A suburban nature park located in Stevenson Ranch, CA, this is one of the best places to take a walk and get your exercise in. One of the highlights of this park is what is known as the Pico Canyon stairs, a staircase that is about three flights that will challenge your fitness. It goes from the park up to a residential street and is used by those that want to get their cardio workout in.What is also amazing about the park us that, you'll also encounter deer in the remote part of the park. It's definitely a place to check out.

Nice county park with bathroom facilities although they had soap but no running water in the sink or water fountain. Spotted three deer under the huge tree.

Wow! This is probably my favorite trail I've run in Santa Clarita so far. Looks like a lot of people went to walk and do the stairs but you really need to hike up the mountains. The trails will take you up to the ridge of the mountains and give you incredible views of the alley. There's a lot of steps cut into the dirt which helps on some of the hills. All that being said, the trail is REALLY long if you want to keep going and few really narrow ridges with steep drops on either side. You don't need to be an expert to hike this but be careful and bring water. TIP: stay on the trails that look most travelled. I took a few of the less beaten paths only to find dead ends. I did a fair amount of back tracking thinking I was being adventurous.

***Disclaimer: This is a review for the stairs, I haven't worked up enough courage to run the trail (Rumor has it that there is a pack of coyotes living in the meadows, don't say I didn't warn you). ***My first time visiting, I arrived and there were 2 police cars in the parking lot (this is a rare occurrence in the Santa Clarita Valley). Being the nosy SCV neighbor I am, I pursued to see what all the fuss was about. Apparently, there was a brawl between two aggressive stair masters #justscvthings. I live for suburb drama. Other than an occasional cat fight, here are some things to look forward to: + 240 steps + A killer workout (I swear...everyone that works out here is a freakin' beast) + Crowds between 6-11am + Friendly gardeners to wave to on Tuesday mornings

Skip the stairs and head for the ridges! Add to our beginning rock maze if you find it! Really fun hikes up dirt hills with multiple trails to meander and back track on. There's also an equally great flat trail that protects from the sun and loops for an easy walk/run. And sure do the stairs too. Nice views, nice different level work out spots including hoping rocks and running circles.

Oh where do I begin? How about, this place is awesome!Granted, it is almost Spring and due to the recent rains, this Canyon is so green and filled with wildflowers! I photographed atleast 12 different kinds and uploaded a few on Yelp. There is a nice parkong lot with a doggie waste station, places to sit and restrooms nearby. The trail is fantastic - pretty well maintained with great views. There are several steep side trails that are fun to run up. Then, the best of both worlds a concrete set of (I counted) 166 steps! Killer workout! I went closer to noon so it wasnt that crowed - averaged 5 people on the stairs while I was there. I jogged up 4 times then did 4 set of lunges up the stairs. At first glance, it doesn't seem that hard, but oh my I was exhausted! It is a challenge! Bring plenty of water and a towel!

Quaint little park tucked away off of the 5 freeway that has some dirt trails and benches. Also offers doggie pickup bags and grassy areas. There is a killer set of stairs if you keep walking left from the parking lot. Roughly 150 neatly stacked little cement stairs that will work you out. It's reminiscent of what the Santa Monica Stairs might have looked like before the years of use and abuse. The top of the flight offers a nice view of...houses and hills. That and the satisfaction of a good workout.

For full review see this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meh0QjnGktIPico Canyon/Mentryville is an awesome hike with an historical significance as well. The parking lot is in a shaded area adjacent to the Mentryville mining town, which dates back to the earliest stages of the oil boom in the 1870s. The trail starts on a hard packed dirt road and gradually penetrates the canyon going up. However, once you get to the end of the road and turn up hill onto the more narrow trail ascending the first of two hill tops, the contour lines seem to fly by! The view becomes significant as low as 1800 feet above sea level and the hiker is treated to a piece of history--remnants of the oil pumps and pipe lines from the liquid gold heyday in California! The trail descends slightly into a saddle but quickly picks up elevation again on the switchbacks as the beautiful views of adjacent ridge lines become more prominent. The end of the trail is a cleared out area with a picnic table that you should definitely carve your initials on if you get the chance! The view is great, but beware of the wildlife. There is not much foot traffic on the trail, which is good. But that also means no help if something goes wrong. I saw significant wildlife, including a large snake (likely non-poisonous thankfully) sunning himself on the trail and a cougar. According to the ranger, there are two cougars in the area. For that reason, I would recommend hiking this with another person and bringing something to defend yourself with. Definitely keep dogs on leash for this reason and I would not bring a small dog up to the top. First time hiking here , me And my friends weren't sure where to go but weFollowed the trail and it seems like it gets cut off but you basically just keep going straight and also follow the foot steps other people have left behind. The main trail basically takes you all around . You just have to be careful because you do go through the middle of the bushes and plants so you get scratched of your wearing shorts (I was ) lol . It was a fun hike to try it out we did about 1.5 miles and we did the stairs that are on your ride side to finish off a good workout

Hiking areas are easy to moderate climb. Good area for a short nature hike. Parking is limited in the back of the Canyon. Wide open on weekdays, but you may need to park at the park's entrance and walk in on weekends. The linked film was shot at the beginning of spring March 22, 2019. It depicts the mountain range, green hillsides and blue skies. Aerial video of the area: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MN7tqyZgjS4&feature=youtu.be
