Just moved to the area about a month ago and this was one of the first places I visited with family. I wanted to visit a few times before I left my review; to feel out the environment and who visits here as well. This park for sure gets 5-stars from me! I recommend it to all (if you have allergies I suggest carry Benadryl or whatever brand you use) be prepared, so you can enjoy your visit. The area is almost beyond words; it's so beautiful. Coming from out of the area and not having anything like this near me- this park is a super blessing to have in such close proximity to my home. Every time I've been here it's full of families, couples or just single individuals having fun and enjoy themselves. Across the street there is a business that rents inter-tubes (life jackets too and strongly recommend) for riding down the part of the Kern river that runs beside the park. There is a little walkup-window restaurant (they have shaved ice!) across the street, as-well-as a gas station that sells just about anything you can think of.The property has a restroom (not a port-a-potty), picnic tables, trash cans and grills for cooking food. Whether or not that's allowed during certain months (I have no idea- we grilled burgers and no one had anything to say). We made sure all hot coals etc were out tho. Very important to be responsible in areas such as this. Fire danger up here is not a joking matter. There is also a play-ground for the kids and a basketball court. People do bring their dogs here; and not all dogs are friendly but personally, I haven't had an issue. I keep mine on a leash tho. The park also provides dog poop bags- and for the most part it appears people use them. There was a post on Facebook recently about a man who stole a family's fishing gear and ice box - that happens everywhere unfortunately (watch your stuff). I've seen the sheriff drive past and was parked at the park on more than one occasion; overall it is pretty safe. Definitely one of my favorite places to go in the KRV.

The spot here is really nice, there are tables, restrooms, playground, basketball courts, and a river! The scenery was so pretty and they have shops on the other side, my husband bought a delicious ice cream. The experience was really cool!

Nice park in the heart of Kernvillle. The park had picnic tables, allowed dogs, has a path along the river waterfront, playground, and several nice trees that provide good shade. It also has free street parking, although this is limited, and I can see how in the summer it must be hard to find parking. It is also close to a few restaurants and shops. Some people were fishing right on the waterfront.

This is my first time to visit this park. It is right on the Kern River, it's beautiful. They have a nice path to walk along it. It's peaceful, clean, and definitely a very enjoyable place to spend some time. At one end of the park there are bathrooms. There are picnic benches and a bunch of shade spots. I wish we brought a picnic here but we went for pizza beforehand. My son and his friend had fun running all over, swinging and putting their feet in the water. Only one part was actually safe to do so. There is usually a beach area but the river was so full it was under water. With the river so full it was moving so fast. Nice to watch, but scary to get too close. It was a warm day so I think I would go back when it's not in the summer time. I have never seen so many squirrels, they were everywhere!! So many tiny babies and they aren't scared of you. I tried to get some pictures of them. Very nice place to visit. Within walking distance there are a lot of places to get food and drinks. My pictures I took won't post on my review. They are in my photo album though

Nice park, they have a basketball court, play ground, flushing toilets, bbq, picnic tablet and a couple of benches. Nice grassy area and next to the river to chill. Some of the bbq grills are right next to the walking trails and people would just walk by your area.... I will come back for sure...

Riverside Park is one of my favorite places to visit. It's shady trees and green grass are located along the Kern River. It's family friendly with swings and slides for the kids. I especially like watching the rafters and kayakers zoom down the river. I don't raft or kayak myself, but it's fun to watch. There are excellent eateries and stores within walking distance, too.
