Mango Haus in Downtown Bakersfield is such a special place! Located in the beautifully converted Hill House, it's like stepping into a tropical oasis, even though the surrounding area might seem a bit iffy--don't let that stop you. Mango Haus has come a long way from its early days as a vegan spot (with another name) in the Southwest, and you can truly feel the passion the team pours into every dish. Everything is made fresh, and it shows in the flavors and care that go into the food. With a great lineup of fun cocktails, it's the perfect spot to meet up with friends, relax, and enjoy the laid-back, vibrant atmosphere. Mango Haus has definitely earned a spot in my heart!

The Food: Small portions, overpriced, bland favor, not authentic.I got the chilaquiles for $18-$19 and it was a very small portion, the chips were hard and the flavor was a bit bland compared to other places. I've bought chilaquiles for $8 at another restaurant and the portion was much larger and more flavorful. They also give you an obsurdly small amount of beans on the side of your meal as well, with No rice. I also ordered a side of fries, a bowl of fruit(which is extremely small), and a coffee. My order came out to nearly $50 They add their own tip so you have no choice but to pay the service fee. My mom ordered the pancakes & let me try a bite, it was powdery, bitter, and doughy. It tasted like it was not finished. The menu is very limited & each 'hispanic' dish does not contain traditional ingredients. For example, the 'nachos' do not have beans, meat, shredded cheese or nacho cheese, guac or pico on them which is usually the main ingredient for nachos. Oh and none of their menu items have asada which is another thing that all Hispanic restaurants have. The Service: It took a little more than 1.5 hours for our food to come out. We had a party of 13 and they told us they don't do separate checks on large parties but they could do separate payments which makes no sense. So one of us had to calculate our orders and tell the waitress to charge different cards per order. The atmosphere: The decorations are cute and I enjoyed the interior design, I wish the food and service could be as good as how the place looks. The names of the foods were ridiculous, they try to make something simple sound fancy so they can charge more for it.In a nutshell, each one of us that came to this place all said we're likely not going back to Mango Haus. If you want healthy Mexican food with larger portions for cheaper prices, try VMG a couple blocks down. This place is not it.

I'll start this saying, I miss Manuel's. That's not a dig on Mango Haus. I met a friend for brunch. Love the decor, the natural light transports you somewhere else. It's like you're on an island vacation. The bottomless mimosas helped. The food is flavorful. Get the Patatas Bravas (spicy potatoes) omg... yum. Avocado smash was flavorful and the side salad was refreshing after the heaviness of the toast. Friendly staff. Great for brunch.

We went with friends on sunday for brunch. We didn't have a reservation, but we were seated promptly. The ambiance is nice and different. The servers are smiling and friendly. The restaurant has a limited menu. Just fee dishes. There are no sandwiches in the brunch menu.I got the chilauiles rojoz. It was packed with a lot of flavors. It was my first time trying the dish, so I couldn't really judge how good it was prepared.I also had the Havana mojito, and it was on the strong side. The place provides a good experience, but if you are looking for more options on the menu, I would try a different place.

We love the decor! It has little touches of genius that make it feel special. Genisis & Miguel were incredible servers! We loved the food and cocktails too. Will rerun when in BAK next time.

This is a coworker's favorite place for brunch / lunch so I treated her here for her birthday. I would normally not go to a vegetarian restaurant, so I'm glad she suggested this place to dine. She has tried everything on the menu and says you can't go wrong. The burrito is her favorite. She also likes the nachos. Our other friend got the seafood tacos and she said they were yummy. Another friend said her cauliflower pesto was to die for, and I will get that next time. I got the Cobb salad which was great, but unwisely should have listened more carefully to my friends suggestions which I found suspect because she is a vegetarian. We got the guacamole which was amazing, and we finished it up before I remembered to take a picture lol. Next time we're going to come earlier to lounge in the bar area, which is beautiful. Classy. Order bloody Mary's spicy was a suggestion of our server, and if you like sweeter, gotta get the the mango margarita.Great location downtown. Not a ton of parking so if you can walk from work it's a good idea to do so.

The moment you step inside, it feels like you're entering another world with its beautiful decor. The atmosphere is fantastic, and they offer both indoor and outdoor seating. The food is simply amazing--the combination of flavors is so well-balanced and delicious. So many flavorful and healthy options. The staff is friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. As a guest of the Best Western Plus Hill House next door, you can even get a breakfast voucher, which is a great bonus. Highly recommend!

Nice environment, super friendly staff, and delicious, healthy food options. I ordered the patatas bravas (a traditional food staple in Spain) and it was made perfectly. The brava sauce was delicious, spicy, and on point. I also had the avocado toast, which came with a delicious side salad with house made dressing. All the ingredients were fresh and delicious. Husband had the tortilla de patata (another traditional dish in Spain), and an order of chilaquiles. The sauce used on the chilaquiles was flavor full, authentic freshly made, and absolutely delicious! No canned stuff. It was tricky finding this place as it is located in a hotel and our GPS sent us to a dead end street behind the hotel. Glad we found it though...it's a gem that serves delicious, healthy meal options.

I ordered delivery through Door Dash. I ordered Patatas and Pesto Pasta.Mango Haus sent me someone else's half eaten pancakes. How does this even happen???????I called Mango Haus immediately and they tried to initially blame my door Dash driver saying they should have checked that my order was correct. That is blatantly false information and they should know better. Door Dash drivers aren't even supposed to open the bag. Mango Haus was very unapologetic and gave me zero resolution.I threw away the entire order. I will never eat there again.

Good Ambience. We took a little detour from I-5 while returning from LA, and it was worth it. We loved our server's hospitality and recommendations. The options are limited, so they are minimalist, but they are all good choices for different taste palates.
