Pure Essentials Day Spa

My husband was out in Bakersfield, her a cycling race and decided to treat me to a spa day during his ride. This was not what I expected. This is a place that offers massage and facials, but doesn't have any spa amenities. Furthermore, they have a skeleton staff. My facial was canceled hours before the service because the esthetician got sick. This is understandable with the state of the world. However, they didn't have anybody else to provide the service. Well, no problem. Let me still get my 10 AM massage. I get to the salon at 10 AM. Yelp, says they open at 9 am but nobody is there. I say at about 10:01am Karina shows up. She needs about 10 minutes to prepare before we can start the massage. I'm not in a rush, so no problem. My 90 minute massage was cut down to probably about 75 minutes. When I confronted her about it, she did takeoff $10. But many people would not say anything at all. I found this to be unethical. The whole thing was rather disappointing.

Came in for a massage with my mom & Karina was awesome. Such a sweetheart, did an amazing job. Felt so relaxed afterward, like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Everyone seemed friendly & a cute little locale.

I have been here three times: a facial and two massages. I've had a few facials from different estheticians in town and this was my least favorite, but that could have been that particular gal and not a reflection of their business. But let me get to the real deal: massages! I had my first one two days before my wedding. My masseuse was phenomenal. It was the perfect combination of soothing and relaxing mixed with deep tissue to help me destress before the big day. Unfortunately she left. I went with the receptionist's recommendation to try Nicole and I'm so glad I did. Not only are her hands made of pure gold (or possibly steel) but she made me feel comfortable and casually gave me so information on muscles work, proper stretching, etc. I left feeling more knowledgeable about my own body and not overwhelmed, which can happen when a masseuse talks nonstop through the hour. Nicole even texted to follow up with me the following day. She was amazing even though I was sore the next day. But don't fret, intense deep tissue was my own choice!Nicole, I'm coming back for you in a couple weeks!

I wanted to give my mom a special Mother's Day gift and the ladies at Pure Essentials delivered. She said she felt really spoiled so I'm really glad I chose this place. They make an effort to make you feel at home. Overall, it was such a nice cozy spa to treat that special someone in your life.

Dishonest and flat out lied ! I guess honesty and morals dont mean anything! I don't recommend if you are paying cash or credit card!Please let me explain. I called about a month ahead and got a quote for 360.00 which included all services listed and cupping. Here is the services I received: acrylic nails full set 45.00, madheri pediatric 40.00, back to basic massage: 70.00, 60 min. Classic facial: 75.00 and a sugar scrub for 70.00 dollars. I did not receive the cupping as the massage therapist indicated she was not yet certified for cupping. FULL Charge of 310.00 for services. However, my husband drove down from lake Isabella to pay the bill in full due to the card we used being declined. So, the front desk lady charged my husband 360.00. He handed her 4 - 100.00 dollar bill's. She handed him 40 dollars as cash back. He even gave her an extra 20.00 to tip for the ladies who worked on me. So total cash given was 380.00. After I finished I asked for a written receipt. The receptionist that helped my husband had left for the day. The receipt I received was for 310.00. My husband was waiting in the car and when I showed him the receipt he stated" he paid 360.00 plus a tip of 20.00 extra" on top of what I tipped for our credit card declining in the first place." I went back in and spoke with the front desk. They stated the money in the register was correct and matched the receipt. They tried calling the original front desk lady, however she did not answer her phone. My receipt giving was $50.00 shorter than what we paid in cash. So, i asked if the extra charged was for the cupping (which I didnt receive). The lady said that we weren't charged for it. I stated my husband paid $360.00 and gave an extra tip of $20.00 dollars. What happened to the extra money given? They stated, "What extra money! The extra $50.00 and the extra $20 was not there. They said to call back on Saturday, the same front desk lady will be working. I called Saturday and spoke with the front desk lady. She stated they could only offer me another facial, no store credit. I didnt understand since we paid over the amount charged. I asked for a store credit so I could get my nails again. She declined and stated again only a facial. So, when I asked where the extra money went she stated my husband only paid $310.00 in cash and implied she gave him 90.00 dollars cash back. His word against her word, I'll let you decide. So sad... it took a while to save up for my birthday surprise.

Love this place!! Just left here. Had gift certificates for a massage, a facial, and a pedicure. Nicole did my massage, and OH MY GOSH! She was awesome! It felt amazing. Just the right amount of pressure. Checked in to make sure I was feeling okay, but otherwise just let me enjoy! I can't wait to go back.Sherry did my facial and my pedicure. She was great! My skin felt amazing when she was done and my feet are smooth and soft. Perfect Saturday morning!!

I got such a wonderful massage here. I've had a tense neck and back pain since a car accident a few years ago, and I'm starting to finally feel that tension release after that massage! I will definitely be back here with my mom, and continue to work on the knots in our backs with seriously impressive results from Pure Essentials Day Spa.

I went there and had a wonderful experience. Cristina, the receptionist, was so helpful and kind. Really made my experience a great one.

Tried to call them 2 separate days, at different times of the day, during their posted business hours, even left a message and no one ever called back. If that's how you do business, I'll take mine somewhere else.

There is nothing like Essentials, a Bakersfield classic to say the least! However, if it wasn't for Shaina Looker greeting me the minute I walk into the salon with the warmest smile & such vibrant customer service it wouldn't be the same! Nothing beats going to Essentials & seeing her beautiful face greeting me at the door
