Matt was a very nice guy once I got a hold of him. He also did his very best to accommodate our event. Although we only needed a spot light for a comedy show, it was important to us. On the day of our event Matt got one of his employee's to drop the light off, set it up and show us how to use it.The reason that I only gave him two stars is because after the event it got very stressful for me. I understand that he is a busy guy and all, but he wasn't so professional in the end. We had a verbal conversation that he would have one of his employee's come and pick up the light on Monday from my work (our event was on Saturday) since it was so quick, I would keep the spotlight in my car and it was ok to let our receptionist know to tell me he was there to pick up the light when he called. After like a week.........he calls my work (I panicked and asked him to please not call my work, it is no longer ok) then I didn't hear from him again for a month! Yes a month AND he calls my work again and tells the receptionist he is on his way to pick up the light. HELLO, it's not in my car anymore, it's been over a month, it is now in my carport storage. Matt got really upset when I didn't have the light in my car, I told him I would do my best to get him to him, but I also work 7 days a week this month and need more than a day notice if you now want me to bring it to you.I guess my frustration is, if you are too busy to deal with the little guys, then don't deal with us, but don't be rude and demanding when you call me a month later expecting me to have it in my car still. Then hang up on my and tell me you are going to take me to small claims court. REALLY? I don't want your light. I had to turn him over to a friend (A guy who Matt couldn't bully). So, he was nice and helpful, but his busy schedule made things a bit un-organized when it was time for the pick up, all for a single spot light. Sure hope he doesn't treat his employee's like he does his clients when they don't do things his way.I would say use him, just have good boundaries and get things clear because I think he over books himself and he has an accent too which makes him a little hard to understand.

5 Stars for certain! Matt from Mega Events DJ'ed our wedding and did a spectacular job. He was attentive before the Big Day, and was a real rock-star the day of. He did a great job of being a facilitating voice, was very helpful the day-of, and chose a terrific playlist with the only guidance of "Something for everyone." He had my grandparents pulling out their best foxtrot moves to the oldies, and then kept them out there doing swing to the Black Eyed Peas! Pretty terrific!I respectfully completely disagree with Eddie L's negative remarks. We had a very elegant wedding and reception at a winery and Matt seemlessly fit in to the fine setting. He was professional, fun and had an awesome Australian accent to boot! What else do you want?

USE THIS COMPANY!!! You will absolutely not regret it!I hired Matt Nelson, and MEGA Event for our wedding this past Saturday, and I can honestly say that he helped to transform a space that was already amazing into something absolutely MAGICAL!!! I am a long distance bride (planned a wedding on the peninsula from DC - yeah I guess I like to make life difficult for myself), and it was critical that every vendor I hired meet a number of criteria: highly responsive, well versed in their craft, good value (notice I didn't say cheap - though MEGA was THE most affordable lighting company that I found), and bring experience and creativity to the event. MEGA not only met our needs, but he far exceeded my wildest expectations! We selected the mid-level package which covered about a 2500 square foot space. It included 16 led uplights, 3 leko lights (the ones used to add patterns to the walls), and the best part: someone to man the lights the WHOLE night! That meant that as our event went through various phases, the lighting was changed to set/enhance the mood. We ordered a globo ( monogrammed stencil placed over the leko to project our monogram onto the dance floor) and even though there was a mix up and it wasn't ordered until one week before the wedding, we got it at cost! He didn't mark up the pricing even though he could have!If you are looking for lighting for any event, I would HIGHLY recommend Matt and MEGA - you will not be disappointed!

We used Mega Event Production for our wedding this past October at The Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco and were overall very pleased with the services and attention we received from this vendor! We worked closely with Matt Nelson, and were so happy with the interactions we had the minute we reached out to him. He was incredibly pleasant and professional, which helped make you feel as if he genuinely cared about providing you with excellent service. It was clear from the get go that Matt truly cares about his work and that he strives to make your event one of a kind.He was always quick to respond to our emails and phone calls, giving his professional advice and suggestions if he felt your suggestions could be better implemented with his expertise. We utilized him both for the lighting for our wedding at the Fairmont Hotel as well as our DJ for the special event. He helped us find the exact look we wanted so that our reception room looked truly magical. We opted to give him some suggestions of the kind of music we liked and wanted played at the reception, and then felt confident and comfortable enough to allow him free reign of suggestions he felt would fit well with our tastes. And he was spot on. The pricing was amazing, especially when compared with other vendors out there. For what we got I still feel like we were given such a huge discount. We had a few suggestions for Matt after the event and he was more than open and willing to hear them. All in all we were very pleased and recommend Mega Event Productions for your next big event!

If you're running an event in The Bay Area and are looking for the guys to rent A/V equipment from, go with MEGA Event Production. In my recent trip out there, I did two events with them and found them to *excel* in all areas - technical know-how, industry expertise, equipment quality, price, and most importantly, customer service. They left *all* other A/V people in the region trailing in the dust on *all* fronts.

Context of this review is for corporate lighting rental. Worked with Matt for a lighting setup for a user conference we had.Pictures: https://secure.flickr.com/photos/zoho/sets/72157646563772099/Our event space designed without much thought for lighting. Matt had ideas around our limitations due to HVAC gobbling up much space on our exposed ceiling as well as limited areas due to four projectors already mounted there as well. Matt was really easy to work with and always answered his phone. He came to setup on a weekend as well, a Sunday for our event on Monday. We weren't sure if we needed lighting until that late too. We're lucky to find a solid vendor to knock that out. As one who is responsible for global events for a giant SaaS company, I'm happy to work with Matt and would recommend him to other folks.

Bottom Line: Matt threatened to turn off all the lighting in the middle of our wedding dinner reception. In no way is this acceptable behavior for a wedding vendor. Completely Unprofessional.Recommend?No. If you're strapped for cash, then maybe simple stuff. As long as you can make sure to see everything completely set up. But if you want a vendor who cares about your happiness, who wants to satisfy his customers, who can adapt, then find someone else My wife had a bad feeling about this guy. We should have been more careful. Especially when we learned he wouldn't let us talk to the person who would be running things on our wedding day. What just doesn't make sense is how the other reviews on Matt here are glowing. Maybe it's because Matt wasn't the one there running things during our event. I sure hope our event is the last time he has someone else run the evening rather than himself. How did it get to this? I guess you get what you pay for. My wife put a lot of time & detail into going over with Matt what she wanted for our wedding reception. The wall uplighting he totally delivered on, but the light on the cake & the sweetheart table & the Leko lights & gobos didn't turn out as they'd discussed & that's how this started getting ugly. Problem is that Matt didn't leave someone who could make decisions to run things for the whole evening. Matt was running another event. 2nd problem is that Matt didn't check with my wife that he'd set up the pinspots & Leko Lights to her satisfaction even after she'd spent so much time going over with him on how she wanted things. He was there in the morning while his guys set things up; I had a chance to drop in for a bit while they were setting things up where he told me why he wanted to point some Leko's at the ceiling instead of the floor, & certain Leko's on the wall instead of at the ceiling. Those seemed reasonable to me, but I'm totally not my wife who had a specific vision & had spoken at length with him! Matt had also promised that there would be 2 people manning our event & instead there was only the very young high schooler or college kid. So at the dinner reception when my wife finally did see how the lights were set up & wanted things corrected there was nobody there who could make any decisions nor was there the 2nd person there to help in making any changes. We convinced the young operator to at least point a light at the sweet heart table so that my wife & I could actually be seen. For some reason 2 spotlights were just pointed on the cake leaving us in sitting in the dark. Matt's response over the phone was that he had no idea where the sweetheart table was going to be that morning when they were setting up. Um... ok... so then you just gave up without trying to find out? For crying out loud, we're talking about pointing a light at the spot where the just married couple is going to be sitting during a dinner reception. How can you leave that out when it's what we arranged for?? The young operator kept telling us he wasn't allowed to make any other changes without Matt's OK, & that Matt was busy running another event & couldn't be reached. During our evening, while everyone was eating, when we were finally able to get Matt on the phone to talk about making other adjustments, he said that nobody could make any changes, that his insurance wouldn't allow the operator to get a ladder to go make changes. At this point we're getting frustrated because rather than trying to make things right, he's arguing with us defending how he set things up when he'd been there earlier. Matt told his young operator to kill all the lights if we didn't pay the rest of the balance immediately. At that point we realized why this guy has so few reviews, isn't willing to give references, & why his prices are so low. We were forced to pay. I told him we'd definitely have to talk. He's never contacted us since. He really doesn't seem to care about his image or reputation.Responsiveness:Matt was always too busy to return my fiancee's calls, voicemail or emails promptly or at all until I would call him on the phone after she'd let me know he wasn't responding. He wouldn't give additional references when the ones he pointed us to didn't respond. When I'd reiterated that we really wanted to talk to some references, he promised, but nobody ever materialized. This part of our experience really doesn't match up with the other reviews. Maybe he doesn't like my wife. He always picked up the phone when I called. Go figure.Value:30% cheaper. Make sure you're getting what he's promising. Be specific Get him to show you in person. Make sure he gets a sign off from you. & make sure he's there during your event. You get what you pay for. Peace of mind for us was not one of those things with Matt.We had to worry throughout the reception about the lighting, & had a black cloud over our heads of a man who just threatened to shut off all the lights in the middle of our wedding reception.

Matt Nelson DJ'd my daughter's Sweet 16 party at Kingfish and was phenomenal. He has thousands of songs and played exactly what the kids wanted, along with a slew of requests. He put on a great light show as well, and added lights for free that were not in the paid-for package. If you're looking for a professional, who can brings superb dance music, and also tailor it to a younger group (so it isn't a dance-fest of nothing but swear words), this is the go-to guy.

Matt at MEGA Event Productions is professional, experienced and detail-oriented. We needed a sound system for a float in the San Francisco Pride Parade. He worked with our team on all the details -- from the requirements needed for the generator and placement on the float, to all the activities on the day of the parade, including setting up the system, running the sound board, and packing it up. With Matt's help, we were able to have a very successful and memorable day. Thanks Matt!

Horrible Customer Service:Had a quote drawn up from Mike Kane months before my event was to take place. He had given me pricing for later lights $174 with FREE delivery and PICK UP.I called to confirm week of my event he said he wasn't able to do it because he was new and he messed up and didn't want to get in trouble from his boss.Customers shouldn't be responsible for poor job training or poor management.
