Polga Fitness is a combination of Pole fitness and Yoga. I had my first experience with Polga Fitness when my friend bid on a Polga party at a silent auction and won. She invited me (a swing dancer) and a group of her ballroom dancing friends to join her. I initially said no, as I assumed that Polga Fitness was secret code for stripper pole dancing, but knowing the group that was going (very conservative) I reluctantly agreed. My pre-first impressions couldn't have been more wrong! Here was a group of married ballroom dancing females laughing and giggling and having fun as we learned a few simple spins to contemporary/hip music. This was a group of women feeling empowered in their own feminine abilities, not a group of women pandering to the tastes of leering men. I talked to the instructor, Diana, after the class and told her about some self-confidence issues I was dealing with. I am a nationally competitive swing dancer and dance instructor whose shyness around men was holding me back from reaching the next level in my competitions. Diana shared with me her vision for Polga Fitness and how she wanted to empower women, help them get physically fit, increase their strength and flexibility, increase their self-confidence, and show them how to have a lot of fun. She challenged me to try a few private lessons and see what a difference it made.I started taking private lessons (way too chicken to actually do this in a group) and was 'flipping' upside down on the pole in no time (only a couple of weeks)! I couldn't believe that I was doing it, and looking good, too! (Diana takes pictures to help us remember and celebrate our accomplishments). And the difference it made in my self-confidence was amazing. I can now look anyone directly in the eyes with no shyness whatsoever!!I have now started taking some group lessons and they are sooooo much fun! Can you imagine the adrenaline rush of hanging upside down or spinning on a 15' tall spinning pole?!? It is not at all intimidating to do our spins and tricks in a group setting, and the girls in your class quickly begin to feel like your closest friends! There's usually someone better than you to give you a feel for what you can do if you keep working at it, and someone at or below your own level so you can see where you've come from and share the journey. The group classes are kept small (no more than 5 people in each class, I believe) so you never get lost in the crowd. Diana gives everyone personal attention and encouragement. She's a perky little thing - kind of like a permanent ray of sunshine. There are classes geared more towards beginners, classes for more experienced dancers, and classes emphasizing stretching and strength building, too. Workshops are held periodically in other related fitness fields.Polga Fitness allows you to schedule private parties for you and your friends. Or you can try out the private lessons or group classes. This business is A+ and as classy as you can get!http://www.polgafitnessbasba.com/

I've been to several other pole fitness studios and I would say this is the worst I've been to. The classes don't have much structure/are pretty much using whatever made up moves or techniques Diana and the other "instructors" come up with. There's actually a lot of literature out there on ways to build the strength necessary for more advanced moves, what kind of exercises they should be doing to warm up. Instead they just keep girls trying the move over and over again until they either get it or leave. Overall the classes are barely acceptable--there is a pole and there are moves/goals/tricks, although they're not well planned or organized or using any of the information available about how to structure a class in pole fitness. The main reason I rate them 2 stars is the price. If a monthly gym membership including yoga, cycling, body pump classes and a 24/7 gym is less than $25 per month...there's no possible way to justify these classes that don't really give a great workout. They range from $10 if you go to tons of classes and have an expensive membership to $25 per class to drop in/not commit to a huge monthly direct deposit payment. So I can go here once a month, or to my regular gym (fitness classes included) all month for the same price. It's not a hard choice. If this was a more reasonable membership fee and the classes weren't always full and overcrowded (favorites frequently drop in even if the class is already full and then overcrowd the already overcrowded room) I'd consider it. But right now for the quality of mediocre class and the exorbitant rate--I'd rather go to a standard gym or Crossfit while I wait for a real Pole Fitness place to come to Bakersfield.

I'm 31, a happy wife and mother of a 1 1/2 year old. If you are a woman looking for a creative strength-building workout, you've found it.If you are willing to try something new, you're about to be surprised by your own body.Polga offers pole fitness, fly gym, and hula hoop classes on a weekly basis, and has held women's empowerment and self defense workshops. You can easily register online each week for the classes you choose. You can vary your schedule from week to week depending on what style of workout you want. The difference I've experienced at Polga is that the classes (Pole, in particular) are not about learning a sexy pole dance routine -- it's about using the pole as a piece of fitness equipment in order to build strength, flexibility, and balance. Not to say that it doesn't make you feel sexy when you start to realize just how strong your body is becoming! It is certainly fun as well as challenging. The atmosphere I have experienced there is encouraging, positive, and accepting. I've noticed that the instructors make it a point to walk each person to the door as they leave after class and share a personal word or two. Looking back on my own personal story, I felt a bit lost after I had my son. Life was good, but the majority of my time and energy went into caring for others and my priorities didn't include myself. Don't get me wrong -- I LOVE WHAT I DO (staying home with my son)... but when I started working out at Polga Studio, it brought back a renewed sense of achievement in myself. My body isn't in shape like it used to be before I had a child. It's easy to feel frustrated and defeated when you are used to your body looking better than it does now. But fitness is a process! I'm enjoying every bead of sweat and every time my muscles burn at Polga. There are all different ages and sizes of women there working out and it has become a wonderful place for me to go 2 times a week -- I can get focused, share some laughs, learn something new, and continue to get fit.

I love it! Ive been doing this for 5 months and i love it so much! Unfortunately i have to take some time off or i would still be going. The instrustor is so understanding and helpful. She was also willing to work with my schedule, and if things came up i could just reschedule. I recommend this to ever one. It made me feel sexy, strong, confident. Polga is amazing

I actually drove up to Bakersfield from Santa clarita to see what the fuss was about. I sure wasn't disappointed. The studio was clean, bright, feminine and great music playing. I am an older lady so Diana, the instructor, did not "put me thru the wringer", but I did get a good workout. Diana has a gift, she knows how much i can take! We could sure use a Polga studio here in Santa Clarita with Diana as our instructor!

Polga is so awesome. She offers different classes like fly gym, hula hooping, women workshops, strength training and so much more.... and of course pole. Lol. Pole is fun and challenging. The classes gives you structure. Since I've never done this before, the structure is great. You learn something new all the time. Very supportive group.

I highly recommend finding a different studio in Bakersfield. Diana is unqualified and her classes are dull (which if you have ever taken a pole class, you know is hard to achieve.) Her student's progression is slow due to their class/level structure, taking them a year to learn tricks which should only take a month. The "method" she teaches is not a real pole dancing technique and makes the moves MUCH more difficult. I recommend youtubing pole basics if you are interested in learning proper (and effective) techniques! The only plus of this studio (if you could call it that) is that they have aerial.

I purchased this as a gift for my wife who thought this had the potential to be a fun way to work out. It was one of the best purchases I have made in some time. Diana is a fantastic instructor, who is warm, friendly and extremely helpful. My wife just adores her. (As a note to the people who gave her poor reviews, I can not imagine what kind of people you are to not get along with this woman. She is possibly one of the nicest people I have ever met!)I highly recommend this facility.

I had an awful experience at Polga. Once the owner, Diana, found out I was quite experienced in pole dance fitness and yoga, she became VERY rude, defensive, and unwelcoming. I have never met someone so unprofessional and recommend going elsewhere. If the clique-ish environment wasn't bad enough, the classes are a poor workout. The "technique" Diana teaches is NOT the correct way to spin on a pole, and her classes are too slow of pace to gain strength and lose weight.Diana also claims to have years of yoga experience... from a 24 Hour fitness. She isn't certified and anyone experienced in yoga will tell you that 24 Hour fitness IS NOT a real yoga experience.
