Mariscos Las Islitas

Personally, I love the way Mexicans do seafood. And this little gem of a restaurant is no different. The mariscos are done exactly as they should be, and the fish dishes are wonderful. Most Mexican restaurants bring you tortilla chips with the salsa, but here, they bring you small crispy tortillas that you break apart for dipping. Or, I guess you could put some of your meal on them, and have little mini tostadas. Very nicely done Mexican decor, very colorful, music playing in the background. Usually, when we go, we're the only gringos in the place. I've always felt that, if you go to a Mexican restaurant and it's filled with Mexicans, or a Chinese restaurant that's filled with Chinese people, you're probably going to get a good meal. And this place has never let us down.

If you're in Lamont and want authentic Mexican seafood make sure to come here. From the Michelada to the shrimp it is fantastic. My parents have a farm in Arvin and we eat here at least once a month. We LOVE it.

I came here with my family and everyone choose a dish they enjoyed. They have a nice bar in the back, I recommend the Pina Colada! I also got the shrimp tacos and they're the best Ive ever had !

A very quiet place in the small tian of Lamont. There specialities are mariscos n fish. The place is poppin' for a mid weekday. It's a vert popular place here in this small town. Being that it's Ash Wednesday and not being able to eat meat today I ordered the quesadillas. I don't eat shell fish or fish and this is their speciality, Nayarit style. People seem to really enjoy these dishes. I would whole heartily recommend this place. The nouveau level is just right and the place is very clean and the waitresses ready to take your order.

This was our first time here, and yes, we WILL be back! First thing in the door, you notice the brightly colored decor, and beautifully carved chairs. The staff is all very sharp looking, and good at their job. Friendly smiles are everywhere.We both got mixed mariscos, and they were delicious. Big shrimp, crab, octopus, abalone, clams, onion, and avocado. A big portion of it, too! Just right for a warm spring day.

It's been awhile since I've been here. In the past, servers were great. Now it seems they don't take phone calls anymore. I've attempted many times to call to place an order ahead of time so my order can be ready when I get there, but I'm told when I arrive phones are not working. Really for over a year now, same problem? So, I took my chance and went in today. My plan to dine in ended up a to go because I was out of time. The worse didn't end here. The food was so poorly packed that when I got home, the beans spilled all over the place. I've ordered to go from this place before and I never had this problem. I won't be back anymore.

If I could add negative stars I would. First off, we get there and the greeter tells us to sit anywhere. Great, we pick a table and she says not there. We pick another table and again not there. This should have been our clue to leave. 1. The waitresses were inattentive and more concerned in cleaning the empty bar area. 2. Chips and salsa were not offered, at our table only. 3. Food was flavorless and not as requested. 4. Our drinks ran out well before the food arrived and not a single refill offered.5. Food took too long to prepare, even though it was not a complicated order. 6. Other tables were served before us, even though we ordered first. Overall, not a great experience and will not go back again.
