We spent a night in one of the pet friendly suites and were super impressed. Each suite has a fenced in backyard which made letting the dogs out super convenient. Very clean with a full-size kitchen. Would definitely recommend!

We have stayed here several times at different rooms so it's time for a review.Summit/Pinnacle/Panamint Suites:These are cozy little 1br 1ba suites. They have a garage, so you can park a small car indoors and out of the desert heat. Rooms are dated (70s/80s) but clean, queen beds, separate living room and galley kitchen with stove/microwave. These rooms have 2 TV's, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. There is an outside picnic area for each room with one of those cheap park charcoal grills. Each picnic area is fenced in. If you aren't acclimated to the desert heat, these rooms are hot and the A/C doesn't always keep up.Essex Suites:Spacious 3br 1ba duplexes, can sleep up to 6, PET FRIENDLY!Has washer and dryer, must buy your own detergent at the NEX. Kitchen with full size fridge, stove and microwave. Kitchen table with 4 chairs. Living room with armchair, couch, and desk w/chair. Closets in every room, even the living room. 2 queen beds (separate rooms) and 2 twin beds (in the 3rd room). Only tv is in the living room, but it has satellite stations. These pet friendly rooms have a fenced in back yard potty patch. Cons of the Essex Suites: Pet friendly, so our living room reeked of dog piss. Bad door seals, so the crickets came inside via the laundry room and, made a home for themselves under the washer, and chirped all night. Wife got bitten 3 times by bugs the first night. A/C is noisy and runs all night, because the door seals don't keep any air in. Bathroom toilet has too much water in it and splashed you when you flush. The staff: Politely made our room available 3hrs early so my pregnant wife could rest, but then while she was trying to rest the maids showed up, realized the suite was occupied and left quickly, then 30 min later the maintenance man showed up, stated to my wife that the last people in the room had children who were shoving shit in the electrical sockets and that he had to fix it right then.BASE CO: This NGIS and all of its facilities need to be modernized!

The accommodations are quality looking but 3 of my last 4 visits I've found living and dead cockroaches. Only 3 cockroaches this last visit! To be fair the staff is friendly and nice, the accommodations are cheap and spacious. The little houses are private, have a small yard, parking spot, and kitchen with full fridge, stove, and microwave. The two story buildings are large as well with a kitchenette with small fridge and microwave. Wifi can be hit and miss and requires you to log back on EVERY TIME you leave the area. The reason for the low rating is that there are always a lot of bugs. Cockroaches are an issue in the sewage system in Ridgecrest so they come with the area. Every few years they get a massive bug migration where hundreds and thousands of tiny beetles were passing through. Our rooms have hundreds of dead bugs all over the floors and windows. Like you can't step on the ground without stepping on 20-50 of them. So although the staff really is great and trying their best, the area just has a lot of issues.

Good place to stay , staff is very friendly , we stayed with friends and family , some of them not familiar with military life , but we love the calm and safety to be inside a base , who wouldn't right ?

I would have given this hotel (the portal suites) 5 stars but some things are just ridiculous, let's start by the running toilet consistently. Maintenance, came and looked it and fixed it for about 10 minutes. He then advised me to lift the toilet top and mess with something in the toilet. Um no, not going to happen!! It also seems like housekeeping has their own set times and the random, knocking at like 1 or 2 is also pretty bad. On the good note staff like always were very nice, and you can't beat 65 dollars compared to hotels out in town for like 149 a night. Whatever you do don't ask for room 1 the Ac will keep you tossing and turning all night long it is very very loud sound like it's going to blow up!

This is a great hotel to a certain extent. I will explain why it is great and then why I only gave it three stars. It is great because for the standard room (queen room) it is only $60, which has a kitchenette (microwave, dishes, and refrigerator and sink), a 'living room' and bedroom with attached bathroom. This is a great deal for the price of you can get on base! (Military or DOD ID card required!)The downside to all of this is that the rooms are not in a centralized location, and as such, seems like they are a bit neglected. The toilet looked like it hadn't really been cleaned after the last use. Next, the refrigerator was somewhat cold but when I checked to see that it was on its highest setting, one could see that it wasn't truly operating correctly. Lastly, when we left for the day after our first night's stay we purposely left our dirty towels and trash near the door for the maid to come and pick up, when we returned about 8 hours later, we found that the room hadn't been touched. When we called the front desk, they said that the maid had seen a "do not disturb" sign on the door, which was clearly not there when we left for the day nor when we returned. I must then draw the conclusion that either someone placed it there and removed it while I was gone, or the maid had simply stated this so they didn't have to come into the room. Keep in mind, the 'Portals' set of suites are about a half a mile away from central check in.I would stay here again, as this location is great and the price is exceptional, but I would do so with the understanding that it wouldn't be the best place in the area overall. Just my opinion!
