Both my boys attended this elementary, with my older son attending in 2008 as a 3rd grader and my younger son just finishing his last year here this past school year, he actually spent all 7yrs of his elementary years here.Love that this school promotes and pushes the kids educationally and makes their learning experience fun. This is one of the only schools that have the G.A.T.E. program from my understanding and they have to bus the other kids from neighboring schools to attend. This school is one of the top elementary schools in Bakersfield, from the kids scoring really well academically to the parents playing a huge role being involved with tons of activities and with teachers participating and pushing the kids to be successful. It's a really clean school and the school strives to stay safe and to keep clean.I have had a lot of ups and downs here, my older son is deaf and most of his years attending Stockdale was always positive, but there were a few teachers who you can tell did not want to spend time with a disabled child or "deal" with it. My son was too advanced to be in a mentally challenged class, but not advanced enough to be in a regular class, so he struggled a lot being in a regular course class. On a positive note, there were many teachers that are amazing people and take the time to create an atmosphere where education was extremely important and there were more teachers like that in this school rather than the bad apples here.I have never had any similar situations with my younger son as he is always academically advanced and that part gives me a lot of mixed feelings. I feel like he had a more fair experience because he wasn't disabled and he did not have to have a whole lot of one on one since he was advanced, but I honestly can't judge that part and say that's why he may have had a better experience because people who have a child with a disability always feel shorted by everyone, so maybe it's just me.Both my kids absolutely loved this school and has had a positive experience here for the most part. Both kids had an opportunity to participate in numerous activities (Band, Chorus, Battle of the Books, Math Field Day, Track and many more). Their most memorable moments had to be their last year when they both went to Camp Keep to experience the outdoors science and education. This gave them an opportunity to gain closer relationships with their peers and to learn a little bit of independence. The school has prevented a lot of traffic problems by utilizing their valet in the front of the school or drop offs at the back of the school, the only thing that still bothers me til this day is when parents drop off their kids at the back of the school, the principal/teachers have had this rule about parents parking in the middle of the road and letting their kids out instead of safely parking and letting their kids out. The principal/teachers have had multiple meetings with parents letting them know this is illegal, yet I honestly feel the principal only allows certain parents to still do that, my suggestion is to make sure your child and everyone elses kids are safe.If you plan to allow your kids to attend Stockdale Elementary, I believe your kids will have one of the best educations in Bakersfield for a public school.

Mrs. Granger is a wonderful teacher. The person who wrote an unkind review is sorely mistaken because she takes such good care of her students, takes the time and effort to understand them in their individuality, and has a kind, loving, nurturing soul.

Both of my boys have attended this school, well my younger still attends. The staff is almost always very welcoming, the first impression was off-putting but has changed quite drastically since then and that was in 2008. I really love how the school intertwines the families with the activities here, especially the school carnival. All of the teachers have booths either selling food/goodies or games in which the kids can win prizes or tickets for bigger prizes. We try to volunteer as much as possible for the activities and field trips and the school embraces parent involvement. As with most schools, Stockdale is moving towards the Learning with Technology movement which to me is such a great way for our children to learn. Technology has grown so much and our lives use technology so much it just opens up their minds with a variety of possibilities. All of the teachers we have encountered is have been awesome, especially with my older son being 90% deaf and needing the help of his teachers. The current principal is very involved with everything and has such a great and loving connection with all of the students. I will say this is one of the best schools around Bakersfield!!

Stockdale is a great school with great teachers. Both of my children have had Mrs Granger and she is an amazing teacher. She communicates well with the children and parents. I have actually requested her to be my children's teacher. She is a strong teacher and encourages the kids and strives to help them do and be the best the can. When my youngest old enough to be in her class, I hope she is still at Stockdale so I can request for her to be his teacher.

Both my kids attend Stockdale Elementary. My kids love it here. The staff is caring and kind. My son had Mrs Granger for 1st and again for fourth. We thought she was a great teacher. We had a little misunderstanding this year, but it was handled very professionally and she took the time to talk to my son one on one, and I appreciated that so much. It meant a lot to us and him. She is soft spoken and maybe a little shy, I think that she can be misconstrued by some, but she is a lovely person who does care about the wellbeing of her students. My son had Mrs Franco for 3rd. He still tells us Franco stories. One example that come to mind, my son told us if the kids didn't understand a subject, she would tell them to come see her over lunch recess, and she would use her lunch time to work with them and help them understand the subject. One of those teachers who goes above and beyond for her students. Awesome lady. My little one started kindergarten this year. She had Mrs Faulk. We really enjoyed her as well. My daughter cracks us up telling us kinder stories. So much fun. We are looking forward to another year at Stockdale Elementary!
