Maria's Restaurant

Stopped by for a bacon cheeseburger and fries. The staff was super friendly. I didnt recognize any of the staff from a previous visit a while back. After talking to Jenni she informed me that her uncle had just taken over ownership. Back to the burger and fries, the burgwr was on point hot melted cheese ,beef pattie cooked to perfection, super juicy. The bacon was perfect. The lettuce, tomato, and the onions were cold just the way a fresh burger should be. I highly recommend this place. I am looking forward to stopping by and trying their tacos, which i saw they had on their menu. Super excited to go back.

Unfortunately the lunch buffet is no longer offered, even though the sign is still up outside. For the same price of the buffet you are able to eat a "chipotle style" bowl or burrito. The portions were small and it really wasn't that great. Unfortunate turn of events for one of my preferred restaurants in Taft. If they no longer have the buffet, they could at least take the sign down. It's misleading.

Maria's is soooo yummy! The food is Authentic Mexican food! The buffet is delicious. Maria always has her best dishes on the buffet. The menudo, Posole, Barbacoa, chile verde. Chile colorado. Heck! Everything on the menu has been delicious! Her food is fresh and you can tell Maria is passionate about her food. She makes sure ur order is exactly what u order. Her music selection is great & the decor is cute. If you live in Taft this is a must. She has daily dinner specials too.

This is my 1st and last time going to this place. I've never been to a Mexican restaurant where you get your chips and salsa AFTER your meal. Especially when you come in and the place is empty!!! Not even 1 other customer was in there. I can understand if they were busy. Their tacos were very dry with no flavor even after adding the salsa. Their salsa was tasteless too. Also they charge $1 for water. Yes $1 for WATER. Anyways there is ALOT of places you can go for tacos in Taft. JUST DONT COME HERE!!

We decided to try Maria's in the Albertson's shopping center. My husband ordered the carne asada Taco/ cheese Enchilada combo w/rice & beans. I got the chicken Taco salad. The carne asada was gristley & rubbery. The cheese was rubbery & the tortillas were doughy and undercooked. The beans were over salted and the rice was bland, bland, bland. And there was eggshell in the carne asada!The Taco Salad was awful. The flour shell was over cooked, dark brown and really greasy. The white meat chicken was untrimmed, so full of gristle. Again the beans were over salted. The lettuce was huge white chunks of Iceburg. Not what I expect in any salad.The chips were over cooked, dark and very greasy & the salsa was bland.Needless to say, we ate very little. Overall, it sucked and now I have an upset stomach. We won't be going back

First time we have been to Maria's. She had the Chile Verde and he had the Philly steak sandwich. She asked if the dish was hot and was told it was not. Turned out it was so hot she could not eat it. His sandwich was good but not really flavorful. The real problem was the flies. We spent a half hour chasing flues from our food. The place is kind of like a fast food place where you place and pay for your food and, pick it up when ready. Will probably try Maria's again but the flies were a real distraction.
