Walked up to this food place by the Home Depot. Saw this sign saying that they've won the last six Chilli Verde cookout contests, and so thought - what the hell, why not.So this lovely chap came to the window..."Would you like a sample sir?" So I tried a sample of his chili verde, while he proudly explained that it is all fresh, he uses four types of meat, loves what he does, and tries to make further improvements every day. They've been at that spot for over 10 years.The chili verde tasted positively amazing. Probably the best I have ever tasted, and I do have the odd chili verde as I travel around.He made me a chili verde burrito, adding scrambled eggs and rice, and it was absolutely delightful. I sat down outside the entry to the Bakersfield Home Depot, and he came out with another sample of one of his sauces which was equally amazing.Wow. Next time I will take my wife for dinner here, it is that good. I'll be sure to bring a candle and mayhap even a table cloth to improve the environment. Anyone in the Bakersfield area go say hi to Valentin and his wife, and enjoy the utter culinary delight they serve. It's worth the detour from the 99 which most of us would use to get through B'field on the way somewhere.Yum, and what nice people!

I have to say this place started out pretty good for our first time, but they are over priced! Just because they get some good local referrals makes them the best chili verde in town I beg to differ. The food was good not great. Our second time around was unfortunately the last. My wife ordered some tamales and they were dry, dry like the Sahara Desert! Secondly she ordered their famous chili verde burrito, through the first couple bites she was fine, it's when she bit the third time and was chewing she didnt notice anything until she was about to swallow and felt a scratch atop the roof of her mouth. She immediately spat it out and discovered what looks to be the thin wire that is inside the twisties you use at the grocery store to secure your produce etc. This incident was recent 12-24-2015. To think we were referring family & friends to this place. That changed real quick we will not recommend this run of the mill roach coach any business. This place also charged my wife $5 for a fountain drink!?Be warned patrons.

Some of the best tamales! Love going here and getting a delicious meal. The staff is always kind and the food is always consistent.

I haven't tasted the food yet so this review is not about the food. The lady was rude and talks to people like their stupid. That's enough for me not to go back!

Excellent carnitas tacos, chicken tacos, asada tacos. chile verde is pretty good but I've had better. highly recommended

Great chile verde - No wonder this is award-winning Chili Verde the best in town.

The name of this place is misleading. I haven't seen a hot dog yet but who knows. These are the guys in the taco truck outside of the Home Depot on Rosedale highway. They are also the defending champions of the local chile verde cook off and have won some insane amount of years. Everything from the street tacos to the tea are well crafted. There are a few tables and chairs if you chose to sit there but it is all out in front of the parking lot and loading zone. One little mark against them is that they use nacho cheese on the their chili verde nachos and I think it takes away from how awesome they are.

Love the chili verde from here. my family and i order through the owner by text and we buy it in bulk, such great customer service!

One time I asked for quesadilla and this was just a mess They have terrible customer service the lady is so rude and ugly with her attitude, many people complain about this place I've heard ,,, and I've seen the owner accept meat from the homeless locals they bring it over in a shopping cart from the local Mexican market Vallarta next door and he rewards them with treats , so disgusting and I'm glad they removed him from the Home Depot area .. 0 stars

Great food! I'll definitely be back to eat through the menu. Chili Verde lives up to the hype. I'd post a pic of the food, but I ate it too fast it was so good.
