Best gun shop in the Central Valley. Bob the owner and the staff are amazing friendly and will always give you the best price. they will walk you through the whole process of buying a gun and help you with everything.

I have talked to several of the experienced guys at Smokin Barrels and have not been disappointed. As a somewhat beginner, they have been honest and realistic about what they sell you. Right tool for right job. Thanks to all here you are my favorite in Visalia.

Nothing has changed here...still 5 stars. Since my last update I've done a few more FFL private seller transfers, in store purchases, and a few online purchases and I thankfully still have had Matt and Bob to handle all the transfer end of the biz every time. The communication has always been great and there has never been a hiccup once. There are some new faces in the shop helping out from time to time and they have all been great.

Where to begin?!This is an excellent, locally owned, gun shop. The owners do a fantastic job to go out of their way making sure their customers get what they need and want. They have a friendly and very well-informed / knowledgeable staff, who are always ready to help answer whatever question you may have. (And if they don't know the answer they'll find it for you!). Anytime I need a part or a new gun, this is the first place I go. They have Smokin' good deals (pun intended), and can't be beaten. If they don't have what I need they can usually order it within a week or so. They are my one-stop-shop. Smokin' Barrel Firearms has my business for life, and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to buy their first gun, new gun, parts, or service! The Smokin Barrel Crew are so knowledgeable about anything and everything regarding guns and ammo. They are always willing to take the time to explain any questions I have in detail. It's a great family run business and I love to shop local & buy local. They have a wide variety of merchandise and I could spend hours talking to these guys.Great people and great business.

A lot of the employees are really nice and helpful but the older man in there, I'm assuming the owner throws around his weight and is quite rude. He was so rude to customers in front of me that it actually made me feel uncomfortable. I probably won't go back because of that!

So, I don't do Yelp ratings often; usually when a place rates a 1 or 2 and I'm ticked off.This is my first 5 star rating ever, for any business on any site.I stopped by today to pick up a transfer. I'm not an avid gun owner and this was my first purchase in a LONG time, so I'm rusty on the requirements, therefore I wasn't in and out quickly. But, I had an opportunity to observe the 5 staff members operate with a variety of clients; this is my take: extremely knowledgeable and professional without being know-it-alls. They really knew their business and didn't feel the need to show off. They handled the weapons just as respectfully as they did the customers. It has been a very long time since I have seen such professionalism in any arena. Mr Gaalswyk runs a tight ship.
