Best price in the county if you follow them via text messaging. Fairways are green and nice. Roughs are rough, lots of gopher holes. Greens have been beautiful so far this spring. The grill serves up the great burgers and hot dogs too. Ice water in a cup is complimentary. Wednesday is hero's day for first responders with ID. $25 includes cart.

North Kern golf course, open in 1953 and named after the late pro Jim Haggerty. I like the big open space and I've never seen the sky bluer. The big, tall, mature trees give a little bit of shade here and there but mostly this is a really warm golf course. it's just on the north side of Bakersfield and east of Shafter. My son used to come here all the time as a child for many tournaments. It was nice to go back and see it again for a day of golf.

For being a municipal course it's pretty fun the play. Slight elevation changes and the greens aren't 13's but roll nice and fast. The sand traps could use some fresh sand and water is not in play at this course. Great course to walk if you have a push cart. The employees in the pro shop are always super friendly. If you stop in for food i recommend the garlic fries. They are fire. They also have daily specials to play 18 that get text out at the different times. You can get some great prices to play any day during the week. They also have a first responder day for discounted rates.

I'm not a golfer but I CAN drive a golf cart! The hubby and I met some friends at North Kern Golf Course after they'd been begging him to start golfing. We came prepared with jackets and a Bluetooth speaker cause I needed some tunes while driving around. The views are pretty nice here and the course was cool. I love that there were bathrooms all around the course and even the restrooms in the front were nice and well stocked. As I said I'm not a golfer so I can't speak to the actual game but I enjoyed myself immensely driving around.

Hadn't been in here in nearly 20 years. Had a good time, course was pretty well kept. Greens were a little wet on a handful of the holes( we did have a 7:30am tee time so some were still shaded). The staff were friendly and helpful.

I found this public North Kern Golf Course during my business trip in Bakersfield, CA. Surprisingly, the courses are designed for enough long-distance with a total length of 6754 yards. It took about 15 - 20 minutes from the main city downtown. Since it is located in the open wild fields around farms for such as orange, grape, cows, etc, it is safe to play without worrying to hit houses. Fairways are straight wide open with some nice sunset views. I paid $35 for weekday twilight price with cart fee.

I'm not a golf course snob. Lake Chabot is one of my favorites and I've played Diablo, spyglass, Spanish bay, poppies, and I'm fine with Tulare and Lemoore. Even Exeter par 3 is fine for the price. But this. Our golf cart strap was broken and dropped my husbands golf bag twice. It lurched along at about 2 mph because it had a weak battery the pro shop guy said. And there were no other carts to switch it out. And at the end of this grass/dirt course I needed the ladies room but the whole clubhouse was locked up at 5pm and there's plenty of daylight left. We knew by the second hole that we never wanted to return. But as we got into the truck after I turned to husband and said don't ever bring me back here. He laughed because he never wants to return either. How this is a local favorite I will never understand

The old man with all white hair is the worst. So rude for no reason at all. Won't even turn around and greet you when you walk in. Lost a head cover the week before and I went back the next week and asked if it was in the lost and found and he just said "nope" without even checking. Never have had a good experience with him the all the other workers are great!Course is always in fair condition though

Worst course in kern county. Half of the course is dead and of full of holes. Pro shop lets groups of 6 or 7 play, takes atleast 5 hours to play for a group of 2. Not a single ball cleaner on tee boxes had water or towels. $55 for a round is ridiculous. $30 at best
