The name says it all, the views are panoramic! Now look, when I say panoramic, I mean Bakersfield panoramic. Bakersfield isn't known for being the most scenic city in California, but it has its moments. The park is situated atop a bluff with endless views of Oildale. The views are truly expansive and it's beautiful to spend an afternoon walking across the bluff or our favorite for visiting the park...feeding the squirrels!I have truly never seen as many squirrels as I did at Panorama Park! They are everywhere and they are wilding out! Before arriving, we went to Winco and picked up 6 pounds of unsalted shelled peanuts. Yes...6 pounds! We set up, started throwing, and out they came, baby! The squirrels be swarming!!! They have a bunch of little underground tunnels and they start communicating with each other and just make their appearance. The squirrels are uber friendly, to the point that they were taking peanuts right out of our hands. They'd eat a ton of peanuts and act like they'd never seen one in their life! The squirrels are hungry!!! It's a fun and wholesome way to spend the afternoon. Note though, like any public space, the park isn't all wholesome. We overheard some interesting and potentially (actually definitely) illegal conversations taking place, so like anywhere, be aware of your surroundings.

I had no idea that Bakersfield had a park with such a lovely perspective of the city when I first started traveling here for work. This really is a hidden gem.

Our house comes to walk the bluffs. There is a lovely park to walk flat on Panorama Drive with some exercise stations. There is the path along the river below. But we want the up and down , glute shaping exercise of steep trails. I have not found a comprehensive map of the trails. A few are wide, many are narrow, there are some tough spaces to get across and some really vertical paths that are more like climbing than hiking. Saw a guy with gloves...almost on a vertical all fours. Not going to lie, safety is a concern. We've all slipped on loose dirt but never gone rolling down the bluff. But good shoes, careful footing and caution are required.

Careful where you park! Went for a 30 minute walk and when I returned they broke into my car and stole everything they could.

Despite the fact that Bakersfield simply doesn't have a lot of park options to offer, the fact that Panorama Park has no restrooms at all makes it sub-par in my book; it's not as if this park were 100 miles from nowhere...Further into the minus column, this park also has no play equipment. On the plus side of the ledger, visitors here will find that the view down over the bluffs toward the Kern River is surprisingly nice, and somewhat scenic. You can also catch some pretty legit and beautiful sunsets from here as well.

One of Bakersfield's elite parks. A view unrivaled in the city. Panorama Park, or the Bluffs, is the perfect place for a leisurely stroll. During the day, there are impressive views of the natural Bakersfield landscape, and those nasty oil rigs. At night, the rigs resemble blinking, distant stars. A perfect place for couples and pets. Walk along the bluffs and observe the countless rabbits, squirrels, and birds found throughout the park. I can't think of a better natural date spot, as long as you plan around the scorching Bakersfield heat. An elite park, come and visit the bluffs today. Ps. The homes next to Panorama are awesome small mansions, and if you walk far enough east you'll reach Harvard on the Hill (Bakersfield College).

I will say Panorama Park is a great place to get a quick work out for that booty or just enjoy a view of the local dinosaur graveyard. Paved trails, very clean, good landscaping and plenty of free parking. I guess only thing I can add is that it would be nice if they added some restrooms. Also be aware of your surroundings. Lately there have been your typical worthless idiots robbing and assaulting people.

Beautiful park with spectacular views. Lots of free parking alongside the street. Stay clear of the panhandling squirrels. Tip they love blueberries and nuts. It's funny to see them go crazy for the nuts.

Bakersfield, California. Located right on the heart of Central California, this pristine city boasts quite a rich history. Some of it can be found in this lovely park I discovered a few days ago during my stay in Bakersfield. Panorama Park is beautiful and with quite the lovely view to show for it.This park which is about a mile long in length, is a public park where all come to run, workout, or enjoy the serene view of the desert. Yes, there is wildlife that runs abundant, not too big of creatures! The view from the top is just amazing. You can see the river snaking its way below from around the hilltop. Oil derricks are a common sight in the vast oil fields you can see from above. They do have dirt trails which can lead you to the area down below for a better view. This is a place to come and check the view out for yourself. Its a state of Zen from up above, especially the morning after a rainy day. Bike trails are all over so you know it is bike and doggy friendly! The only perk......no restrooms, so if you must go, do so before arriving!

Panorama Park is a great place to come for a relaxing stroll or even a run/jog. Overlooking Kerns oil industry, this park has quite a view. I need to get more pictures up of this place. I will soon. People say it smells well duh- it's what this city and county was founded upon. Oil is stinky. I love coming here right before it gets dark. Although, that's usually about the time the sprinklers come on so watch out. The view of the oilfields is nice. At dusk there are 1,000 of little lights from the pump jacks. There are plenty of walking trails on down the bluffs as well. I like to jog there sometimes to get off the path that can get somewhat crowded also for extra intensity. Be careful though... Some of these trails are steep. For some reason there are no restroom facilities here which is a bummer. So make sure you go beforehand. Minus a star for that. It's also not really on the way to anything but BC. That's not a problem for me because I do live close by. Bakersfield is so spread out. If you lived in Rosedale it's a far drive. :/ If you're looking for a place to take the family for a walk, or to clear your own mind, meditate, do some yoga or jog some trails...... Panorama Park is just the place. Paborama Park, 4 stars!
