I've found the prescription for beating the Bakersfield summer heat blues - an icy cold Sno Shack sno cone! Yes, they're back - the ubiquitous (at least during the summer months) sky blue A-frame shacks with their red, orange, and yellow stripes. The shape always makes me think of the little houses that the British Palace Guards stand outside wearing those ridiculously tall furry black hats. Only somehow I think it would be much easier to get the workers here to smile. It doesn't get much better than this. I do so love my shaved ice snow cones - though don't be worried, they come in flat bottom styrofoam cups, not those paper cones with pointed bottoms that are so impossible to set down! There are 87 flavors and 9 super flavors that can be combined to please even the pickiest child or adult and they come in three different sizes: small $2.50, medium $3.00, and avalanche $4.00. I just left this location with a 1/2 pineapple daiquiri, 1/2 strawberry margarita and I am in hog heaven - even though the brain freeze is causing actual physical pain as I type with the right eye squeezed shut. FYI - the one-eyed squint does not actually help one cope with the pain, but it at least makes me feel like I am being pro-active.The only negative is that neither of the Sno Shack locations I've been to in Bakersfield had sugar free flavors. I went to their website, snoshack.com, and they do carry a sugar free sugar water made with agave that the franchisees can purchase. How about it Bako Sno Shack peeps, will you step up to the plate and make us at least 3 or 4 sugar free flavors?

Such a bummer! I'm a total sucker for sno cones as they're not only delicious, but healthier? That may have room for judgment, but anyway I love love love shaved ice. That being said, this location is the closest to my house... Although my experience wasn't the best.. the girl who helped me was sweet enough, but the overall sno cone was a total mess. For what I paid I had a terrible syrup to ice ratio.. Literally all sno, no sugar. She didn't pump enough into the cone.. And when she handed me the cup it was full of the flavor syrup all outside the cup. She was a bit messy and it caused a mess for myself. Tigers blood is a force to be reckoned with, especially when it's all over your shirt. :( Next time I will stick with another shaved ice location... There are a few others around town that I can visit.

First time at this place since I seen it so many times. Decided to stop. Walked up and saw the many flavors was on the board. I just could not figure out what flavors I wanted until I saw special flavors which were spongebob, Darth Vader, etc. Decided to get a med Darth Vader, which came out somewhat purple blackish. The girl was great in preparing my snow cone. It came out perfectly and it had enough syrup and did not spill anywhere while I was eating and driving at the same time. First time in a long time to get a snow cone.

This place is usually pretty amazing BUT I am very disappointed this year. I have gone to this location THREE times and they just can't seem to get it together. Either they don't give you enough flavoring or they give you the entire bottle. The last time I went I asked them to take the "cone" off the top so it would sit flat. The girl knocked off the top, took out about half the ice and drenched the remainder in syrup. I still gave them a great tip, considering it SUCKS having to work in this horrible heat.So disappointing, especially since I haven't noticed any other locations up and running yet.

Not a happy camper tonight. Drive ten minutes with the kids, and the had "closed early cause it was cold" she tells me through the window. It's flipping beautiful outside, and 70 degrees!

Very reasonable prices and they give you a lot for the price but the snow cones are way too sweet.

Wish you could rate them no stars! Their prices are way to high now and for the quality of the sno cone you get definitely isn't worth the price!! The Ice is always hard and I've gone to multiple locations! And their syrup pouring is always inconsistent, either to much where it's not good to eat or way to little that it's just ice! Maybe they should give their workers a lesson on how much syrup goes into them! And some of their locations are horrible they should put them where people can actually see them not hide in a fast food area like by chick-fil-a! And the working environment for the workers seem horrible, I asked a girl if it was cool in there and she said not really the AC isn't good and that this shack didn't have a fan they could sit in front of, poor workers! Much rather go to sno biz to get some actual shaved Ice not this crap they sell here at Sno Shack
