Looks extremely ran down inside. Costs pennies to paint walls looks like they haven't painted since the civil war.Furniture looks like people had sex and went to the bathroom on them since ww2 Room was suspiciously poorly cleanedLocation is far off from anywhere, no restaurants for 7 milesBut rooms are roomy, no disgusting old smell or smell of cleaning chemicals which many cheap hotels do. Close parking, cute drive to and from maricopa.

Im only giving two stars because thee staff was nice but the room was DISGUSTING! The couch, sheets and chair were terribly stained, and there was trash scattered around the room. We only stopped there because were too exhausted to finish our drive but next time I think we'll just sleep in our car.

What a treasure! Located at one entrance to the Carrizo National Monument that leads to remote Soda Lake and the San Andreas Fault earthquake line. In the midst of a 2-block town with this lone motel, one diner (Tina's that closed at 2 PM but super-nice owner offered to deliver food after-hours)+one Shell gas/convenience-store station, Motel 8 is an oasis/refuge for off-the-beaten-path travelers. Awesomely clean; comfy; quiet; with a clear-water swimming pool; view of the plains+registered visitor laundry! I felt very safe+very relaxed in the midst of a very remote area. Super thoughtful/personable on-site owner+staff. Worth the detour for me from I-5 and town of Taft.

The 5 stars is Mainly for their customer service. The man in the front was super accommodating and friendly. The rooms were clean and the best part was our kids (18 months and 4 years old) got all their energy out at the pool and slept like logs! The area felt safe as well. Overall great experience.

Honestly shocked at what a quiet little stay it was. Had to find a place to stay the night in a pinch and grabbed a room here. It was a great price and the check in only took about a minute or two. The room was pretty spacious and came with a sofa which was nice. The bed was comfortable and I slept all the way through the night. I slept in the next morning and wasn't woken up by housekeeping. Checkout was just as smooth.

I've been staying in this Motel for years. I hunt in the area, and stay a few nights to several nights a year. I stay in Mom and Pop Motels in a lot of small Towns and this is the best one. This couple does a wonderful job. Rooms are huge, clean, and the pool is as clean as I've ever seen at a Motel. Stay here for the Carizzo Bloom and eat around the corner at Tina's Diner.

My husband and I stayed here 4 times in the past 3 months because Maricopa was a convenient stopping point for us between Menifee and Santa Maria. We enjoyed our stays here because the room was spacious, very clean and well furnished including mini-frig and microwave. There was free morning coffee too. The proprietors were courteous and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!

Excellent place -- very nice, VERY reasonable. I was uncertain, given that there's nothing else in town. But the place I was thinking of in Taft was full and recommended this place. The one problem is there's no place to eat except Subway in the gas station across the road, which closes at 7 or 7:30, so you have to go to Taft (where everything seems to close at 8). Nice people. Quiet, which surprised me. I was coming down from Carrizo Plain and needed a place to stay -- this was a great option!
