When attempting to receive a refund for not staying here, hotel staff will lie to you.**Summary**1. Before booking here. Call the hotel. If the phone does not work, do not book here. a. They likely turn their phone off on purpose so they cannot be contacted. 2. Hotel staff lied about their ability to provide a refunda. You'll get told either a manager needs to provide permissions or funds are controlled via a 3rd party. 3. Hotel website auto directs bookings to "non-refundable bookings"; this is abnormal compared to industry standard. **Details**Decided to come to town and stay here for 3 nights (Saturday-Monday). Made a booking directly on the hotels website (rosedaleinnbakersfieldca.com;), not a 3rd party website. Received a confirmation email from Travlu (apparently a 3rd party). Two days before the trip, travel plans changed, and I needed to cancel the 1st night. I checked my reservation, and it stated that if i contact the hotel within 24 hours, i can change my reservation. So I called the hotel. The call did not go through, receiving a message stating the call cannot be completed as dialed. Thought I had the wrong # so I did a google search to find another #, still no luck with the phones. Since the hotel was unreachable, and by this time I read the horrible reviews on yelp, I decided to cancel the whole stay. I emailed Travlu, in attempt to have them cancel the booking. No response. Saturday night, I receive an invoice and credit card charge, from the inn, for the full amount of the stay. I was irritated but decided to go to the inn on Sunday to discuss and get a refund, since I had never checked in, and it was not my fault that their phones were down preventing me from cancelling the reservation. On Sunday, went to the inn and discussed with the front desk, a gentleman waerning an apple watch. He stated that they cannot provide a refund because a 3rd party , Travlu, holds the funds. He directed me to call them. So I left, then called Travlu. Travlu stated that they had received me message about changing the reservation 2 days ago, but was unable to contact the hotel via phone, therefore they emailed the hotel but received no response. Travlu stated the booking was through the hotel itself and they do not control the funds. I'm getting conflicting information from the hotel and Travlu. To gather more info I: 1) checked the credit card statement, which indicated that the charge was from Rosedale Inn2) checked the invoice that was emailed to me, which also stated the charge was from Rosedale Inn. This confirmed the charge was from the inn, meaning the hotel staff was not being honest. With this information, I returned back to the inn to discuss with the staff, same gentleman. I told him that I spoke to Travlu, and they could not get a hold of the hotel via phone. Then, I put my phone on speaker, called the hotel # to show the staff that calls are not going through. The staff then went to their phone, pressed some buttons, then called their # to show the phone works. Magically, the phone now works. This indicated that they either are extremely negligent in allowing their phone to not work for 2 days or had the phone not function on purpose (more likely). I communicated to staff, earlier he told me that the credit card charge was thru the 3rd party; I showed him evidence that the inn directly charged me via the invoice that was emailed. Then he stated that he doesn't the ability to provide a refund; I'd have to come back tomorrow when a manager is there. He showed me his computer and how he was unable to provide a refund for my specific reservation. I hadn't yet showed him the credit card charge, so I showed him that which clearly stated Rosedale Inn made the charge, not Travlu. Then magically, he said he could give me a refund for 2 of the 3 nights. I agreed and left; good riddance. **Conclusion**Not only does this hotel use scammy tactics, they take it far enough to even lie to you. I was lucky, and learned my lesson with only $80 lost. Avoid this hotel. The staff clearly utilizes a run-around strategy to tire out customers to prevent receiving a refund.

I've stayed in bad motels. I had to leave this one. I would have stayed, if it were only the holes in the walls and door, the busted front door jam, the moldy stinky broken fridge, or the destroyed furniture and light fixtures. Here's why I left: My first room's shower didn't work, the knob made no water. So I had them move me to another room. The second room had a couple roaches plus a few large bedbugs in plain sight on bed and pillows. OK buh bye.

My stay was poor for short time, visiting my cousin and his girlfriend, my godsis. Their room happens to be alongside the hotels swimming pool. This swimming pool is the WORST. As a hotel, fully functioning, with Swimming pool in service or not, needs to kept up health codes, standards. The pool currently has lowest water level filled of green dirty green water, pillow floats trash and since its been raining leaves alge just looks unhealthy sick seaweed to looks of it. Disgusting, and honestly should be against some type of health codes. I worry about my cousin his girlfriend whose room is closet to the pools breathing pockets contamination. The staff is too worried about cleaning residents room, not enough attention to the property that houses paying residents they prey on. Before, health dept put them officially out of business

Having spent a few nights at their more northern location in San Jose, I had no reservation with making a reservation at the location in Bakersfield.I'm not sure what makes Bakersfield so expensive but with Riverside and Orange Counties so close, this seemed like the only reasonable alternative. Booking.com showed it at the lowest price, but when I saw the Smoking designation, I changed that, and it put me in a two bed queen-sized room, instead of one bed.I had been over at the new indoor skate park taking photos and video and I had been so busy, I was late getting to the motel. There were no problems. In fact, the woman at the front desk got me into a no-smoking, one bed room, which fixed the price. The room is reasonable, not glamorous. If you think a low price will get you a four star hotel, you are in the wrong country. The bed is fine. Everything in the bathroom works well. The TV is a remnant from another age and the refrigerator was unplugged and there is no microwave oven. It's all very much the same as the northmost San Jose location--functional, not beautiful. The second night, the key did not work. Truly, I didn't expect foul play. Putting the card key in my wallet sometimes is okay, sometimes not. The people behind the front desk were amazingly friendly and only requested identification. The air conditioning was on full blast when I returned to the room. I don't want to be a popsicle, and I can't be a momsicle, so don't freeze me.

If I could give negative stars I would. The only thing that was decent about this place was the pleasant young lady at the desk who checked me in.The room smelled bad, and I mean REALLY bad! The tub was rusty in several places. The toilet tank lid was missing and had been replaced with a sheet of hard plastic with several cigarette burns on it. I witnessed three separate drug deal place right out front of my window, and I don't mean marijuana. There were a whole lot of people around who looked and acted like they were pretty high on a very strong stimulant. The seemed like the had probably not slept for several days.I'm a guy who can take pretty good care of himself and I felt a little on edge when I left the room. I would NEVER stay there if my wife or daughter were with me.Spend the extra $20 and stay down the street somewhere else.

What can I say? It was late and it was dark. It was cheap. The night clerk and resident manager were super nice. The room looked pretty clean -- but there were plenty of visiting insects (discovered in the morning they were pincer bugs, not roaches). Upon closer inspection - the furniture was pretty shabby and worn. The bed was pretty beat - encased in a nice plastic bedbug proof wrapper which made it pretty sweaty sleeping. Pillows were pretty thin and worn. All that is pretty tolerable -- but the couple fighting next door was pretty awful. The paper thin walls could not keep out the noise from domestic disputes and door slamming from longer term tenants in adjacent unit. I wouldn't recommend staying here over other places in town but it's not the worst place I've stayed. There are cheaper/nicer hotels 10 mi east of Bakersfield if you keep going!

I wish there were negative stars. My boyfriend and I woke up at 3am this morning with bugs all over the room! We left and wanted our money back the lady said she can only get us another room. If one room is infested they're all infested! Horrible customer service!

Do not book here. Booked with hotels.com, Rosedale Inn said they had to charge me an extra 50 bucks cash which I didn't have on me, so I didn't get the room I paid for. This was very annoying at 1 am. To add insult, I was unable to get a refund of the initial 70 something bucks I paid for the room, because they wouldn't pick up the phone from the booking site. Luckily Motel 6 had a room open. Trust your gut feeling when you see this sketchy location and stay far away.

WTF! These people allowed someone to run my debit card to get a room and even after I told them they still allowed this person to stay in the room and told,me I was not getting a refund. I Want to make it clear they will return my money because they had no right letting someone very familiar to them run a card they knew did not belong and had no permission to do so. I hear this is nothing new and they allow people the run credit cards often. Thats to bad because you should know when to settle an issue when its brought to you and since when do any rooms cost 82$ CRAZY AS F damn right you aint the buckingham so why 82.00 what my debit card was charged. I will be writing a grievance and a police report.
