there.

The owners are darling people.they made sure that we felt welcome and cared for. It was hotter than hades the day we went in and their air was out. It was getting fixed when we were there. The food was good. My hubs got a burrito. My kid got a burger. Other kid got a burrito. I got a salad. Everything was made on demand. Salad was basic but delicious. Burritos and burgers looked legit. Will come back when we are in the area.

The breakfast burritos are and their salsa is great. I haven't had anything else from there, so can't speak to other dishes they serve.

When you are in the middle of CA... you are limited on food options. I saw that the drive thru had 4 cars and that was enough for me to stop here for lunch. No menu outside but the girl handed me one. It was an extensive menu ranging from breakfast to lunch. The prices are a lot for a small town. 4 bacon double cheese burger meals, 1 pastrami sandwich and 1 carne asada taco ran me $82. Took a while to get the food but it was made fresh. The food was mediocre. Burger meat tasted like frozen costco patties. Not much flavor, and dry. I can't speak about the pastrami, but my friend didn't bother finishing it. The carne asada meat however, was good. It was well seasoned.The workers are nice and they did check in on us during the visit. Decent food overall.

No menu outside for a drive-thru-only restaurant is crazy. 3.8 stars, overall. Is the menu and pricing a secret? Service was very nice but he forgot the ranch he offered to me. I came for a chorizo breakfast burrito, and this place had the audacity to say it doesn't come with potatoes or cheese inside. Those things cost extra. Never in my life have I heard of a place getting away with making plain-a** breakfast burritos and getting good reviews. Nickel-and-diming customers for the usual ingredients is so weird. Obviously this place is for repeat locals only-- lol, it seriously felt like they think business is so good, they don't need to even try. I don't like that aspect of businesses in Ridgecrest. Some of them look like they do not care. I ended up getting a cheeseburger combo because it came with cheese and potatoes and all that, unlike the breakfast burrito. Burger tasted good, homemade, but kinda dry, like, no sauce. Fries were good, too. Be careful driving into their lot-- the poor state of the asphalt is treacherous.

So, this Golden Ox place in Ridgecrest, you never know if it's open or not, ever since COVID. Best to just call ahead and order for pickup. They have a drive-thru window, so you don't even have to get out of your car. We got a bunch of burgers, Cali burritos, onion rings, fries, and a chicken quesadilla. The burgers were great, and the burritos were big and tasty. The fries and onion rings were just okay. But the quesadilla had canned chicken in it! I thought it would be grilled chicken, not canned or slow-cooked chicken. It tasted like it came straight from a can! But the burgers were really good, and the horchata water was delicious.

The food and service are the best. Well worth going back for more. Ambiance is ok . The family atmosphere is really down home .

This is a great little Mex-American food place...I love love their burgers but when I want a great burrito this is the place I go also...their Jamica (I know I spelled that wrong) is the best in town..they make everything fresh to order so if you don't call it ahead you'll have a little wait...but it's totally worth it...oh and their fries are da' bomb
