The cleaning lady was sweet, the room was nice and clean. Felt homey. I text the manager, Brianna, asking for a phone charger and she immediately brought one up to my room. The service was exceptional. I would definitely recommend staying here and I would certainly return next time I visit Santa Barbara. Only suggestion I have is upgrading the shower head.

This place managed by Turnkey Vacation rentals was disappointing. The room was tiny and barely had light or enough towels. The neighborhood didn't feel safe at night - as a single woman I did not want to walk around alone. There were loud parties on the shared back deck well past quiet hours; also the alarm next door was going off for hours. There was dish soap but no sponge. It was decorated with fake flowers- like a grandma house. The bed was old and bouncy - can't turn over without waking up partner. Would not stay again. Most importantly- when we reached out the staff were unhelpful. They questioned us and did little in the way of hospitality. You are basically on your own until check out.

Amazing bed & no breakfast with many thoughtful accommodations including a fully equipped kitchen with commercial grade stove and refrigerator. Stocked pantry, tons of dishes, coffee and tea available. The home is very charming, there is a small balcony upstairs with seating. Our bedroom had its own bathroom with shower. There is an electric stove, blankets, fan. Queen-sized bed which was quite comfortable. They have irons, hair dryers, washer/dryer.Living room had a huge TV, books, and board games. They have complimentary bikes you can rent for the day and you are located just a block from the beach and within walking distance of many local attractions. Seriously, how can a hotel compete with that?! We are for sure returning!I will say the stairs are creaky and there's train tracks nearby so if you're a light sleeper bring ear plugs!

Stayed in the Belle Caruso room 9/22/16 & 9/23/16 and loved it!That room is in the rear of the house, downstairs. I didn't have any trouble getting a parking spot at the end of the driveway. There was a king bed & a twin bed, both with soft white comforters. Very comfy & cozy. Room was quiet. It's true the train is close & loud but I love trains & it only came by a couple of times. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. Dishes, utensils, salt, pepper, cinnamon, huge variety of tea, coffeemate, toaster AND toaster oven, microwave, fridge, and freezer. Didn't see any coffee for the coffeemaker but I always travel with my own.We spent the majority of our time on the back patio. The room has its own little private patio with a small bistro table & two chairs. Below that is a large patio that all the guests can use but no one else used it during our stay. It has a couple umbrella tables, little benches, and a fountain that attracted hummingbirds and other birds wanting a drink. Lots of trees & plants, too. There was a cute under-stairs closet with plenty of hangars, and a bathroom with a shower.Like other reviewers, I didn't have time to try out the bicycles plus it was too hot to do anything. I opted to read a book on the shady patio instead.Between the open doors & windows & the ceiling fans the room was cool enough for us in the 90F weather. The ocean is 2 blocks away at the most. You can easily walk or bike to it or there's a self-pay lot at the end of the street that is $2.00 for one hour. We saw a cafe but didn't eat there since we had gotten burgers from Chubbies. We can't wait to stay here again!!

This place is amazing! My girlfriend and I decided to take a few days off to relax and this was an obvious choice. We love santa barbara for its history and the Old Yacht Club Inn has a great story. We were greeted by Brianna the owner who is a wonderful and sweet lady who showed us around helped us with getting acquainted with the area. Every recommendation she had was exactly what we were looking for. She was a great host and did a beautiful job keeping a building of that age looking and functioning amazing. If you're just a couple like us or a larger group this is the perfect place. We were looking to experience santa barbara in its truest nature 10/10 excellent experience. Thank you Old Yacht Club Inn!

I came here a few months ago for a quick weekend getaway and had a great time. I arrived right when the wine social hour was starting, and was greeted by the inn keeper at the door with a glass! Had some great conversation with the other guests, and we even had a BBQ together that evening before turning in.Their breakfast is nice, very fresh, and beautifully prepared. They alternate each day between sweet and savory entrees. My first breakfast was an onion and potato omelet, which was awesome, with the best fresh pressed apple juice I've ever had. The second day was a poached pear, followed by french toast with strawberries and bananas. I normally don't eat super sweet and sugary food for breakfast, but I did enjoy it. The serving sizes were just enough to keep you full for the morning.I booked the Montecito room, which may be the smallest one in the inn, but it was just right for me. Both nights were very quiet and peaceful. I figured staying in an old house (it was built in 1912) you'd hear everything at night, but I honestly never heard a sound from anyone at all when I was in my room. Each room has a complementary flask of sherry in it for your night cap if you wish. So basically you get breakfast daily, and free wine and cookies all day long :)After my stay, I realized I had been overcharged, so I e-mailed the inn keepers about it. They took a little longer than I would have liked to resolve the issue, but they were very nice about it and did refund me the difference. All in all, I enjoyed my experience at the Old Yacht Club in, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place to stay near the beach in Santa Barbara.

Love this place! Although not a B&B anymore, it's still super gorgeous. Stayed in the Santa Cruz with my wife for our 7 year anniversary. The room is stunning! Upstairs. Quite. Plenty of widows for sun to come through but also plenty of blinds for privacy and to keep the rooms dark for sleeping in! If you bring kids, it has a 2nd room with a trundle bed! Borrowed bikes from the Inn and rode them to our favorite restaurants.

Except for the mustiness of the faded old bedding, the lack of bacon or ham or even a nice apple sausage to accompany their "gourmet" omelette's and the (relatively) high prices, this B&B has a lot to offer. They are a stone's throw from the zoo and a block to the beach, have bicycles to zoom about the pier and town, private parking, will negotiate a more attractive price (an offer I couldn't refuse) and the hosts were friendly, helpful and made tasty, pretty omelette's sadly in need of bacon. If they replaced the bedding, I'd go back, even without the bacon. P.S., In the main common room, look for the 4" shift where 1/2 of the house rose up, the other down. I'm told this occurred during a building move and it makes for an interesting architectural oddity..."I feel the earth move..." P.S.S. Though the owner disagrees with my description of their sheets, I know my sheet well (having a fondness for spending big bucks for high thread count products) and it may have been an error from the maid service putting on some older gear. I don't know. I only know what my body told me. And, like I said, I'd go back if that's the case and especially if they added bacon to the breakfast menu. (and they are still nice, friendly people)

I had such a great experience here that frankly I'm surprised at the number of mediocre and poor reviews on yelp. Such a bummer for such a great place. My husband and I decided to take advantage of the fantastic New Year's Day weather and took the long drive home from San Francisco, staying in Monterey and Santa Barbara. We stayed at a large hotel in Monterey and wanted something a little more cozy for our night in Santa Barbara. I researched a little and came across the Old Yacht Club, which I chose over the other B&Bs I saw based solely on its decor. Side note: why do 90% of the B&Bs in California feel they have to decorate in floral fabrics, lace doilies, distressed white and wrought iron furniture and cabbage rose wallpaper?? IMHO, there's nothing chic about "shabby chic." Anyway...We wanted a room that was not too small, with a queen or king bed and a private bath. I know some B&Bs don't have TVs in the rooms so I called ahead to be sure. The woman on the phone recommended the Cottage. It couldn't have been more perfect: king bed, pot-belly stove, flatscreen TV, and a giant 2 person Jacuzzi tub. The room was cozy and welcoming, the furnishings rustic and cabin-like (but clean and relatively new), and it was big enough for two of us to move around. The Cottage is detached from other buildings and therefore very quiet and private. (We paid $181.83 with tax for a Monday night, booked at the last minute.) The only downside is there is no actual shower in the Cottage, just a handheld shower in the tub. If there's a Jacuzzi tub available I use it, so I didn't even notice the lack of a shower until my Husband pointed it out. Breakfast was two hot courses (poached pears and banana walnut pancakes) plus coffee, tea and juice. You can choose to sit at a small table with just your family, or at a larger table to mingle with other guests. We chose to mingle and were happy about it. Everyone chatted across tables, giving the whole place a feel of a neighborhood diner where everyone knows each other. Very cute and quaint. The afternoon wine and cheese afforded another great chance to meet other guests and chat about what we did during the day and exchange ideas for dinner. It would have been nice to have a second wine option, and maybe something more than plain ol' cheddar cheese to snack on, but it was simple and fun. We could have used more seating but I understand the limits of the small space. I'm sure in the summer guests move their conversations to the patio. The location is great, a block from the beach and maybe 3/4 of a mile to the Marina restaurants. We had no problem walking to the Marina and back for a late lunch. State street is a little farther, but still close enough to bike to in the day (the B&B has bikes!) and a short drive for dinner at night. The Mission is 4 miles away. Again, I'm not sure why the negative reviews. A B&B is not a mega-hotel, and that's part of the charm. If you're looking for something with a recent $15 million remodel, all night-room service, a mini-bar and a selection of Aveda bath products, this isn't the place for you. If you want a cozy, unique place to stay with some history, and to meet and mingle with other travelers, I highly recommend the Old Yacht Club. We will definitely be returning.

What a wonderful retreat that was quiet, yet oh so close to the shuttle that took you to the action at Stearns Wharf and State St. You can't beat 1 block from stunning East Beach. The room was perfectly appointed with always a lovely breeze from both windows. With the frig./freezer & microwave, we were able to eat several meals in the room. There were snacks already in the refrigerator which was so welcome when we arrived. Brianna greeted us & was very warm & inviting. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We would love to come back.
