Ortega's Char Burgers

I adore this place. It's my favorite spot to eat, in Bakersfield. Family owned and run with heart, the Bravo Burger, with spiced fries and a Dr. Pepper is my go to. What a tasty meal! The spot is cute and filled with light, clean and always busy.The service is heart centered and down to earth.If you're a Bakersfield local, keep this family gem in mind; where the food is so good and the vibe so sweet.And if you're passing through, stop in and enjoy!

Everything is always delicious and fresh. The Chile Relleno plate is my favorite. Sauce has a nice kick and spice to it. Salad is always fresh also and I love how they add a pickle to it. Yum!

This place is great. The food is made to order and no matter what you eat it's so great and the amount of food goes just right with the price which is not expensive at all. I eat there about 5 times out of a week. And it's fast service as well. The staff is also awesome always friendly and attentive to the customers. Thanks for being a wonderful place to eat at.

Ortega's definitely get 5/5 for service. I've been coming by here lately and have gotten mostly the breakfast items to-go. Each time, I've been met with a friendly smile and polite conversation. The pancake platter and the omelette breakfast are usually my pickups here. Each order never came short with condiments or utensils which can't be said for most big fast food chain restaurants that charge you extra for ketchup or sauce.Sometimes, the small mom-and-pop operations go out of their way to create that ambiance and service that you find more appealing in local markets. I'll have to try their burgers next time I'm in the area.

Pastrami's are to die for we probably got a heavy hitter for the best in town. Chili cheese fries best in town for sure best zucchini also I'm telling you this place is a home run

One of the co owners of this place is probably one of the nicest business owners I've met in a long time. He's understanding, will work with you to be reasonable about things. I had a charge on my bank that made it look like I got charged twice, but instead of telling me I didn't and I'd have to wait to see, he took the time to break it down to me the way the charges work and because of that I understood that there wasn't a double charge. So I left without feeling anxious about it. I appreciate that.

This is a hidden gem. One of the best huevos rancheros in town. refried beans were so on point and alot of cheese with the tortillas and eggs. I love Huevos rancheros for breakfast once in a while and this will definitely be my first choice going forward. tried their breakfast burrito as well and loved it.

I happened to be in Bakersfield and was craving a burger. I thought I'd stop at the nearby Woolworth. I heard it was the last one in America. Unfortunately, they were closed for remodeling, which is good if it comes back as a Woolworth. Next I tried to find this small burger stand. Maybe it didn't survive the pandemic because I couldn't find it.I ended up at the old burger spot back in my college days. It was called Sail Thru Burgers. Now it's called "Ortega Char Burgers." I ordered the Cheese Burger Combo. First, I noticed the amount of fries is incredible. It could actually be a meal if I was a vegetarian. Thank God for cows.And the cheese burger was no slouch either. The patty had a great char taste and the lettuce, tomato, and onion were nice and crisp. Better than the old Sail Thru burger of years past. I've never heard of Ortega's but the place was busy with locals. And that's a good recommendation.

Everything was so decently priced and tasty. I ordered through Doordash and have been so hungry since being sick and I got a huge breakfast platter with a side of taquitos and hit the spot! They even subbed my hashbrowns for fries as requested. I will definite be ordering a sandwich or burger soon!

Oh my gosh talk about deals, I was able to feed 4 of us for like $34.00.... Cheeseburgers were big and delicious, so much great tasting French fries too!! First time there, glad I tried it!! Went thru drive through so i didn't see the inside, outside was nice with flowers and plants...
