Remodel is upscale rustic - still has the charm of Camp Nelson, but is now very fresh and modern. I love it.

Even the bathrooms are super nice! Nicest ladies room on the whole mountain!

NO LONGER CLOSED! Offers FREE INTERNET to all guests!!! The locals have worked their butts off for an amazing remodel and revitalization. I was seriously so excited by my first visit that I came in twice in one day and even bought a souvenir hat!!! This place serves an amazing, affordable breakfast. Dinner gets upscale and crafty with a rotating menu based on what is fresh and in season. I had a burger with red smashed potatoes, it was excellent. My son had a more basic cheeseburger with fresh fruit and he was very happy.

The guy wasn't very happy because I showed up just few min before they were closing. And they had only chicken dinner left, so I got it and it was very very very good. Also there's no cell phone reception in that part of the mountain, but they have wi-fi which makes it more useful than ever. Will be back for sure, I'll just make sure I don't come last minute.

My family was excited to stay here during our trip to Sequoia National Forest. We checked in and went straight to the cafe for dinner. We originally sat inside, but the dead flies on the window sills and live ones landing on us drove us outside. The food was good and some deer were close enough to get the kids excited. We then went back to the room to settle down for our fun day ahead. We were in room #3 and the mattress was so worn that my butt was an inch from the ground when I sat on it. Turned on the TV and the satellite didn't work. Two gentlemen came by and swapped out the receiver to get it working again.Next, my son runs to the bed and tells me there is a bug on the floor. It was a big potato bug. The wife is having second thoughts at this point. I then take a look in the shower and the previous guest's soap and shampoo are still in there. I asked the supervisor to take a look at the shower and explain my concern. I asked him if he thinks they cleaned the sheets since they obviously didn't clean the shower. He peels back the comforter and looks at the folded corner on the bed and says, "Should be alright." Then he walks towards the door and tells us to "Have a good night."I stop him and tell him that we would like a refund and check out immediately. He agreed and refunded the room. Did I mention there was a dead mole on the back patio too?

This is just for the restaurant, since I live in the area, I had no need of the motel. I ordered soup and salad and for seven bucks it was really good. The salad had olives and fresh iceberg, romaine, and grated carrots. The soup was homemade vegetable beef, with just enough seasoning to the broth and bits of potato, carrot, and onion. I was really surprised at how wholesome and good it was. The service was exceptional as well. I was greeted with real friendliness and felt completely at ease and relaxed. I suppose the altitude change had a little to do with it too, since I tend to get a little high above 4000 feet (it's 4700 ft up). People who work in the diner and in the store congregate and talk about whats going on with them and you immediately get a sense of what life is like up there. I intend to make a habit of going up there once in a while.

First of all it is definitely not closed. The Pierpoint Springs resort has been open this year. We are part of the restoration process that is cleaning up and returning properties to homeowners who lost their homes during the devastating fires that ravaged this community last year. Stacy and Chris who are the wife/husband mangers of the Pierpoint have been nothing but fabulous during the many months we have been in this community!!!I have had many a meal at the restaurant - breakfast/lunch/dinner. I have yet to have a bad meal. The hamburgers are cooked to order, and every time I've ordered the Pierpoint burger medium rare, that is exactly what I get. Stop by the restaurant either coming to the Giant Sequoia National Forest or on your way back. Eventually when this project is over I will head back to my home state of Montana, but I will remember this place as a piece of home away from home!

Went up this past week with a buddy and stayed 2 nights.. neat place, right at the edge of the coniferous forest. Rooms were nicely appointed with Directv, and a nice sitting area in the back. Open both doors in the room to get a nice cross breeze! The restaurant/bar are a gem.. great food. John makes some killer dinners. We enjoyed the sausage pasta Family night immensely. Don't forget the Pierpoint Burger.... wow... excellent, add lettuce and tomato though. Breakfast was also great, as we had eggs/bacon/cowboy potatoes. Coffee was the only thing that they need some help on.The bar and staff are incredibly friendly. Linda a a great bartender as well as Julie... good pours and an excellent selection of beer and liquor. They have 3 TV's so it's nice to watch a game and enjoy some chow. It's is very rustic and the bar has an awesome view out into the back area.. the sunsets are amazing.Best thing about this place (and Camp Nelson in general) is that people are genuinely friendly and welcoming... and not superficially, either. They want to actually get to know you and include you in things.. a rare thing for a mountain community.Camp Nelson is also a great place to base your hiking, etc from.. there are numerous trails just down the road in Camp Nelson, as well as up in the high country near Ponderosa, etc.oh yeah, if you bring your dog, there are many locals that come in for dinner and let their dogs hang out in the area.. they are all SUPER friendly. But, be careful with pine cones... Barrack, the black lab will not let you do anything but play fetch with it!We'll be back for sure!

I would never recommend this restaurant. One would think that Friday night would be a safe time to eat here, but no! Our to-go Order took 40 minutes, and still the fried chicken was raw... I had already been warned about the greasy-slime that they refer to as fries, and the gross inedible salads. Whatever you do, do not go out the back door by the bar! Open sewage trench...Check expiration dates on all foods bought in the store. Bring exact change, unless you have a need for loads of nickles... Friday Night??? wow.The couple in the booth next to us wished us 'Good-luck', and now I know why.

I would never recommend the hotel or restaurant to anyone. Restaurant review: food was horrible with very soggy fries made from what seemed to be 165 day old oil. The burgers were tiny with soggy bread. Same types of issues for the grilled cheese sandwich. We left almost the entire meal on the plates and noticed others complaining as well. The place was generally dirty with trash and dead flies around, especially in the billiard area. Hotel Review: It did not seem clean at all with lumpy beds, old carpet, peeling wall paper and small bug formations on the wall in the bathroom. The walls are also paper thin and you hear everything in adjacent rooms. We would have left immediately but it was late and had no where else to go. Then around 1:30 am we were awoken to a van that pulled up right in front of our unit. They were very loud, slamming the van door repeatedly, walking back and forth along the path outside the unit doors, going in and out of units, shouting to each other, etc...I walked outside to ask them to quiet down only to see it was the hotel owner, who we met earlier, with one of her staff members preparing units for the next day!! UNBELIEVABLE - THIS PLACE SUX, BIG TIME!! STAY AWAY!!
