Well let me start by saying I was told this place is named El Malecon, so don't know why it shows differently here as the name on the outside also says el Malecon. Nevertheless, the name doesn't matter! This place is amazing and the most delicious place for Mariscos in California!! This is the best I have experienced in the 2 years I have been here. The food was super good, flavorful and the service was outstanding, warm and friendly people serving the food. The ambiance is hometown local place with great food! If you are in the area, passing by or a local, this place is absolutely the best!! Everything on the menu is fantastic and I will for sure be back to eat their delicious food. The ceviche is good the fish is good and the authentic flavor is great! You won't be disappointed if you visit! I recommend it and I know you will truly enjoy it! I will be making a trip back from NorCal to Porterville just to come eat here. It's worth the 4 hour drive!

The service was friendly but that was the only redeemable aspect. Note there was a surcharge for using credit card. I placed a take out order and it took 10 minutes to prep my food. Considering I saw the tostadas being removed from a grocery bag, I'm assuming they weren't made in house. My order came with forks, tostadas, hot sauce, ketchup, and saltine crackers.*Aguachile: the portion was very small and there was barely any flavor. The shrimp had the slightest bit of acidity but I'm shocked by the lack of lemon juice and green Enchilosa sauce. There was a singular slice of avocado on top. Most of the container was composed of red onions and cucumbers. The red onions were dry, hence I refuse to believe that this dish had any proper preparation.*Ceviche Especial: wow was this so dry. The octopus and shrimp were way overcooked. Instead of shrimp ceviche, I received a strange clump of shredded imitation crab. This was similarly topped with a single slice of avocado. There was no aspect of seasoning or citrus in this entire meal. The lack of freshness and flavor was astounding. A positive was that I didn't get food poisoning from this meal. However, I wasn't able to finish either dish because they were both poor examples of Mexican seafood.

This place is NOT FRESH AT ALL. If you think it is you're mistaken. The blonde Hispanic with glasses, who works here told me they make fake reviews to add reviews on yelp and she told me the food is frozen and sits in the fridge for weeks.

Best shrimp tacos ever and the ceviche is very fresh, leaves you wanting more. You can get breaded or grilled shrimp and they are both good.

I was planning to visit some Argentinian restaurants over the weekend in LA.But I could not wait for empanadas so I did a search ...there is one location in Porterville that has it ...they only make one type ....shrimp and cheese empanadas....it is easy to miss this place because there's one sign above the location, off the street ....when you walk in you are immediately transformed....it is Mexico, great atmosphere, beautiful music, very nice people and an amazing staff ....they were so cordial, so respectful, so polite, and so professional. They give me a complementary fish ceviche when I waited for my order of three shrimp and cheese empanadas. I cannot believe I've been around this area for almost 10 years andI never found this place. Empanadas were okay. Service was super. Need to go back to try are the items from their menu.

Excellent fast service! I went in and placed a to go order with them and they told me it would be a ten minute wait. Not bad at all. As I waited they brought me a water and ceviche appetizer as if I was eating there. Super thoughtful! I love their fish ceviche and friendly service. Will definitely return soon

I was there at the end of Dec. the food was way over priced for the quality and amount. Will not be going again. Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy or my sister, who is my worst enemy.

I came here on my lunch break because I wanted some shrimp empanadas when I opend my container and see the rice and beans I already knew they were not going to have flavor :/ and I was right they had absolutely no flavor at all and the rice seemed like it came from a type of rice-a-roni box... I can say the empanadas were perfect the only think id change is the sauce it came with it had a weird sweet taste, like as if they used miracle whip to make it, I'm used to having a chipotle type of sauce when I buy these at other places, so yea I didn't like the sauce. I gave them 4 stars because of their service it was quick and they were really nice. just improve on the rice and beans and the sauce and it will be amazing!

Stopped by on a work trip, and almost left cause all we saw was a little bud light sign, glad we walked in! Was shocked to find a full house of people and lively atmosphere. 6$ Coronas, entrees from 8-22$ (also free ceviche they put at the table!) so very reasonably priced, and the food was unbelievable. The service was also fantastic. I don't write many reviews but felt I had to- I've been to a lot of restaurants on my trips and this is one I definitely wish was local for me in San Diego. I say it's always a good sign when you're the only white folks in a packed Mexican restaurant- and that held true here lol
