From what I could tell, the food seemed super authenticNoticed this spot off the highway on our way to Davis and couldn't pass it up.We got our food pretty quickly and it was all very delicious: probably some of the best tandoori chicken I've had and the tandoori fish was amazing as well. But the garlic naan was something else (super fluffy and tasty)The place had lots of places to sit, but it seemed like their was only one waiter pacing around to take every order.Would love to come back but it's pretty far from where I live

Stopped for dinner yesterday and was extremely disappointed with the taste and quality of the food. Tried Goat Curry, Tandoori Chicken and Tandoori Roti and every item was a disaster. It was so bad that we were still hungry when we left to continue on our long drive.Certainly not going back again.

Today it was my second visit to this restaurant. The service was excellent as they were very fast and as I was with my 4 year old they calmly listened to my instructions for my kids food. The ambience was nice and quiet as there were very little crowd, as this restaurant is located on i5 at Buttonwillow, CA. On my first visit my experience on my food was not that excellent as I ordered biryani and they were biy oily and very spicy with tons of spices in it. As me being an Indian can tell this was not actually a biryani. Today I came here again and ordered chicken tikka masala and it was truly delicious. The flavor was mild and really enjoyed and my 4 year old also liked it. Roti with chicken tikka masala goes well with each other and the onion salad was not in the menu we requested to serve us as without onion salad it will look and taste incomplete. The restaurant was very clean even the restroom was nice and clean. They also have a small counter near the billing area where you can find many essential things like a blanket, toothpaste soap some India munchies etc. The restaurant was very spacious from inside more than 60 people can dine together. They also have free WiFi and few parking spaces.

TLDR:Surprisingly good Indian cuisine immediately adjacent to the I-5 right at the intersection to Highway Ca-58 West. It's a great antidote to the usual burger joints and fast food while on the road out here, and definitely worth a stop for us!Service is relatively fast for a sit down restaurant. They get it that most of their customers are travelers looking to get back on the road. Here you'll find friendly folks, in a down home casual roadside ambiance and even a bit of Indian grocery store inside too! This place is legit! We ordered the following to go, asked for mild spicy and loved them all in the comfort of our own home.Biryani Chicken Rice 10/10! Absolutely nailed it! Moist, tender flavorful with a good amount of shredded chicken.Chicken Tikka Masala 8/10 - tons of sauce with some reasonably sized chunks of white meat chicken, Great to take home and reheat later as leftovers!Garlic naan 8.5/10 - a bit too burnt on the bottom side, and tender yet thin but thankfully walks the line between tender insides and crunchy outer layer the way all naans should be.Plain naan 9/10 - a little thicker than the garlic naan and less burnt. Veggie Pakora 8.5/10 - big pieces deep fried. on point pretty much..Yummy accompaniments:Raita - lots of itChutney - on target!Taste of India is a place we look forward to visiting again whenever we make the drive on I-5 or 58! It's a welcome and refreshing break from the usual burgers and fries. Definitely worth a stop!

A perfect stop for lunch!! The food was so delicious and the older gentleman who helped us was delightful! My husband and I ordered the veggie samosas, garlic naan, butter chicken, and bhaigan bharta. All were wonderful. We ended with unsweetened chai. Will definitely stop again if we can!

Stopped here yesterday on a long trip dropping my sister off to college back to LA and I was looking for somewhere to eat. So happy I stopped by here! The food was fresh and delicious. I got the following butter chicken, Chana masala, vegetable samosa, goat curry, lentil soup, garlic naan and rice + coffee. The lentil soup was very watered down compared to traditional Indian places I've ate at so I would recommend NOT buying this. The Chana masala was also watered down but very tasty. The garbanzos were cooked to perfection and soft on taste. The garlic naan was fresh and very buttery! My father got the goat curry and it was also not as thick of a curry very watery but the flavor profile was there. My father loved his dish. I wanted what the table behind me was eating so I grabbed the butter chicken. It was so good. The sauce was thick and very delicious. The service was provided by an older gentleman who was so sweet and very attentive. The ambiance was casual- lots of Indian people inside the restaurant when we went so having them meant they enjoyed it as well!! I will definitely be stopping each time I visit my sister up north to college!

If you have to drive another two 300 miles to find another Indian place please do so. I would say just avoid this one. The naan is terrible. The yellow Dahl was awful. Sadly I cannot say anything good but the smile of the gentleman collecting the money. I'm gonna repeat this. The bathroom was disgraceful...Avoid Avoid Avoid.

As soon as we entered the building, a man sitting way across the dimly lit room at a small counter beckoned us forward with several impatient waves. There were several banquet style tables - the type you rent for a wedding or buy cheaply at Costco - set up in straight, regimented lines, filling the large space like a military chow hall. It was about 1pm and there were no more than half a dozen of the thirty or so tables occupied, apparently by diners of Indian heritage. If not for that observation, I'm not sure we would've had the courage to heed the waving man's urgent request to walk across the large expanse toward the counter. We ordered, payed and then found a table against the wall underneath a bewildering example some kind of...I'm going to say...art? It appeared to be a portrait of a woman in front of a landscape set in India, with various animals and piles of dirt near a river with a bridge - there was a lot going on and I studied it intensely, enjoying a lukewarm Mexican Coke, until the waving guy started shouting what turned out to be our order number several times. I got my hustle on and rushed over to grab the tray which was loaded with what appeared to be a takeout order with a few styrofoam containers of food. No plates. When we asked for some, they were styrofoam as well. When we asked for some cutlery with which to eat the food, it was cheap white plastic. Bottom line: We were on a long drive down the 5 and quite hungry but didn't want to eat at a chain/fast food joint so we decided to have a little culinary adventure- and truthfully the food wasn't that bad - but man, the presentation was Kafkaesque!

Stopped here on the way home from LA, it's right off the freeway and has a big sign on the roof so you wont miss it!We came on a Monday afternoon so we had the whole place to ourselves and it is quite a big restaurant (there is also alot of parking and EV charging closeby). We were greeted right away and given menus. We had vegetable pakoras, the chili chicken, garlic naan, and butter chicken. Pakoras are good but their dips were served in a container that looked like they pass on to each table/not single use so that was a little concerning. The chili chicken was kind of dry but flavorful. The garlic naan and butter chicken were an immaculate pairing. Garlic naan was soft and fresh, delicious and had the perfect amount of garlic. The butter chicken was so creamy and had the perfect amount of spice and flavor. They also had very big and clean bathrooms but heads up, no changing tables for babies.
