If you're going to Mossman's, I hear you have to try the Fish & Chips. That's what we were in the mood for. I think this used to be the Broken Yoke. It's a very spacious, open restaurant. Mossman's gives it a homey feel. The servers are pleasant and efficient. The booths are comfortable.The fish was tender and not over battered. The fries were plentiful.This is a good place to eat. Mossman's lives up to its reputation.

We just had breakfast and the service and food were outstanding! Eggs cooked perfect, country potatoes cooked with onions and red & green bell peppers was an absolute surprise and amazing! Bacon thick cut and perfectly cooked. Han steak and hash browns super!! I would not expect anything less from Mossman's!Price's were great, 2 eggs, choice of 2 bacon, 1 sausage or 1 ham, hash browns or country potatoes, with choice of toast, Mossman's famous pancake, or biscuits and gravy just $12.99!Can't wait to come back!!

Mossman's Coffee Shop in Bakersfield at the bowling alleys was a gem, famous for its classic fish and chips. I decided to visit this new location alone before bringing my family, hoping to recapture the charm from years ago. Thankfully, Mossman's delivered.The fish was golden and crispy, fried to perfection with a satisfying crunch that gave way to tender, flaky white fish. The fries were equally impressive, perfectly seasoned and crisp on the outside while soft on the inside. The soft dinner roll, warm and buttery, was the perfect complement to the meal. It all tasted just like I remembered.The atmosphere of Mossman's remains warm and inviting, with a small, hometown feel. The bar area adds to the charm, offering a relaxed space where locals chat and unwind. It's the kind of place where you feel at home the moment you walk in. The staff was friendly and attentive, contributing to the comfortable, laid-back vibe. Mossman's hasn't lost its touch--it's still the perfect spot for a casual, satisfying meal, with the added bonus of Bakersfield history in every bite.

Still everything is absolutely amazing best food we have had for well over 30+ years! Mossman has been making food for well over 100 years! Fish and Chips, Chicken Friend Steak, Tri Tip sandwich and budget salad exceptional food , cobblers, pies, everything is absolutely delicious! Highly recommended! Breakfast, Lunch and dinner.

Cute place good breakfast spot. I ordered biscuits and gravy and they are so delicious I took some for my sister. Yes I know they are known for fish and chips but definitely come for breakfast.

I wish I could do half a stars.... Honestly give it a 3.5. Very busy on weekend mornings; but they seemed to figure it all out. Ordered my to go order.... Took about twenty mins or so . Wish they had a water station why you wait. Shoot, this weather is hot. Ordered the chili verde omelet.... Was good .... Chunks of meat. My husband ordered the country fried steak.... They give a good amount of gravy on the side. Gravy is a little watery though. However; he ordered biscuits n gravy and I dunno about what they called a biscuit- it was more like a hamburger bun or dinner roll . Wish the biscuit was actually a biscuit - would have complimented the gravy a lot better. *used to be the old broken yolk on buena vista*

When I heard Mossman's was getting their own restaurant outside of the bowling alleys, I couldn't wait to go! Bakersfield has long been missing a good fried fish restaurant since the departure of my beloved Sea Breeze. For those who don't know, Mossman's took over the Broken Yolk Cafe on White Lane and Buena Vista. It doesn't look like there was any serious demo done to the building just new decor. The place is huge and I we hope that soon it will be to full capacity. They have a HUGE outdoor patio with plenty of fans and even Roman shades that can be rolled down when the sun is beaming. The day we went, they had been open for just over a week and there was a steady stream of take out orders being picked up. There are a few kinks they need to work out, mostly with cooking the food in a timely manner, but I'm sure they're up for the task. So the hubby and I both ordered the Original Fish & Chips but substituted the slaw for a garden salad. The fish was light and flaky, it was just missing the seasoning (This is where I began reminiscing about the good ole Sea Breeze days). Our fries weren't as crispy as I would've liked and they were also unseasoned. The salad was okay but they put it in the world's smallest bowl so eating it without making a mess was impossible! The biscuit was delicious! So light and fluffy! My daughter ordered the French toast and said it was good. I'm hoping that our food "issues" are attributed to new restaurant kinks and will eventually get worked out. I'm willing to give them another try before completely dismissing them, especially since we desperately need a fried fish place in town! C'mon Bakersfield, let's go out and support a local business that needs to stay around for years to come!

Service was terrific. Pleasant servers for our large breakfast party. Although we came during breakfast I had to order the fish & chips. Meanwhile my wife ordered the French toast. Both were very good although the eggs were ordered over medium and came out over easy. The French fries also are not salted or seasoned but they really didn't need it. Next time I go back I'll try some breakfast items as my wife's ham look phenomenal.

Can't say how happy I am seeing came here. I personally don't like going to the location in the bowling alley because of the noise and how everything smells like feet. This new location is such an improvement. Even though they didn't change the ambiance much from the previous restaurant, it still had a bit that sets it apart like the new pics in the wall. The food was great. My husband got the signature fish and chips and said it was excellent. My oldest daughter and I split the pancakes and the chilaquiles and both were delicious. My middle daughter also got a three stack and loved them. Our server, Junior, was so friendly and helpful. Checked on us regularly, left a carafe of coffee for the hubby, and even gave us to-go drinks for the road. We will definitely be back and highly recommend.

Wow! Went on a Friday and it was packed, but was seated quickly. Our waitress was so sweet, attentive, and prompt bringing refills just as drinks were being finished. Couldn't go wrong with an order of fish and chips and the serving was pretty large. The fish was fresh and crispy, the coleslaw was cold and sweet, and the fries were absolutely perfect! The decor is cute with old photographs on the walls but with a hip modern twist. You can't go wrong with grabbing a bite here, it's new and large but still feels like the same mossmans family restaurant. For being recently opened I think they're brining their top game.
